Superchips Ltd. is launching another product this year – an ECU remap for the diminutive 1.0-litre, 125 PS (123 bhp) turbocharged Ecoboost Ford Focus that boosts performance significantly. Superchips is widely regarded as the top automotive electronic tuning company in the world. Consumers can get the Superchips ECU remap on the company’s Bluefin ‘Plug-in and go’ DIY programming handset.
With this product, owners of the Focus 1.0-litre Ecoboost would be able to provide a fully reversible performance upgrade at an inexpensive price. The new ‘downsized’ 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine has been praised for being efficient and refined as well as for having a ‘reasonable level of urge.’
But when the units are dressed in the Focus’ 1240 kg bodyshell, it becomes clear that the Superchips remap would make cars more powerful and more responsive as well as enable them to get higher torque.Read the entire article Superchips boosts the 1.0-liter engine found on Ford Focus models
Despite the fact that many customers are choosing crossovers more than other types of vehicles, Ford continues to offer its compact car, the Focus, for the 2019 model year. The newest model comes packed with technology, new interior and exterior design, and better materials. Ford had just revealed the Euro spec version in Germany, while the US spec will follow in the second half of 2019.
The 2019 Ford Focus will be making use of Ford’s new C2 platform, meaning that aerodynamics, crash performance and interior space will all be improved. Its wheelbase has also grown by 53 millimeters, increasing the cabin space, but keeping the front and rear overhangs short.
The new Ford Focus doesn’t just boast good looks and a sleeker body as aerodynamics has also been improved and Ford has managed to lower the drag coefficient to 0.250 for the sedan and 0.273 for the hatchback. The Ford Focus has also lost a lot of weight, down to 194 pounds (88 kilograms), cutting down fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 10 percent.Read the entire article 2019 Ford Focus gets new design, lots of tech
It has been a while since Ford stared their campaign for the 2019 Focus, and this whole time, they have been sharing teasers of the car that will supposedly make its debut sometime next year. Apart from the teasers, we have actually already spotted two variants of the prototype on public roads - the hatchback and the sedan. Both prototypes were dressed in a unique livery with a hastag that says “TimeToFocus”. And just before the holidays, we got another teaser from the automaker, and that is a final look at the new hatchback.
To be frank, the new teaser is nothing new from what we have already seen so far. And as mentioned earlier, it is dressed in a colourful livery with the same hashtag. But this time, it is slightly more distinguishable. Ford’s campaign and tag line “time to focus” actually mean focusing on their new products in 2018. However, they automaker did not comment on the medium sized camouflaged car that has been tapped to be launched in Essex, Germany, and the United States.
If you have not heard, the Ford Focus will be manufactured at the company’s Changan facility in China. This decision they made will help the American company save as much as $1 billion in costs as opposed to manufacturing the cars in the United States. For American-spec models, the cars will be imported from China and will be assembled in Ford’s Wayne, Michigan plant. They did not mention anything about shipping costs though.Read the entire article Ford shares another teaser of the 2019 Focus
Ford is ending the production of its Focus Electric in Europe, as its sales in the continent aren’t enough to rationalize the continued manufacture of the all-electric hatch. However, Ford will now import the Focus Electric from the United States to some markets in Europe where there is demand for the electrified hatch.
Graham Hoare, Ford's head of global vehicle evaluation, remarked during the sidelines of the Connected Car conference in the United Kingdom earlier this month that the decision to end production of the Focus Electric in Europe is mainly because of the fact that its volumes are not strong enough. However, Hoare noted that Ford will revisit the electric market in Europe once it reaches maturity.
Ford had been producing the Focus EV since 2013 at its manufacturing facilities in Saarlouis, Germany, where the carmaker is still producing the conventional versions (powered by internal combustion engines) of the hatch. Sadly for Ford, the Ford Electric isn’t selling so well in Europe. In fact, its sales have been below 100 units annually. According to market analysts JATO Dynamics, sales of the Focus Electric reached just 61 units in 2016, which is around nine fewer than its volume in the year prior (2015: 70 Ford Electric units).Read the entire article Ford ends production of Focus Electric in Europe due to low sales
Ford is gracing the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas with unmatched fervour as it showcases more than 50 vehicles, easily making it the largest stand at the event. Aside from displaying these models, Ford Out Front is also offering attendees of the SEMA Show an opportunity to watch or ride in one of Ford’s performance car or trucks on a closed course.
Of course, some of the special models at Ford’s booth are customized renditions of the Ford Focus ST and the Ford Fiesta ST performance cars. These hot hatches from Ford Performance are modified in SEMA style to show how they could match the preferences as well as needs of their owners.
Ford Performance created a street- and track ready Focus ST, a rally-bound Focus ST, a cyclist’s Focus ST, a well-round Focus ST, a stylish support Fiesta ST, and a track-capable Fiesta ST.Read the entire article Ford presents custom Focus ST and Fiesta ST at 2015 SEMA Show
When New York Times reviewed the new Ford Focus Electric in 2012, its headline tells it all -- "The Battery-Driven Car Just Got a Lot More Normal." Bradley Berman, the one who wrote the review, said the conventional and normal versions of the Focus have looks that are nearly identical, noting that the only visible indication that a model is the EV variant is the small 'Electric' badge.
Otherwise, the seats inside the Focus Electric were also “oh-so normal," Berman wrote. Since Ford commenced selling the Focus Electric, the figures were not so encouraging. In fact, Ford sold just 1,738 units last year – paling in comparison to Nissan’s Leaf EV.
Slow sales of the Focus Electric has taught Ford a good lesson, that customer don’t want their EVs look like just normal cars. The Nissan Leaf has its own body style distinct from Nissan’s conventional vehicles, and it has seen its sales linger at 21,822 units in the first nine months of 2014.Read the entire article Ford expects to increase Focus Electric sales with the $6,000 price reduction
Ford Focus Electric has just become more affordable as the American carmaker slashed the price of its electric car by $6,000. As a result, the Focus Electric is now priced at $29,995, including shipping. The price cut was made on October 13, will be available for all 2014 models and according to a Ford spokesman Ford will continue to offer the reduction until the 2015 models arrive.
For those who don’t know, this is the second time when Ford reduces the prices of the Focus Electric as in July 2013, the carmaker reduced the price by $4,000. Still, thanks to the $7,500 federal tax credit, the price of the Focus Electric is $22,495
Ford managed to sell around 1,500 vehicles this year, which means that the Focus Electric is still behind the Nissan Leaf and we don’t believe that it is a rival for the latter as 21,800 vehicles were sold in the first nine months of this year.Read the entire article Ford slashes price of Focus Electric by $6,000, now available at $29,995
The joint venture of Ford Motor Co. in China -- Changan Ford – has issued a recall of 191,770 Focus sedans built as early as 2009, according to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). The recall was issued following a discovery by AQSIQ of fuel leak risk in the Focus sedan.
AQSIQ probed into consumer complaints and concluded that refueling hoses in the sedan could crack and cause fuel leakage in extreme cases, possibly resulting to fires. Ford will replace the necessary parts to get rid safety hazards, according to a statement. AQSIQ could oblige Ford to widen the recall if it discovers more vehicles with similar issues.
Ford China spokeswoman Claire Li disclosed Changan Ford rolled out a customer satisfaction program in January 2012 with dealers covering 161,170 Focus vehicles for the same issue. She said the latest recall was an extension of the previous action to cover all vehicles concerned.Read the entire article Changan Ford recalls 191,770 Focus sedans over fuel leak risk

Back in March, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show we saw the Ford Focus Facelift and honestly we were very impressed by its looks. For the 2014 New York International Auto Show, Ford prepared the 2015 Focus Sedan and already showed the new vehicle ahead of its premiere in the Big Apple. Just like the hatchback version, the 2015 Ford Focus Sedan offers a new front end as well as new taillights and a new rear bumper.
For the 2015MY, Ford Focus receives the SE Sport Package, which consists of new body treatments, paddle shifters for the automatic transmission, a revised touring suspension as well as 17-inch black gloss aluminum wheels wrapped in P215/50 HR-17 tires.

Ford Focus is the top-selling nameplate worldwide in the first half of 2013 with a 20% increase compared to the first half of 2012. It received this same title for the entire 2012 and is on track to be recognized also for 2013. Furthermore, Ford Fiesta is the No. 4 vehicle in terms of sales. According to Polk global vehicle registration data, Ford is the only brand to have two nameplates among the global top five best-sellers.
There were 589,709 Ford Focus registrations in the first six months of 2013, mainly driven by the increasing demand from customers in China and other Asian countries. In China, Focus sales went up 137% from 2012, to a total of 202,380 vehicles.
This means that China is the single biggest global market for the car with a third of Focus sales. The Focus is being lauded for its smooth handling, advanced technologies, looks, performance, and fuel economy. It is doing well in other countries in Asia too. Through September, Ford says that Focus sales are higher by 193% in Indonesia, 72% in both the Philippines and Vietnam, and 42% in Thailand.Read the entire article Ford Focus is the top-selling nameplate worldwide in first half of 2013
The United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is probing incidents of stalling in Ford Focus electric cars after getting 12 consumer complaints. The preliminary evaluation covers 2012-2013 models years of the Focus electric cars and was launched after 11 of the 12 complaints claimed the vehicle shut down while driving, according to documents filed with the NHTSA.
The probe covers around 1,000 of the Focus plug-ins, which were launched in 2012. Around half of the incidents occurred while drivers were cruising at speeds above 30 mph, with all complaints received within the past five months, according to the NHTSA. No accidents or injuries, however were reported. A Ford spokeswoman said the carmaker is cooperating with NHTSA over the probe. NHTSA typically commences a preliminary evaluation when consumer complaints or manufacturer service bulletins suggest a possibly harmful defect.
Depending on the result, NHTSA either commences an engineering analysis or closes the probe. Depending on the result of the engineering analysis, a vehicle may be recalled or the inquiry may be closed. On the other hand, NHTSA is probing braking problems in BMW 328i cars from model year 2013 after receiving four consumer complaints.Read the entire article NHTSA probes stalling complaints from electric Ford Focus owners
A new ultra-efficient version of the Ford Focus 1.0-liter EcoBoost will be the first gasoline-run family car in Europe to offer carbon dioxide emissions of just 99 g/km. The Focus 1.0-liter EcoBoost returned 67.5mpg in mileage tests, all thanks to a calibrated 100PS version of the fuel efficient engine.
The new Ford Focus is set to feature Ford ECOnetic Technology – which includes ultra-low rolling resistance tires, distinct aerodynamics under the car and revised gearing – all designed to help increase the car’s fuel efficiency.
Barb Samardzich, European Product Development vice president, remarked that years ago, only a few thought that a medium-sized petrol car could break the 100g/km carbon dioxide emission barrier. He noted that Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine “has a habit of taking expectations of what a petrol engine can deliver and turning them upside down.”Read the entire article New 1.0-liter EcoBoost Ford Focus emits only 99 g/km of CO2

Ford and Toyota are both laying claim to the "world's best-selling vehicle nameplate" title. While Ford announced last week that its Ford Focus is the "world's best-selling vehicle nameplate" in 2012, Toyota is insisting that its Toyota Corolla was the real title-holder. Each carmaker sold over a million of their own nameplates, and they want more than just selling hordes of vehicles – they want to have the bragging rights, which only one of them could really claim.
So as to which nameplate is really the number one is the world, the answer is not that easy to determine since it depends on the definition of "nameplate," which body styles or derivatives are included, and who is keeping track of the sales figures. Erich Merkle, Ford's top sales analyst, cited Polk global new-vehicle registration data as basis for the carmaker’s claim to the title. Toyota spokesman Dion Corbett, begs to differ, saying that the Corolla is the global number one.
Ford issued a press release last week citing Polk data that said the "Ford Focus nameplate" topped the 2012 global vehicle registration figures. On Polk’s count, Ford sold around 1,020,410 Ford Focuses in 2012, boosted by gains in China and the United States. Polk’s count of the global figures for the Corolla was 872,774 in 2012.Read the entire article Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla fight over best-selling vehicle nameplate
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2013 Ford Focus Electric a top vehicle safety rating. Focus Electric, which is Ford’s first all-electric passenger vehicle, received a five-star Overall Vehicle Score for the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) testing, which merges vehicle performance in frontal and side-impact crash tests and rollover resistance.
Steve Kenner, global director of the Ford Automotive Safety Office, said that aside from the top safety rating, the Focus Electric also boasts a faster-charging technology that allows for a full recharge in 3 to 4 hours. Front and side airbag technologies are featured on the Focus Electric for its individual occupants.
The airbag for the driver has a reconfigured curve-shaped tether system that pulls in the lower section to make a “pocket” that helps in reducing the impact on the driver’s chest and ribs in the event of frontal crashes. The pioneering side airbags use one-of-a-kind shoulder vents that remain open and lessen the pressure for smaller occupants who usually benefit from reduced forces.Read the entire article 2013 Ford Focus Electric gets five-star safety rating from NHTSA
The United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has granted a top safety rating to the MY2013 Ford Focus after the model earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in the agency’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) testing. The NCAP testing combines vehicle performance in frontal and side-impact crash tests and a resistance to rollover evaluation. The new Focus features next-generation front and side airbag technologies as well as segment-exclusive Safety Canopy curtain airbags.
The airbag on the driver side features a curve-shaped tether system that pulls in the lower section during frontal crashes to create a "pocket" that helps reduce the impact of the airbag on the chest and ribs. Seat mounted side airbags, meanwhile, feature unique shoulder vents designed to line up with the shoulder area of a larger occupant, which should keep the side airbag from venting.
For smaller passengers whose shoulders are below the vent, the gas vents out of the airbag instead. Other safety and driver assist technologies installed on the MY2013 Ford Focus include AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control. This system helps the Focus maintain its intended path as it measures side-to-side yaw or skidding and monitor its speed, throttle position and steering wheel angle.Read the entire article 2013 Ford Focus earns a five-star rating from NHTSA
Performance ECU remap specialist Superchips Ltd. is offering a more dynamic and more menacing Mk3 Focus ST 2.0T. The latest production Ford Focus ST is already considered as dynamic and menacing, thanks to its 2.0-litre direct injection turbocharged Ecoboost engine that provides up to 246bhp of power and allows the hatchback to reach 154mph.
But the specialist’s latest latest product – a Superchips ECU remap for the Focus ST 2.0T -- is set to further improve the hatchback’s performance. Banking on a combination of chassis dyno and road testing, Superchips developed a performance remap for hatchback’s ECU, thereby optimizing boost levels, fuelling and ignition timing on the Ecoboost engine.
This results in a Superchips conversion that boosts power output and enhances response and refinement, but still retains factory failsafe protocols and reliability levels.Read the entire article Superchips offering performance ECU remap for latest Ford Focus ST
Nissan will build a new car in its Sunderland plant that will be competing directly with the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf in 2014. This marks the first time that Nissan will offer a new car in the European small family hatchback class since 2006, which is the time when the company discontinued the Almera.
Since then, Nissan had been promoting the Qashqai crossover, after it decided in the early 2000s that it may only participate in the family car segment by providing something different. Nissan used the same formula to the supermini segment, which launches the Juke in 2010 to drive sales success.
After achieving success with these two models, Nissan officials said that the company has gained more confidence and has increased its market share in Europe to provide a more mainstream model once more.Read the entire article Nissan will build a rival for the Ford Focus and Vw Golf
