SsangYong is practically announcing its intentions to offer an electric vehicle –an SUV competing in the C-segment – by unveiling the new SsangYong e-SIV electric concept at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Penned under the design concept of ‘New horizon, smart dynamism,’ the new e-SIV embodies the brand’s future approach to electric vehicles, autonomous driving as well as connectivity.
Building SUVs is nothing new to SsangYong, as the South Korean carmaker prides itself as a specialist maker of utilities and other vehicles that are designed for on-the-road and off-the-road use. The brand sees the new vehicle concept as instrumental in shaping the next generation of its utilities and EVs. The new e-SIV – which stands for stands for Electronic Smart Interface Vehicle -- is SsangYong’s fifth electric car concept shown at Geneva Motor Show. It follows the KEV1 in 2010, KEV2 in 2011, e-XIV in 2012, and Tivoli EV-R in 2015.
Essentially, SsangYong developed and built the new e-SIV concept to demonstrate not just its commitment to electric vehicles, but also its approach to creating a connected mobility solution and autonomous driving. SsangYong earlier this month dished out the official sketches of the latest 2018 Rexton model. Soon after releasing the drawings, the South Korea-based motor company finally brings forth the official images of the lighter and more spacious SUV.
Billed as Mahindra Y400 for the Indian market, the next generation SUV’s design cues were drawn straight from the LIV-2 Concept seen at the Paris Motor Show last year.
Other than a few minor changes, the SUV’s exterior virtually appears the same as SsangYong’s concept model. For one, it has similarly designed front grille that forms a hexagonal shape with three horizontal slats, in the same way that the upward positioning of the fog lights and traditional headlamps reminds us of the LIV-2 concept in Paris.Read the entire article SsangYong shows official images of the 2018 Rexton
South Korean car company SsangYong recently revealed sketches of their upcoming SUV. We’re not always impressed by Korean car designs, but this one looks quite promising. Yup, it is the next-generation Rexton that was first seen at the 2016 Paris Motor Show as the LIV-2 concept. The production model will make its debut at the Seoul Motor Show next Thursday, as the company’s flagship model.
Mahindra & Mahindra, SsangYong’s parent company, acquired Italian car design firm Pininfarina in late 2015, for $28 million. Without certainty, the design company was likely involved in designing the SUV, thus the improved styling of both the exterior and the interior of the car.
The company had released several technical specifications of the Rexton. Its dimensions are: 191 inches (4,850mm) long, 75 inches (1,920 mm) wide, 71 inches (1,800) tall, and a wheelbase that extends to 113 inches (2,865mm). Many would agree that it is quite a large SUV.Read the entire article Here’s the latest teaser on SsangYong’s flagship model -- the 2018 Rexton

Sport utility vehicle specialist SsangYong Motor Co. has launched its latest vehicle, the premium convertible crossover utility vehicle (CUV) XIV-2 at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show. The CUV, whose moniker XIV-2 means eXciting User Interface Vehicle 2, is an offshoot of the first concept, XIV-1, shown at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 2011.
Since the first concept, SsangYong made sure of its evolution into a vehicle that offers “a special experience with fun.” To make that happen, SsangYong fitted an advanced convertible roof that allows driver and passengers to experience having ‘wind in the hair’ while on the move. SsangYong built the XIV-2 based from its design philosophy of ‘Robust Aesthetics Realisation,’ differentiating it from the older concept design by implementing progressive styling cues.
The XIV-2’s design seamlessly combines the aesthetics of an SUV with the benefits of a B segment car. The XIV-2 undertakes the dynamic shape of a coupé while retaining the appeal of an active, urban model. The SsangYong XIV-2 is endowed with carbon fibre trim that gives it a lightweight feel and an aerodynamic shape that attracts active young drivers.Read the entire article 2012 Geneva Motor Show: SsangYong launches XIV-2 Concept
SsangYong Motor UK has made new appointments at Wolverhampton and Hereford. In addition, three dealerships -- which were former service agents -- have also taken up the new vehicle franchise to represent the brand in Leicestershire, Lutterworth, Kent and Strabane, Larkfield, Northern Ireland and County Tyrone. Paul Williams, the company's chief executive officer, commented that they have worked "really hard" through the past few mounts to discuss as many potential dealers as possible. He added that "this is really paying dividends."
Williams further stated that they have been "leaning on an open door and people are only too keen to meet." Among the reasons being cited are the SsangYong heritage for producing well-engineered, honest and reliable vehicles, the company's market leading 5 year limitless mileage warranty and the great press reception to the company's new Korando crossover.
According to Williams, the company continues to seek for dealers to take on the franchise in various open points across England, Scotland and Wales. Among these points are Aberdeen, Inverness, Newcastle, Borders, Leeds, Teesside, Sheffield, Bradford, Greater Manchester, Nottingham, Coventry, Liverpool, Leicester, Watford, Exeter, Reading, Southampton, London/South East, Mid & North Wales.Read the entire article SsangYong adds more dealers across the United Kingdom
SsangYoung has unveiled the full production SUT-1 ‘Sports Utility Truck’, which has been highly anticipated ever since the four-door pickup concept was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show last March. There are very few changes when it comes to design but several luxury features have disappeared altogether.
The headlamps, taillights, grille and bumpers appear the same but they have been dulled somewhat. It is powered by SsangYoung’s efficient Euro 5 compliant 2.0-liter diesel that delivers 155hp and 360 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,800 rpm.
The power is distributed to the back. Consumers may opt for the part-time 4WD and a six-sped automatic. The model that comes with a manual boasts of having an EU economy rating of 7.1 liters per 100 km. It offers a CO2 emissions rating of 186 g/Km.Read the entire article Production version of SsangYong SUT-1 unveiled
When SsangYong Motor unveiled the XIV-1 Concept, it was not just to show a new model but to share its ability as it relates to engineering and design. The name stems from the phrase “eXciting user Interface Vehicle,” which underscores the relationship of the driver and passengers with the car. Aside from being a study in design, the XIV-1 is what the company reveals to be the concept version of its CUV project for the B-segment.
Created to show the company’s heritage and the future direction of its design, the company hopes that the XIV-1 will be its latest mass production model to be added to its already wide range. Mentioned earlier, a key feature of the XIV-1 can be found inside, which is its user interface. Rather than the interface simply being part of the ways to transport, it instead acts as an extended living space.
A number of its functions are controlled in how the vehicle interacts with smart mobile devices. These devices, many of which both driver and passengers may have on themselves, can manage almost everything inside the XIV-1.Read the entire article 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show: SsangYong XIV-1 Concept previews company’s next B-segment CUV
