The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been around for quite some time now but to bid it farewell, the company has launched the Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition. Mercedes will only build a total of 65 examples of the Final Edition, which will be sold worldwide. And each of them will come with a price tag of 310,233 euros (around $368,000).
To make it look exclusive and high-end, the SUVs will feature bronze accents on the exterior - from the 21 inch wheels, the bumpers, front grille surround, mirrors, to the center section of the spare wheel cover at the back. Both sides of the body get a high-gloss black trim in the protective strips, and the grille up front now gets a black mesh center.
Inside the Final Edition’s cabin are a number of upscale features like the black nappa leather that covers the seats, and the carbon-fiber-like finish for the seat bolsters. To give it some contrast while keeping it looking high-end, Mercedes gave the diamond quilted center sections bronze stitching. Furthermore, there is a light brown weave that highlights the carbon-fiber trim throughout the interior. Heated and ventilated seats will ensure the comfort of passengers when the climate changes.Read the entire article Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition will be limited to 65 examples only, each one at $368,000
While the official premiere of 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL/JLU) is already set this December, fans everywhere rejoiced at having had something like this appear on the web. Yes, everything we need to learn about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is now accessible thanks to the leaked owner’s manual and user guide posted at the JL Wrangler Forums website. You can find everything from technical specs, operation, down to the interior. The PDF files practically contain all the information about the new Wrangler. It’s pretty overwhelming so we kind of don’t know where to start but allow us to share the juiciest parts anyway.
For starters, why don’t we talk about the engine. The leaked owner’s manual reveals that the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL will have two powertrain options---one is a 3.6-liter V6 hybrid while the other is a 2.0-liter turbo hybrid gas /electric powertrain. The recommended fuel is 91 octane for the 2.0L (Hurricane) turbo and 87 octane for the 3.6 L V6 (Pentastar) which comes with a manual transmission.
It also seems that the next generation Wrangler has been equipped with all the latest features for safety, luxury and convenience that normally come with a premium model. Likewise, the new Wrangler is offered with the same off-road capability that has been known to brand, with nearly the same payload and towing capacity as the previous Jeeps. Meaning, the JLU can tow up to 3,500 pounds (1,587 kg) maximum, while the two-door Jeep has a maximum towing of 2,000lbs (907kg).Read the entire article Leaked: See what’s inside 2018 Jeep Wrangler owner’s manual
We all know about the Mercedes-AMG G63 and its capabilities, and we must say that it is one powerful SUV. However, it seems like one tuning company is still not satisfied with what it could already offer, so it decided to beef it up with an even bigger powertrain. But we have to say that German aftermarket tuner Posaidon did the right thing when it decided to upgrade the G63 in terms of looks and performance.
Now called the Posaidon G63 RS 850, it continues to have the same 5.5 liter biturbo V8 engine under its hood, except it has been tweaked to carry out as much as 850 horsepower (633 kilowatts) and 995 pound-feet (1,350 Newton-metres) of torque. This allows for a 3.6 second time when doing the 0-62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) sprint. The boosted engine now has quite an impressive top speed of 285 kmh (177 mph). For the sake of comparison, the G63’s original 5.5 liter engine only gave out 571 horsepower (425 kW) and 560 pound-feet (760 Nm) of torque from the factory.
Thanks to a remapped ECU with upgraded internals to the seven speed AMG Speedshift G-Tronic gearbox that made the performance upgrade possible. Other than that, the chassis also got a little bit of an upgrade, which now features an adaptive damping system with three varying settings. The modified Mercedes-AMG G63 now comes with a set of 10.5 x 22 inch alloy wheels that wear 285/40R22 high performance tires. It comes with gold-painted brake calipers just like that of the less powerful S63 AMG.Read the entire article Posaidon boosts output of Mercedes-AMG G63 to 850 HP
It can no longer be denied that Jaguar Land Rover wants to design some more hardcore type versions of their SUV range --- soon after launching the Discovery SVX only the previous month. As reported by Autocar recently, Gerry McGovern, British Design Director for Land Rover, reveals the possibility of adding an SVX badge into the Discovery lineup.
The SVX badge is created by Special Vehicle Operations, Jaguar Land Rover’s performance arm which designs the majority of its off-road models. In fact, both Jaguar and Land Rover have implied the SVX's advantage both for the next generation Defender and Jaguar SUVs. Jaguar’s director for design Ian Callum likewise stated their interest in the SVX badge. During the recent interview with British media outlet, Callum said that if Land Rover can provide its SUVs with an SVR, Jaguar can do the same with an SVX variant. If ever, this concept will likely apply on the I-Pace, E-Pace and F-Pace models as these are the only Jaguars with off-roading capabilities at this point.
With regards to Land Rover, Mc Govern believes that both premium design and durability should come hand in hand--- especially for an off-road SUV. And he believes that this could be achieved even without going all the way down to the basics. This is also why he thinks the next generation Defender is heading towards this direction.Read the entire article Land Rover Defender might soon be offroading-capable with upcoming SVX variant
It is called Tank but it is tamed enough to be legally driven on the streets. Here comes the new Rezvani Tank, an extreme utility vehicle (XUV) from the California-based maker of the Beast and Beast Alpha. Rezvani is calling the Tank as the most hardcore, most capable vehicle the California-based automaker has ever built.
According to the carmaker, the new Rezvani Tank XUV takes inspiration from the military vehicle of the same name. The name itself conveys the fact that it features a number of similar attributes as that of a tank, which is easily considered as one of the most recognizable vehicles in any military group.
The new Rezvani Tank is designed by Samir Sadikhov to be extreme yet good enough for civilian use. Its body-on-frame design is marked by a chiseled fascia as well as an aggressive grille flanked by sleek, defined headlights similar to those of the Beast and Beast Alpha sports cars. It features two LED fog lights as well as a roof-mounted LED light bar for great level of illumination whether on or off the road.Read the entire article Rezvani takes utilities to the military-like extreme with new Rezvani Tank
It was not so long ago when Ferrari said that they will never build an SUV. But Sergio Marchionne, boss of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, said in his speech at the New York Stock Exchange on October 9 that Ferrari is “dead serious” about their plans for a utility vehicle, which he refers to as the “FUV”. But after saying that, he also mentioned that it will take about 30 months for the automaker to decide on the production volume.
The 65-year-old CEO added that they’ll need to learn to master the relationship between scarcity and exclusivity before they can balance the desire to grow and widen their product portfolio. However, it is likely that production volume will be kept low so that the vehicle remains exclusive.
Many of us are surprised to hear that there will soon be a Ferrari SUV, considering the fact that they have been denying rumours of such a vehicle many times in the past. Though back in August, they did say that an SUV will probably happen. The reason why the automaker decided on this is probably because they know that the super SUV segment will expand significantly in the next few years. And one of their main competitors would be models like the upcoming Lamborghini Urus.Read the entire article Marchionne confirms Ferrari SUV production
Just last week, on October 5 and 6, Lamborghini opened two new dealerships in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and in Sterling, Virginia, respectively. The company’s CEO Stefano Domenicali attended both lavish events. The company decided to expand to prepare for the launch of the Urus performance SUV that will soon be available in the North American market.
The automaker hopes for the new dealer in Toronto to act as a hub for the brand in the country, considering that Canada is Lamborghini’s fifth largest market around the world. The Sterling store, on the other hand, is the first in the United States to feature Lamborghini’s new showroom design. The automaker believes that the Washington D.C. VIP will be lured into the new showroom.
The company believes that there is a huge market for the Urus, and that it will potentially be a bestselling car, particularly in the United States. The automaker thinks that this will be attractive to families and even women who want a performance hauler, unlike their two-seater models that are aimed at a niche market.Read the entire article 2 new Lamborghini dealers open in North America to usher in Urus arrival
As the rivalry between Volvo and Range Rover’s premium SUVs continue, Mercedes-Benz throws in the new GLS Grand Edition, a new trim option for its flagship three-row SUV model. The Grand Edition Euro-spec sport utility vehicle will be featuring brand new interior and exterior packages available for the GLS 350d, 400 and 500. The list consists of 20-inch alloys, several choices of colors for the body paint and a choice for leather lined interior.
To help draw the line between the standard GLS and this new level trim, Mercedes will be adding special GLS Grand Edition badges within the front end of the SUV. This will be placed next to the front wheel arches or on the side of the wings. The German marque will only make this available in Europe which will cost about $3,001 for the exterior and another $7,764 for the interior using the current exchange rates. In Germany, each package will be sold at €2,300 and € 5,950 respectively.
Nevertheless, the upgraded version will be offered with high end premium features such as the trim-exclusive porcelain and espresso brown cabin color motif and posh nappa leather seats with diamond quilt design and brown stitching. Its dashboard will likewise get the same leather material with light stripes and open-pore wood trims while the velour mats in espresso brown color are enhanced by the SUV’s special ambient light. On the outside, the 20-inch AMG-style black alloy wheels will be featuring ten-spoke design in high gloss finish.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz reveals the new GLS Grand Edition
Have you been stuck on the decision whether to get an SUV or a van, but can’t fit both in your garage? Well, worry no more because Toyota has come up with a solution to your problem. The concept is called the Tj Cruiser, and it is a hybrid of a van and an SUV. The “T” stands for “toolbox”, while “J” stands for Joy. And of course, there is no need to explain where “Cruiser” comes from as it has been used for years. Toyota plans to unveil this concept at the upcoming 2017 Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
First of all, Toyota gave the Tj Cruiser a special finish on the hood, roof, and the fenders to keep it scratch and dirt resistant - especially when objects unexpectedly come in contact with them. Like all other upcoming Toyota cars, the boxy half-van half-SUV will be engineered on the TNGA platform, while it gets a hybridized 2.0 liter gasoline engine. The concept will be able to accommodate both a front- and all-wheel drive setup. It will sit on a set of 20-inch alloy wheels wearing Bridgestone tires, and has a beefy suspension setup. Physically, it still looks like a minivan, especially with the flat roof and the seamless window line.
With the huge sliding doors, passengers will not have to worry about getting in and out of the vehicle. But it is not just the passengers who will benefit from this but also will be convenient to those who will have to load or unload large bags and sports equipment. Having said that, the Tj Cruiser concept can actually fit items up to three meters (118 inches) long, when both the front and rear seats are folded. What makes this SUV even more practical is that it comes with a number of tie-down points behind the seats as well as deck boards for anchoring things. As mentioned earlier, it has so much space that it can fit equipment like bikes, surfboards, and other bulky objects through the back door.Read the entire article Toyota solves your SUV-or-van dilemma with the TJ Cruiser Concept

An affiliate of Brabus, Startech has actually brought us the first ever customized variant of the British brand’s highly expensive sport utility vehicle. Since then, over a handful of Bentayga owners have been captivated by Startech’s tuning products and availed the German tuner’s special upgrades despite the incredible price.

Just a few days ago, the guys behind Alfa Romeo were celebrating after getting a hold of the crown for being the fastest production SUV to lap the Nurburgring, after the Stelvio beat the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S’ record.
Like many records set before it, there are those who question its veracity. In this case, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio took on the Green Hell, and finished in exactly 7 minutes 51.7 seconds. But we have been hearing things that there were a couple of issues in the video’s editing.
The website Bridge to Gantry, was the first one to throw doubt into the record. They pointed out a number of editing issues that could prove it to be fake. This video contains the full 7 minutes 51.7 seconds run of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. If you watch the video closely, the car appears to pass through the same location several times throughout the video. One particular example is the fact that the car passes the 2 kilometer sign twice right in the start of the video.Read the entire article Did Alfa Romeo cheat on the Stelvio’s Nurburgring run?
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has won its spot as the record holder for the Nurburgring when it comes to road-legal production cars. However, the Stuttgart based company has just lost the SUV crown to Alfa Romeo’s Stelvio Quadrifoglio. It was Fabio Francia who drove the SUV around the Green Hell, and luckily, he did well on the challenging corners of the track. In case you don’t know, Francia had taken the Giulia Quadrifoglio to the ‘Ring, and is responsible for its record breaking lap time of 7 minutes 32 seconds.
Though the Stelvio’s record is far from the Giulia’s, and cannot match that of its more agile sedan sibling, its 7 minutes 51.7 seconds record is still quite impressive. Especially considering the fact that former record holders like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S took another 8 seconds to go around the ‘Ring. Furthermore, when Alfa Romeo introduced the Stelvio Quadrifoglio at last year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, they said that the model would need 7:59 seconds to lap the Nurburgring. Surprisingly, the production version is even quicker than they expected.
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the brand’s first ever SUV, is 2.0 inches longer and 8.9 inches taller than the Giulia, with 2.5 inches more ground clearance. Under the hood is the same 2.0 liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, borrowed from the Giulia. It has 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. As for performance, the company claims that it can do the 60 mile per hour sprint in 5.4 seconds, before continuing to a top speed of 144 miles per hour. These numbers are quite impressive compared to other 2.0 liter powered SUVs. The engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic that gives power to the all wheel drive.Read the entire article Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio steals SUV record away from Porsche Cayenne Turbo S at Nurburgring
A few months back, Nissan announced that the 2018 Nissan Armada will be getting a number of upgrades. But now, the company has finally revealed what’s in store for the range topping Platinum Reserve trim of the SUV at the State Fair of Texas. And one of the coolest things it comes standard with now is the Intelligent Rear View Mirror that allows you to view the rear view camera as a mirror, or you could switch it to display the view of the rear-mounted camera.
The Platinum Reserve not only gets technology upgrades. Physically, it has been made to look more luxurious than the lower trims. For instance, customers could choose from two-tone leather seats that match the dark brown and quilted charcoal. And to add some extra detail, the stitching will be in orange. To further add to that, there will be Black Quartz trim around the cabin, and of course, an exclusive Platinum Reserve emblem on the console to let everybody know that the buyer drives the range topping trim.
To match the ultra-luxurious cabin, Nissan made sure that the Armada Platinum Reserve’s exterior looks just as unique. The grille gets dark chrome pieces around it, while the door handles and the mirror caps get an upscale look too. The new 20-inch wheels also get the same dark chrome finish.Read the entire article Range-topping 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve trim unveiled at Texas State Fair
Mercedes-Benz has grand plans for the production of its EQ subbrand, and part of this would be to restructure its 20-year-old factory located in Vance, Alabama. To do this, the automaker will have to invest about $1 billion in the plant, so they could also electrify all models in their lineup by 2022. All in all, they plan to electrify over 50 different models.
Markus Schaefer, member of the divisional board of Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for production and supply chain, said in relation to the investment that their global network is ready for electric vehicles considering the fact that there are production locations for EVs and batteries in several continents including Asia, Europe, and the United States. He was also glad to say that production of the EQ in the U.S. will be a lot quicker for them, because of the plant modernization in Tuscaloosa.
At last year’s Paris Motor Show, Daimler unveiled an EQ concept SUV, and it was described as a near production model. The EQ sub-brand consists of sedans, crossovers and SUVs.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz invests $1 billion in their Alabama factory for the EQ SUV
The Infiniti QX50 compact crossover has been in the market since 2014, and has not been given a facelift since then. After being in the market for almost four years, the SUV will be needing some updates to keep up with its competitors, though the company did say that the update will come in 2019, and that they will completely skip the 2018 model year.
This statement was confirmed by Infiniti on Tuesday when they said that they are not considering a 2018 model year QX50, but will focus on a better version of the vehicle for the 2019 model year, says Motor Authority. Engineers and designers will make sure that the new SUV will resemble the QX50 Concept we saw earlier this year at Detroit.
Right now, you are probably wondering what to expect from the 2019 model year. Well, sources say that it will come powered by Infiniti’s new Variable Compression-Turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine that they refer to as VC-Turbo - this was first previewed last August. For improved performance and fuel economy, the technology changes the cylinder compression ratio. As for performance, the first production unit is unfortunately less powerful than the 3.7-liter V6 found on the outgoing QX50 with 325 horsepower (242 kilowatts). That being said, it has 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) and 288 pound-feet (390 Newton-metres) of torque.Read the entire article Infiniti halts production of QX60 hybrid, skips 2018 QX50 for new 2019 model
The original classic Ford Bronco has become more relevant lately, thanks to the upcoming release of the all new version of it. The classic 1966 Bronco will make its way to this year’s 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas to be displayed before it heads to an auction later in the year.
In collaboration with WD-40, Vaccar built this custom first-generation Bronco to mimic the many uses of the brand. It had been designed with a unique blue and yellow livery on the exterior, accented with a single black horizontal line that runs through the sides, as well as the mirror caps and blacked out roof. The front fascia gets a bright yellow frame that matches the same shade of yellow around the wheels. There is also a WD-40 logo that is etched on the front fender.
From the looks of it, the Ford Bronco had also been raised up a little and has got a larger set of wheels wrapped in off-road tires. Though not everybody may be fond of the design of the WD-40 themed Bronco, with the blue finish and bright yellow accents - just like that of Ikea. Take note that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.Read the entire article WD-40 themed Ford Boosted Bronco by Aaron Vaccar prepares for 2017 SEMA Show
Around two weeks after Porsche unveiled the third generation of the Porsche Cayenne in Stuttgart, Germany, the sports car maker has taken the wraps off the turbo version of the sporty mid-sized SUV around 140 miles to the north in Frankfurt – the new 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
Simply speaking, the new generation of the Cayenne Turbo is Porsche’s mid-sized SUV on steroids. Compared to the next-gen Cayenne and Cayenne that were recently unveiled, the Cayenne Turbo represents a big boost in power. The 2019 Cayenne is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 340 horsepower of max output and 332 pound-feet of torque, allowing the base Porsche mid-size SUV to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The Cayenne S, meanwhile, employs a bi-turbo 2.9-liter V6 mill delivering up to 440 hp of output and up to 406 lb.-ft. of torque – good for a 0-100 km/h dash of 4.9 seconds. Top speeds for the next-gen Cayenne and Cayenne S are at 152 mph and 165 mph, respectively.Read the entire article 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo offers more power, active aerodynamics and better brakes
A lot of people would agree that the fastest SUV in the world, the Bentley Bentayga, needs no changes. But aftermarket tuner Kahn Automobiles thinks that the luxury SUV can be made even better.
Having said that, Kahn has just released the latest package that its customers could get with the Bentayga, and they are calling it the Le Mans Edition. The images posted here are of the Bentayga Diesel wearing the said package. But today, this Le Mans Edition is considered as a one-off and will have a selling price of $227,734.
One of the most noticeable exterior changes would be the matte black finish that has been given to the Bentayga. Moving into the cabin, the luxury SUV is now dressed in black 3D Herringbone perforated leather that matches the outside look of the car.Read the entire article Kahn presents the Bentley Bentayga Le Mans Edition
While the FJ Cruiser was no longer sold in the US since 2014 with the Trails Teams Edition being its final model, Toyota has now decided to terminate its production altogether. But before the FJ Cruiser takes its final bow, Toyota will first produce the stylish SUV’s Final Edition which is to be offered exclusively in Japan. If you still don’t have it, now is your last chance.
A little over ten years since the FJ Cruiser first came to the US, the SUV will be exclusively sold to its home market as the Final Edition. In other words, you won’t find a single copy of this in the US or anywhere else which makes it even more special. The FJ was available in America from 2007 up to 2014 only. While the Japan-spec has been around for as long as we can remember, the last batch for production will be featuring a special set of 20- inch alloy wheels, a model-exclusive side steps, a redesigned rear bumper with flog lights and a fender mounted left view mirror.
The FJ Cruiser Final Edition, which will only come in all- beige color both at the exterior and the interior will have some few black accents to spice things up a bit. At the same time, the retro-inspired SUV has been enhanced inside and out for a distinctively modern touch. However, some things stayed the same. Like for example, under the hood comes the 4.0-liter V6 gas engine mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to both the SUV’s front and rear wheels. Everything about the exterior still feels very retro, judging by the color and the shape of the vehicle. We could go on by saying there’s nothing quite so modern about its interior too. But changing it entirely will take away the whole essence of the FJ Cruiser.Read the entire article 2017 Toyota FJ Cruiser Final Edition: A bitter sweet farewell
