Seat confirms Tarraco name for new SUV, launch is set for end of 2018

Last year during the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, SEAT offered a list of name options that they will use for their all new three-row SUV. While three of those names were of cities, there was one that stood out as it paid homage to the western region of the Mediterranean Sea. Now, the automaker has announced which name they will use and that will be the Seat Tarraco.

If you are familiar with European geography as well as Roman history, then you must have already heard about the Roman city on the Iberian Peninsula. Today, it is known as Tarragona. When the poll was published, around 150,000 people voted in SEAT’s naming campaign. Of these votes, 35% went to Tarraco for a significant victory over the second most popular name, which is Avila.

We finally know what to call SEAT’s new three-row SUV. But do we know any more information about the car? Well, SEAT also published a teaser photo of it as you can see here. It does look like the SUV can fit seven passengers comfortably. We also know that it will be launched towards the end of the year - and that is pretty much what the automaker shared with us regarding this model.

Is the $80K starting price of 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio reasonable?

The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrofoglio is known as the world’s fastest SUV after proving itself lethal around the Nurburgring with a lap time of 7:51.7. Under its hood is a V6 engine that produces as much as 505 horsepower (376 kilowatts). And for a car this powerful to be in your garage, be ready to shell out a huge amount of money too - as the Stelvio Quadrofoglio has a starting price of $79,995 MSRP, excluding the $1,595 destination fee. This adds up to a total of $81,590.

With that price tag, we could definitely say that the Stelvio Quadrofoglio is not cheap. With that price, it actually is $38,000 more expensive than the regular Stelvio, which only comes out to be $41,995. But that is also because the standard Stelvio only carries a 2.0 liter engine that can carry out 280 horsepower (208 kilowatts). However, when looking at the prices of its closest rivals, we can say that it is competitively priced.

For instance, the 2018 Porsche Macan Turbo with Performance Package has a starting price of $87,495, but is also a bit less powerful by 65 horsepower (48 kilowatts) when comparing it with the Stelvio.

Rolls-Royce finally confirms Cullinan nameplate for its first-ever SUV

Finally, another automaker is getting on the SUV bandwagon. About to reveal its very first SUV is Rolls-Royce, which stated that “the wait is almost over” as it prepares to introduce Goodwood’s “High Sided Vehicle”.

BMW Group’s high end marque also shared plans of carrying over the model’s codename by deciding to baptize the new model as “Cullinan”. In fact, Cullinan was the working title about a couple of months ago, and all of a sudden, it is ready to make history - being Rolls Royce’s first-ever SUV.

The name of the car originated from Cullinan Diamond, which is the largest gem quality rough diamond ever found, with a weight of 3,106.75 carats (621.35g), according to Wikipedia. It was in1905 when this was discovered in South Africa’s Magaliesberg Mountains and was then named after the mine’s chairman, Thomas Cullinan.

2019 BMW X4 (G02) gets plenty of tech upgrades, will start selling in July

The first time you see the 2019 BMW X4 (G02), you wouldn’t notice that much of a difference compared to the outgoing model when it comes to the exterior. However, the German automaker actually gave it the latest technology so it can still be among the best models in its highly competitive segment. This model will go on sale in the United States in July 2018.

When looking at it from the outside, the X4 now gets a larger grille. Though its body does not look like it has grown perceptibly in size, the model’s measurements actually grew by 3 inches (76.2 millimeters) in length, 2.1 inches (53.3 mm) in wheelbase, and 1.4 inches (35.6 mm) wide. The ride height then lowers by 0.1 inch (2.54 mm). There’s good news for passengers as the legroom has been expanded by an additional inch (25.4 mm). Despite it being larger, aerodynamic drag has decreased to 10 percent.

The 2019 model year has been equipped with plenty of standard equipment including LED headlights. Inside, there’s a 10.25 inch infotainment display on top of the center stack that features navigation. There are safety assist systems like front collision warning, collision mitigation and braking, plus pedestrian detection. Extra features include a panoramic moonroof and three zone climate control.

It was a few weeks ago that Mercedes-Benz revealed the G-Class SUV to the public. And as early as now, they have already surprised us with the more powerful AMG version of it. It is definitely what we expected it to be - except it came earlier than we anticipated. Check out this 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63. Despite its huge, boxy size, this SUV is capable of accelerating to 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds. That makes it almost a full second faster than its high-performance predecessor.

You are probably wondering where all this power comes from. Well, apart from the obvious, which is the ample AMG supplied power boost, the same 4.0 liter biturbo V8 has been tweaked so it can carry out 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts). That definitely sounds like a lot despite the fact that it is actually 14 horsepower (10 kilowatts) more than the G63. But aside from that, it is also because the G63 also lost a significant amount of weight, and I mean 375 pounds (174 kilograms) to be specific.

Moreover, the G63 also has a whopping 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-metres) of torque, making it 100 more than the GT R and 60 more than its predecessor. Can you just imagine this boxy G-Class SUV outrunning many hardcore sport sedans out on the streets?

After unveiling the all-new 2019 Ford Edge ST at the Detroit Auto Show, the American carmaker is doing a surprising yet essential follow-up to the range-topping crossover model at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show – the all-new 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite.

As its name implies, the Ford Edge Titanium Elite is a step up from the Titanium package, while still lurking below the Platinum. In a sense, the Titanium Elite could be considered as Platinum Lite, although the moniker chosen is more indicative that it is one of the higher-spec models of the all-new Ford Edge. The introduction of the Edge Titanium Elite is Ford’s way of taking advantage of the fact that a good number of Edge customers prefer higher-specs version when purchasing a new crossover.

Ever since introducing the Edge in 2006, Ford has already sold more than 2 million units around the world, over 1.3 million units of them handed to customers in the United States. In fact, sales of all high-spec SUVs and crossover in Ford’s lineup have surged 6 percent in the past four years.

Later next month, Volkswagen plans to finally reveal the third generation or 2019 model year Touareg at Beijing, China. This is actually earlier than the initial plan, which was to debut the car in April. A couple of months ago, we saw spy shots of the SUV without its camouflage, which suggest that these are probably what we should expect from the production model. And now, the automaker published a single sketch that looks pretty much like the vehicle we saw in the spy shots.

The automaker’s goal for the 2019 Touareg is for it to have a more expressive design with an “unmistakeable appearance” that also has a strong character, according to Klaus Bischoff, Head of Volkswagen Design.

According to Volkswagen, their plan for the Touareg is for it to be the automaker’s flagship product in terms of design, while offering cutting edge technology. Though the automaker does not share a lot of details regarding these systems, the sensors we see on the spy shots indicate that it will have a sophisticated suite of driver assistance aids. The automaker promises that the SUV will be boasting the largest digital instrument display in its class as well, and this will be called the Innovision Cockpit. The Touareg is supposed to highlight new features that we have never used before, with its new type of infotainment system.

Last year, Chevrolet revealed to us their new Equinox RS. And this year, it seems that the automaker has decided to use the RS moniker again, but this time, on the Traverse SUV. Of course, the Traverse RS gets a complete makeover inside and out. As its name suggests, the “Rally Sport” variant gives it a more distinct kind of fun to drive sportiness, according to Chevy. Too bad it does not improve the engine’s horsepower here.

Having said that, the Traverse RS remains with the same 2.0 liter turbocharged Ecotec engine, delivering 257 horsepower (192 kilowatts) and 295 pound feet (400 Newton metres) of torque. This engine should then come with a nine speed automatic transmission, giving the Traverse RS better fuel economy figures of 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

When looking at the RS version from the outside, one would notice a sportier looking Traverse - this includes a black grille, black window trim, black roof rails, and black bowtie emblems. It also now comes standard with HID headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, upper and lower active aero shutters, as well as a set of 20 inch aluminum wheels finished in what they call the Dark Android shade.

Around two years ago at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, Nissan introduced three concepts of winter vehicles, based on the Murano, Pathfinder and Rogue. Since these were made for the snow, they come with snow tracks instead of wheels. Now, in 2018, the automaker decided to highlight a new wintery concept that is closer to being a production model, and far from the Winter Warrior concepts, with the new 2018 Nissan Armada Snow Patrol. It will make its debut together with the bizarre 370Zki.

The snow patrol version of the Nissan Armada is based on the standard version of the 2018 model year, with a 5.8 liter V8 and a seven speed automatic transmission, giving out 390 horsepower. Both wheels and tires have been replaced with a set of 20 inch Cognito Series 61 wheels, covered in Pro Comp MT2 off road tires finished in satin black. The Armada’s suspension has been raised up front and in the back as well.

Today, we associate the Nissan Armada with luxury SUV, despite being associated with the Nissan Patrol for the longest time, which is an off roader and an expedition vehicle.

We all saw the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class as it made its very first appearance weeks ago at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Though we only witnessed it very recently, the automaker confirms that we will soon be seeing more unique AMG versions of it.

Ian James, G-Wagen’s Marketing Manager said during his interview with Automotive News that the G-Class AMG is not that far away from being revealed. He also continued by saying that this will be available for the upcoming 2019 model year, which only means that we should expect to see it this year.

Because of his statement, do not be surprised if an artist from X Tomi has already begun rendering this. This G63 rendering is likely what we will see in early March before any other variant. Moreover, the automaker has also already given up a preview of what must be the more powerful AMG model, by showing off this G-Class in the AMG Line specification, finished in white. Yes, the AMG is really just a visual package for the off-roader, but it comes with a handful of upgrades. One of the main upgrades is a larger and more powerful biturbo 4.0 liter V8 engine.

Back in the late 90s, Isuzu came out with the two-door Vehicross SUV. If you’re a fan of the brand, you’ll surely remember it. That is because this model had distinct features like its unique body cladding and distinct styling.

In fact, this model became somewhat of a cult classic among off road enthusiasts. Despite already being unique, there is an even more exclusive version of the Vehicross that you have not seen, and it was dubbed the Ironman Edition.

Supposedly, the automaker’s original plan was to build 1,000 examples of the Vehicross Ironman Edition, but the exact number of how many units actually made it out of the production line is unclear. Besides that, the seller stated that the example being sold is just “1 of 86 units ever made”.

Are you one of those people whose favourite colour is black? If you are, then you will definitely love this murdered out BMW X5 M example here. And by the way, let us be clear that mounting black wheels on a random black car does not make it qualify as having been murdered out. Speaking of blacked out cars, check out this X5 from Z-Performance. At first glance, you would think that this example is owned by your favourite villain who wants to rule the world.

Almost every week, we hear from at least one aftermarket tuner, but Z-Performance isn’t one to make a lot of noise on a regular basis. And even if they don’t, did you know that they have actually been around for 26 years now? One reason why not everybody knows of this tuner is also because they specialize in customs wheels more than anything else.

Having said that, this BMW X5 had been given a set of forged 22 inch Z-Performance wheels that measure 10.5 inches wide and a full 12 inches out. Of course, the wheels were finished in no other than matte black in the center, with glossed up lips.

After all the talks about the Ford Ranger’s return to the United States, as well as the revival of the Bronco (finally!), it is so easy to forget other things like the Explorer. Since 2016, the automaker has been testing the next generation Explorer out in the open, and it has been a while since the first time we saw spy shots of it. But recently, sources have come out to disclose major modifications done on the 2020 model year Ford Explorer. Its production is slated to begin in 2019.

Ford insiders have told The Truth About Cars that the sixth generation Explorer will be given a significant makeover, one of which is its use of a new rear wheel drive platform, specifically the new modular CD6 architecture.

Its body panels will likely be built mostly out of steel, and it will be assembled at an assembly plant in Chicago. Similarly, its Lincoln-badged counterpart will share the same platform as the Explorer and will be built in the Windy city. It will also have a body made out of steel too.

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is not a name we always hear in this industry, but they are making quite some noise this time as they announced that they are working on a new project. This time, it is unlike their past models such as the SCG003 hypercar or an upcoming sports car, because this one can apparently go off road.

And the automaker calls this utilitarian buggy the Boot. The company is very confident with this vehicle that they will actually take it up the Ojos del Salado volcano in the Andes Mountains, with a height of 22,615 feet (6,893 meters) tall, to test it. If SCG succeeds, it will be bringing home a world record for high altitude driving.

At this point, SCG is still developing the Boot, so the specs are likely going to change. But the current prototype of the off roader gets its power from a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8, which is paired to an automatic gearbox (and the only one that will be available). A manual gearbox isn’t possible, as the automaker does not see a demand for this. In fact, even on the 004S, the firm’s manual orders are far outweighed by the automatic ones. Nonetheless, SCG states in a post on Facebook that their 004S will be manual.

As of today, Jeep’s smallest SUV would be the Renegade, measuring just over 13 feet (396 centimeters) long, and 5 feet (152 cm) tall. To compare that with its largest range topping model, the Grand Cherokee has impressive dimensions of 16 feet (487 cm) long and almost 6 feet (182 cm) tall - that depends on the trim level still. Now, the American automaker believes that they could go another size down from the Renegade, as they plan to introduce a new SUV to be built in Europe.

In an interview between Automotive News and Mike Manley, the automaker’s CEO, he mentioned that the company is looking into an SUV that will be sized smaller than the Renegade, which he refers to as the “baby” Jeep. If this model pushes through as planned, it will be built in Europe, and will be sold in markets outside of the United States. Too bad, the Americans won’t get a mini Jeep.

If everything goes as planned, the baby Jeep will be built where the Fiat Panda minicar is being built, at FCA’s factory in Pomigliano, near Naples in Italy. According to some sources, the American automaker has been tossing around the idea of a baby SUV at FCA’s Pomigliano plant since early last year, telling them that this model could be built on the same platform as the Panda, 500 minicars, and the Lancia Ypsilon. However, this project has suffered many stops and starts.

Automotive News announced that the loyal customers of Rolls-Royce will be among the first to see the new Cullinan SUV that will be unwrapped behind closed doors. Meanwhile, the general public and the press will have to wait until the latter part of the summer before they can see the much anticipated model for themselves.

If you were not aware, Cullinan is actually just a codename for the automaker’s SUV project. And even if the production version will have a different name, the automaker has yet to inform us what it is. Another thing we noticed is that the automaker refers to the vehicle as a “High Sided Vehicle” instead of an “SUV”.

As you can see in the photos, the Cullinan gets a boxier and more chiseled body, where the front end appears to be very similar to the Phantom. This includes the rectangular LED taillights and the thin intakes underneath them.

Supercar makers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Lotus, at some point, have already stated that they would produce SUVs. While McLaren has not joined the bandwagon, it likely won’t be holding out for long if it wants to make loads of money like the rest of them. But there is another automaker that has not been mentioned a lot in this discussion of SUVs, and that is Bugatti.

For the longest time, Bugatti denied the idea of creating both a sedan and an SUV. One reason is that it is difficult to imagine an SUV with the same performance DNA found in models like the Veyron and Chiron. However, there is one artist that threw caution to the wind and imagined a Bugatti SUV that bears some Chiron design elements. Aksyonov Nikita is that artist. His rendering of the French performance SUV looks amazing and actually looks ready for the year 2020.

These photos were first published by the artist on his Behance page, before it circulated around the internet. He is also known for rendering a lot of other cool cars like a Porsche 918 Spyder among others.

After releasing images of the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the American brand has finally unveiled in metal the world-renowned mid-size sports utility vehicle at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.

Serving as an update or a refresh of the fifth generation of the Jeep Cherokee (KL generation), the 2019 iteration of the vehicle features a new, authentic and more premium design that remains faithful to the iconic Jeep styling. As previous images had already shown, the new Jeep Cherokee features an all-new front end that aligns with the mid-size SUV on the premium side of the Jeep family while sporting the iconic Jeep styling.

For instance, the new 2019 Jeep Cherokee now features conventional unified headlights. The new bi-LED projector headlamps have incorporated the signature Cherokee daytime running looks into one fixture, providing a fresh look, allowing the 2019 Cherokee to follow the visual lead of the latest iterations of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The new 2019 Cherokee also features dual LED fog lights on the re-sculpted front fascia. Likewise, the new 2019 Cherokee has retained its signature waterfall hood and is mated to the seven-slot grille – signifying the mid-size SUV as a member of the Jeep family – in a single piece. Clean visual lines separate the sloping lightweight aluminum hood from the front fenders.

With all the photos Mercedes-Benz has been posting of the new 2019 G-Class, not one of those featured the SUV in a light exterior finish, as they were all in black, or other darker shades. It’s only today that they showed off the Night Package in a brighter shade of red. And all we can say is that it looks very stunning.

You are probably wondering why the Night Package here comes with a lighter body paint. Well, that is because it refers to certain parts of the SUV that has been blackened, including the turn signals, taillights, and headlights. The cabin windows now have tinted glass as well, while the grille’s slats, vertical sections of the bumpers, side mirror housings, and the surround for the spare tire carrier at the rear will be finished in Obsidian Black.

The A-pillar accents, as well as the accents that go up the roof, have a matching look too. The 2019 G-Class with the Night Package rides on 20-inch multi spoke wheels with dark details. All these new blacked-out parts act as a perfect contrast to the red body, as you can see in the photos.

When you first glance at the Rhino GX SUV, the first thing that will come to mind is that the vehicle probably has a military style cabin, with thinly padded seats, plenty of metal, surveillance cameras all over, and mounts for your weapons.

That is perhaps because of its massive size, as it measures around 19 feet long, eight feet wide, and seven feet tall. With those dimensions, of course it weighs a lot, and I mean five tons. With that size, finish it off with a Stealth Black, Tactical Green, or Desert Sand paint job and it will look like a handsome tank that people will be scared of.

Though it may look really badass on the outside, the Rhino GX SUV actually looks very comfortable and luxurious on the inside, which is a total contrast from what people see outside. The Executive edition, in particular, gives the leather-trimmed interior additional wood trim with chrome accents. Power seats and power foot rests get heat controls, while the huge sunroof lets in light from above.
