Subaru customers and fans in the United States have been somewhat envious of their counterparts in Japan. This is because Subaru, most of the time, launches high-performance special edition models exclusive for the Japanese market. But this time, American fans and customers are getting what they’ve long wanted.
This coming spring 2018, Subaru will commence sales of not just one, but two hardcore limited edition models – the 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA and the 2018 Subaru BRZ tS. Each model will be available with just 500 units, with the WRX STI Type RA priced at $48,995 and the BRZ tS at $33,495. Prices exclude the $860 destination and delivery cost.
The 2018 WRX STI Type RA offers higher levels of performance through its reduced weight as well as upgrades made to its engine and suspension. Its 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine delivers 310 hp thanks to a new cold air intake, high flow performance exhaust, a retuned ECU and stronger pistons. The gearing of its six-speed manual transmission has also been revised.Read the entire article 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA and BRZ tS arrive in the US this spring, pricing details released
Subaru WRX and WRX STI fans will soon have a new special edition trim available when the 2019 model year debuts. These will be called Series.Gray and they will be available on both models. The special edition will come with a handful of appearance and performance parts inside and out, but this really isn’t considered to be new information. Sometime around the end of last month, Subaru announced the 2019 WRX and WRX STI and shared with us most of the details of the Series Gray models. What’s new for us would be some details and a number of photographs.
The Series Gray WRX was built off the WRX Premium trim that includes the Performance Package. New features include ultrasuede trimmed Recaro seats, eight-way power driver’s seat, JURID front brake pads, a moonroof delete, LED fog lights, keyless entry with push button start, and LED steering responsive headlights. The special edition will only be available with a six speed manual transmission. The WRX Series Gray comes with a price tag of $32,595.
If you are the type of person who would not settle for something common or usual, or want a more unique WRX STI, then the Series Gray may be right for you. When looking at it from the exterior, the package gets a Cool Gray Khaki paint, exclusive Crystal Black Silica badging, foldable exterior mirror, and 19 inch alloy wheels finished in black. The Brembo brakes have a silver finish with a black STI logo. As you move into the interior, you will notice black Ultrasuede with carbon black leather bolster and ultrasuede steering wheel with red stitching which are all standard. There’s Recaro seats with an eight way power driver’s seat come as standard. Of course, keyless entry with push button start is found in the WRX STI as well.Read the entire article Subaru reveals photos of the 2019 WRX, WRX STI Series.Gray
The BRZ may be one of Subaru’s best-selling cars, and it seems like it is also the automaker’s favourite. The reason why I said that is because the Japanese car maker has just revealed another variant of the BRZ, the STI Sport. The special edition model will have some extra updates here and there, and will only be sold exclusively in Japan. Subaru Tecnica International signed this latest project and said that whoever gets behind the wheel of this fun-to-drive sports car will experience “pure handling delight”, as it delivers superior handling and ride quality compared to the normal BRZ. This model will make its debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show just a month from now.
Just because it is a Sport trim, does not instantly mean that it will have more power. In fact, it does not. However, it does get the same exclusive suspension tuning and body rigidity that all BRZ versions have. The STI Sport trim is currently the highest specification of the coupe to date and that it will be available in a bespoke Cool Grey Khaki paint. Being the range topper, it is natural that it gets additional tweaks in and outside the car.
Those who are interested in the BRZ STI Sport can already sign up at Japanese dealerships. However, unlike regular vehicles, it will not be sold on a first come, first serve basis. The company will hold a lottery, and will randomly select names of people who will be eligible to purchase one. We should find out more about this as the automakers announces the procedure and the full mechanics of the lottery at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 25.Read the entire article Subaru BRZ STI Sport Special Edition will soon arrive at 2017 Tokyo Motor Show
Honda recently announced that the 2017 Civic Type R will be the first ever Civic Type R to make its way to U.S. shores, and it will be auctioned at "Bring a Trailer" site to a lucky guy for a good cause. Well, this time Honda may have a challenger that will also make its US debut soon. The vehicle in question is the 2018 Subaru BRZ tS, the US-spec version of which was officially revealed on June 8.
If you are an avid follower of Subaru Technica International, also commonly known as STI, you’ve probably been following news about this awe-inspiring model. The new WRX STI Type RA, as well as the U.S.-spec variant of the Subaru BRZ tS, finally had their wraps off.
The most recent teaser image of the tS revealed lightweight STI wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Tires, Brembo brakes and an upgraded aero package that comes with the hashtag #BRZts. The 2015 BRZ tS edition that was Japan-only unit model and only limited to 300 units, was released without the wing, but it was built with Bilstein suspension all around, an STI engine V Bar, carbon fiber look dash pane, Recaro bucket seats and Alcantara trimmings found throughout the cabin.Read the entire article Track-Ready 2018 Subaru BRZ tS is unveiled
It seems like an increase in price has become a trend for automotive companies lately. Genesis isn’t alone when it comes to this. Subaru had just announced that the 2018 WRX will have a price tag of $27,855, while the WRX STI will be at $36,955, inclusive of the destination free. And if you compare these prices to the 2017 models sold last year, you will see a slight difference across all trims.
For the Subaru WRX, there is a $340 increase from the 2017 models of the standard, premium, and premium CVT trims, while a more noticeable increase of $640 for the limited and limited CVT trims. The 2018 Subaru WRX STI, on the other hand, goes up further with a $940 increase compared to the 2017 model. The 2018 standard trim now costs $36,955 (from $36,015), and the two limited trims now have a price tag of $41,755 (from $40,815). Now if you’re reading this, you might regret not having purchased a 2017 model. Take note that there is a destination fee of $860 on top of the base price, which also increased by $40 compared to last year.
Physically, the 2018 WRX models have a more distinct look thanks to its more angular fascia. The limited trim, and all STI models have steering-responsive LED headlights as well.Read the entire article There is a price hike for all Subaru WRX and STI trims for 2018 model year

As promised, Subaru unveiled the WRX S4, a new version of the WRX that will be exclusively in Japan. According to the official press release, the S4 tag is actually formed by four values: sports performance, safety performance, smart driving and sophisticated feel.
The 2015 Subaru WRX S4 is powered by a 2.0-liter direct injection turbo (DIT) engine that produces 300 hp (221 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,800 rpm. The engine is bolted to the Sport Lineartronic transmission and offers a fuel consumption of 7.57 l/100 km.

As expected, the new WRX S4 comes with a new design which includes the Subaru hexagonal grille, hawkeye headlights and a front hood featuring a stylish air scoop for better cooling of the engine.Read the entire article 2015 Subaru WRX S4 becomes official in Japan
Earlier today we revealed you the WRX S4, but this vehicle wasn’t the only one unveiled by the Japanese company as Fuji Heavy Industries also introduced the 2015 Subaru WRX STI Type S. According to Subaru, the WRX STI Type S comes with the same chassis mods as the WRX S4 as well as with the Driver’s Control Center Differential (DCCD) fitted as standard.
Under the hood, there is the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 305 hp and 422 Nm of torque. The engine is bolted to a six-speed manual transmission as standard but as an option Subaru offers six-speed automatic gearbox.
This means that the JDM-spec WRX STI Type S develops the same output as the US-spec version but with a smaller engine. For those who don’t know, the US-Spec 2015 Subaru WRX STI uses a 2.5-liter tuevocharged/intercooled four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 305 h and 393 Nm of torque.Read the entire article 2015 Subaru WRX STI Type S breaks cover in Japan
When you love your wife you have to be prepared to do anything for her, or at least this is what everybody says. Subaru decided to use this idea in their latest commercial where it highlights the performances of the 2015 WRX STI. The so-called perfect man, wakes up ahead of its beautiful wife in order to prepare breakfast but they ran out of bread.
As a result, he jumps into his brand new 2015 Subaru WRX STI and hurries up to buy some bread before his wife comes to breakfast. The baker is even more hilarious when he comes out of his shop and prepares to serve his customer after he does some donuts.
Clearly inspired by the popular Gymkhana where Ken Block impresses with his Ford Fiesta RS WRC, the new video released by Subaru is quite impressive. For those who don’t know, the 2015 Subaru WRX STI is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged/intercooled 4-cylidner Boxer engine that delivers 305 hp at 6,000 rpm and 290 lb-ft (393 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm.Read the entire article Subaru releases Gymkhana-style commercial for new WRX STI [w/video]
Despite the fact that some rumors killed the second-generation of the Subaru BRZ, Yasuyuki Yoshinga a.k.a. president of Subaru’s parent Fuki Heavy Industries wanted to ensure the fans of the Japanese sporty coupe that a new version is coming. According to Yasuyuki Yoshinga, Subaru is planning a second-generation of the BRZ, which will be jointly developed with Toyota.
Yoshinga also added that without Toyota’s volume it wouldn’t be viable for Subaru to build the new car by itself. Although the sales of Scion FR-S fell 24 percent to 7,662 units through June 2014, Subaru BRZ sales rose 6 percent through the same month to 4,295 units.
In June 2014, both vehicles’ sales suffered the double-digit slumps. For those wanting a convertible version of the Subaru BRZ sporty coupe, Subaru brand chief Yasuyuki Yoshinaga has bad news for you – it is a big “no”. He says it would require a complete overhaul to comply with safety standards. His remarks came as Toyota Motor Corp., which sells a rebadged version of the Scion FR-S, unveiled its convertible concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Yoshinaga, who is also president of Subaru-brand parent Fuji Heavy Industries, remarked that his company would not build a drop-top variant for the both carmakers.
He remarked at the show that since Subaru builds the BRZ/FR-S (also known as Toyota 86 or Toyota GT86 in other markets), a convertible version won’t happen if they decide against it. He said that their engineering department has told him that doing away with the entire roof needs a complete redesign of the structure – which means a big change.Read the entire article Subaru brand chief says no to convertible version of the BRZ
