National Highway Traffic Safety Administration disclosed that spiders attracted by gasoline vapors as well as weaving webs blocking a hose to vent those vapors have prompted Suzuki Motor of America to recall around 19,000 MY2012-2013 Kizashi midsize sedans.
NHTSA said that blocked air flow in the Kizashi‘s evaporative emissions system can result to negative pressure in the fuel tank, possibly leading to cracks that may cause leaks, thereby increasing risk of a fire. This issue is similar to the one experienced in Mazda6.
Mazda has called back the Mazda6 twice since 2011 due to spiders creating webs in ventilation hoses. The carmaker has not received reports of crashes or injuries tied to the issue, Suzuki told NHTSA.Read the entire article Spider webs on vents prompt Suzuki to recall MY2012-2013 Kizashi
Suzuki GB revealed that its Kizashi Sport ‘D’ segment car will be released to the U.K. market. This mid-sized saloon car is the first from Suzuki and has a stylish and sleek appearance while being able to house five passengers and their respective luggage. With a total length of 4,650 mm, width at 1,820 mm, and height of 1,470 mm, it makes the Kizashi truly one of the most compact saloon cars in the ‘D’ segment.
In Japanese, Kizashi means “a sign of great things to come” and it truly is as it was specifically made to become Global Suzuki’s leading model for the passenger car range.
As such, the Kizashi is not only able to redefine the traditional performance expected from a saloon but also move the brand upscale while remaining to have the traditional focus on value and content. While the brand’s design DNA is all about having an energetic and active personality, the Kizashi enhances this by giving it a refined yet strong performance. It has an unusually rigid steel body that has been strengthened with a suspension in the front and a multi-link suspension in the rear, both composed of aluminum.Read the entire article Suzuki introduces the Kizashi 4WD in the UK

Suzuki will be displaying two new concept cars based on the Kizashi model at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. Suzuki has said that it will display a stylish and urban sedan that’s fitted with a recently-developed powertrain.
Suzuki hasn’t provided details about the second car but it’s likely to be a show car or a limited edition model that’s reminiscent of Suzuki’s motorcycle history.
Even if the Kizashi hasn’t gotten a lot of attention in the U.S., Suzuki remains optimistic that things will turn around. The Kizashi may be stylish, sporty, and affordable but it hasn’t really had much of an appeal to American customers. So far, there are absolutely no details available yet on what engines will be used to power the concept cars.Read the entire article Suzuki confirms two Kizashi concepts for the 2011 New York Auto Show

Apparently, not every carmaker that has business in China has reaped overflowing success. Suzuki is one such example as it has decided to shut down its office in Shanghai since the joint venture it had meant to enter with Changan Auto failed to prosper.
A report by gasgoo.com indicated that Suzuki chose to terminate local operations because of the disappointing sales of the Kizashi, which it had the highest expectations for.

Marking Suzuki’s first entry in the mid-sized segment is the Kizashi, which translates to "something great is coming.” Suzuki anticipates that the vehicle’s sporty design and competitive price will prove to be too difficult for consumers to resist. In the European market, the Kizashi will be going up against the Volkswagen Passat, Opel/Vauxhall Insignia and Ford Mondeo.
Later this month, the Kizashi is slated to debut in key markets such as Germany, France, Russia and the UK. Before the year ends, an all-wheel drive variant with a continuously variable transmission is expected to arrive.
Suzuki said that it is not going to challenge the segment's top three sellers but instead, it aims to win sales from Japanese rivals such as the Toyota Avensis, Honda Accord and Mazda6 as well as French competitors such as the Citroen C5 and Peugeot 407.Read the entire article Suzuki hopes that Kizashi will be a surprise hit for the European market

The all-wheel drive Kizashi from Suzuki was first presented to the media back in July 2009. With a composed platform, a rigid structure, and a suspension that has been tuned on Nurburgring, this midsize sedan has shown that it has a trick or two up its sleeve. It is powered by a DOHC 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 185 horsepower, the highest for the four-cylinder class.
No wonder the Kizashi has been praised not only by the media but even by consumers. Additional proof of this is that it garnered first place in the 2010 Vehicle Satisfaction survey conducted by AutoPacific. By August 2010, the Kizashi will now be in a category where Bonneville streamliners belong.
To make this possible, different improvements were done on the Kizashi by Tom Habrzyk and Richard Holdener -- both from Advanced Product Engineering. The Bonneville Kizashi will then be driven by Sam Mitani Road & Track and will participate in the Blown Gas Coupe group, the actual race of which will be held in Wendover, Utah, on August 14.Read the entire article Suzuki Bonneville Kizashi ready to blow away the competition
Due to the current worldwide economic crisis Suzuki is forced to delay its intentions for the following year introduce its latest large car, and this decision also includes the delay of the construction of their new manufacturing plants located in Thailand and Russia.
It was reported by the daily Nikkei publication of Japan and preserves identical pronouncements from a list of automotive manufacturers as the auto industry maintains a dormant posture.
The initial intention was to publicly introduce a large car concept in the following year modeled after the Kizashi variants, the latest of which was the Kizashi 3, a chic sedan concept introduced at the New York Auto Show the previous year that most resembled a standard factory sedan among the three show cars.Read the entire article Sukuzi delays the launch of Kizashi-based sedan
Kizashi, Suzuki's new sports saloon available in two- and four-wheel drive, goes on sale later this year. Based on the Concept Kizashi of 2007, the car will initially feature a 2.4-litre DOHC inline four-cylinder engine. The unit is linked to a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle shift.
A hybrid version will soon join its lineup. Suzuki tested the Kizashi at the rural roads of England and at Germany's Nurburgring racetrack, proving that it is both sporty and comfortable.
The suspension is multi-link at the rear, constructed of aluminum, and the car has 18-in. alloys at each corner. Compared to the concept car, the production Kizashi is far less radical. The front end is similar to that of the Volkswagen Jetta while the rear is curved and unadventurous.Read the entire article 2010 Suzuki Kizashi unveiled

The mid-sized sedan segment is a highly competitive one and for Suzuki to get ahead, it will allocate half of the new Kizashi sedan's $30 million marketing budget in 2010 to US dealers, according to Kevin Saito, president of American Suzuki Motor Corp. Suzuki didn´t have the budget for a national launch and after listening to the dealer advisory board, it decided to redistribute the marketing funds, said Scott Pitman, president of Suzuki of Wichita in Kansas.
Last year, its sales dropped by 54% in the US, more than double the industry's decline. The new Kizashi sedan has started arriving in showrooms. In January 2010, sales were 44% lower than the same month last year. What makes this more depressing is that the market rose 6%.
According to Greg Chaney, of Chacon Suzuki in Dallas and New Braunfels, Texas, the budget for each car is significant but since its rivals are selling 5 or 10 times as many cars as it does, then every dollar has to count.Read the entire article Suzuki will steer half of its Kizashi sedan marketing budget to U.S. dealers

American Suzuki Motor Corp. is making its presence felt as it enters the all-wheel-drive sport sedan market with the introduction of the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi. While the company is mainly known to manufacture motorcyles and small vehicles, this latest offering combines premium craftsmanship and design with dynamic performance, resulting in a combination not yet seen for this class. This makes the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi a possible contender for car of the year.
Pronounced as "Kee-Zah-Shee", it is expected to become Suzuki’s flagship vehicle and help expand and strengthen the company’s current line-up of trucks, SUVs, and small cars. Kevin Saito, American Suzuki president, shared that when they developed this latest model, they chose to use the Japanese word 'Kizashi' for the name as it referred to something great that was coming.
This was very appropriate for this model, he added. Now that the production version is here, the company hopes that the name, and ultimately the product itself, will show the strong statement the company is making with the release of this vehicle while also hinting at what the future could be like for its line-up, Saito continued.
