Kia is taking things a step further with the new Kia Stinger, which they first introduced at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. With the specs given to us by the company, it seems like the sports sedan will be at par with Mercedes and BMW’s new offerings.
Firstly, the said model has been equipped with a powerful 3.3 liter biturbo V6 engine, which is capable of producing as much as 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts). To prove those numbers, the company decided to take the Stinger out for a drive at no other than the Nurburgring. One thing we know is that only the good sports sedans head to that track to prove themselves worthwhile.
So, the Kia Stinger proved itself right as it went through 480 laps and over 6,200 miles (10,000 kilometers) around the Nurburgring in a span of a few weeks. But that’s not all, as the diesel-powered Stinger also sprinted around the Green Hell for double the distance - that is 12,400 miles (20,000 kilometers). We owe thanks to the Kia designers and engineers for ensuring that the aerodynamically sport sedans were made to perform as we expect them to. With all that mileage used up during the test phase, we are pretty confident with the Kia Stinger’s stamina.Read the entire article Prototypes of the Kia Stinger took on the Nurburgring with 480 laps of hard testing
The BMW New Class of automobiles are considered as adorable boxy premiums. It was a generation of automobiles produced around 1962 and 1977 that has spawned the BMW 2002, which is treated as a must-have for the loyal BMW patrons. The New Class cars consists of models that include the 1500, 1600, 1800 and 2000 models- the last of which gave us the coveted 2002.
2002's powerful 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine and its lightweight features proved to be irresistible to many car enthusiasts. Moreover, it’s difficult to find these cars in good shape because there’s intense competition in getting the amazing models. The so-so models will require plenty of modifications to be considered at par.
Now, the American comedian Jay Leno has brought this modded 2000 beauty in his garage. This particular BMW 2002 was made by the Bavarian Workshop, and the automobile was built for a certain customer who preferred to see their father's car restored back to its former glory. The automobile was not driven for many years, but nevertheless was in a good shape. This made it the perfect candidate to be modified.Read the entire article Jay Leno welcomes BMW 2002 restomod to his garage [w/video]
The Tesla Model S has finally arrived in South Korean soil and is now available for test drive. But, there’s a catch. You’ll have to wait several months if you were not one of the first few hundreds to sign up for the test-drive.
What I mean is that if you purchase a Tesla Model S online or at the showroom, there is a higher chance of you getting your vehicle way ahead of time, than you getting that 20- to 30-minute test drive. In fact, the wait list is so long that it would take six months for those who signed up last. And nope, that was not a typing error when I wrote six months.
The reason behind this is that Tesla only has two showrooms in South Korea, and both of them are fairly new. Each showroom can only accommodate around 10 test drives per day, giving each person the chance to take the car out for a drive for about 20-30 mins. So, ten times two, that’s just twenty people per day for the whole nation. Having said that, there’s probably around 3,600 people in line to test drive the Model S. And the only way to fix that problem is for Tesla to open more showrooms, or to accommodate more people per day.Read the entire article There’s a six-month waiting list to test drive Tesla’s Model S in South Korea
When Lexus unveiled the LC 500 luxury sports coupe, it proved to the world that it is brave enough to reinvent itself. Well, it was not long ago when Lexus was considered as a premium brand that has become utterly boring. That could be because Lexus has been creating premium cars with similar designs, similar cues and similar values.
We couldn’t blame Toyota’s luxury brand for doing that. Lexus spent not just years, but decades of building a reputation for high quality and very reliable vehicles. With this, Lexus was able to experience a surge of success. But its own achievements were what made Lexus quite hard-headed about reinventing itself to become a premium manufacturer of also sporty and exciting luxury cars.
Enter the Lexus 500 luxury sports coupe. This flagship coupe is the company’s strongest statement – so far -- regarding the future direction of its production line. It is bound to influence Lexus’ lineup better than the Lexus LFA sports car. While the luxury brand during recent years has been introducing new models like the IS, NX, and RC -- all of which boast of high levels of emotion – the LC 500 is a personification of performance, luxury and athleticism and style.Read the entire article Lexus reinvents itself by marrying sportiness and luxury with LC 500 grand touring coupe
The race for delivering street-wise autonomous vehicles is heating up as Mercedes-Benz recently received permission from the German government to conduct on-the-road tests of its experimental units.
This isn’t the first time that Mercedes-Benz was granted permission to test its autonomous vehicles. However, the latest approval involves the next generation of the carmaker’s autonomous prototypes, now installed with its newest software dubbed as Daimler Autonomous Vehicle Operating System (DAVOS). These autonomous prototypes are derived from the Mercedes-Benz V-Class (Viano) mid-size passenger van. These test vehicles are fitted with advanced Lidar sensors to allow the DAVOS software to do its work. DAVOS employs a graphic processor and deep-learning technologies to perform as expected.
With these technical specs, these new autonomous prototypes should be able to theoretically operate by themselves. However, two specially trained drivers will be on board each test car for safety reasons. By having these prototypes deployed in real-world conditions, Mercedes engineers would be able to fine-tune the DAVOS software.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz gets permission to test autonomous cars in Germany
When it comes to being the top crossover, there are only two models that can confidently say they have been in the market for at least 20 years. This is the CR-V from Honda and the RAV4 from Toyota. It really does not come as a surprise to know why these two are also the most popular.
Many are likely familiar with the fact that utility vehicles had a start during the 1970s with the 4x4s. However as more customers demanded vehicles that offer better ride, displays improved fuel economy, and comes with the latest in infotainment and electronic systems, this has led to crossovers entering the market.
For the 2017 CR-V in particular, Consumer Reports reveals that while the prior generation had a rather bland interior, the new version has a cabin that is not only plush, but classy as well. According to Honda, when they developed the new CR-V, they wanted a crossover utility vehicle that would be fitting for the upmarket. It is no wonder then that the 2017 CR-V not only has a cabin that is quieter but it is also a model that delivers a better ride. This was a result of two things with the first being an excellent usage of noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) engineering and the second the inclusion of an active noise cancelling system. Honda however was apparently not done with this as the brand managed to give the CR-V a more enjoyable drive by using qualities previously seen on the Civic.Read the entire article Consumer Reports predicts the new 2017 Honda CR-V will be a bestseller
After British brand Bentley Motors became a part of Volkswagen in 1998, the first model that it came out with was the Bentley Continental Grand Tourer (GT). It has been produced in volumes since 2003 – the first Bentley really to be given the mass-production treatment. Notably, it shares a platform with the Volkswagen Phaeton. It could be differentiated from the previous Continental R & T models by looking at how it was conceptualized.
It’s believed that Bentley’s transformation into a major brand known all over the world is largely credited to the success of the Continental GT. It isn’t a coach-built vehicle and while it is mass-produced, a substantial part of the entire process is still accomplished by hand. By doing this, Bentley was able to sell it in a much lower price – approximately half of the cost of a Continental R.
Because of its affordability, it drew in plenty of new customers from a wider demographic. It was at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003 that the Continental GT was introduced. The first-generation Continental GTC received excellent reviews and its elegance impressed consumers as well as the important players in the auto industry. The excitement for this new grand tourer was mostly centered on its impeccable silhouette – a trademark of Bentley’s famed convertible range.Read the entire article Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible Test Drive: Striking The Perfect Balance Of Luxury And Performance

The latest Range Rover model has all the trademark elements seen in the previous versions but somehow, its designers were able to build on them and create a fresh style while keeping its elegant nature.
Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern said that with the passing of four decades, the brand felt the need to preserve the icon’s DNA in creating the next-gen model. He shared that the group that handled its design sought to retain its classy measurements and untainted surfaces in order to keep its identity as a Range Rover.
Every aspect of the new model’s engineering was revamped with the primary goal of making the most capable model yet. At the center of this undertaking is the next-generation Land Rover's Terrain Response system that is a pioneer in the industry.Read the entire article See why Range Rover's interior is the most luxurious among SUVs
While the 4th generation Range Rover can’t be mistaken for any other model, merely glancing at it makes the viewer detect a certain freshness about it. At the Paris Show in September 2012 where it was launched, countless people visited the automaker’s booth to see just how the first SUV in the world to have a lightweight all-aluminum monocoque body structure would look.
They were not disappointed since the Range Rover still has its original iconic design and its adventurous essence; however, it was built from the ground up. Its lines remain elegant and clean but it’s apparent that its design elements were given a new twist.
This Range Rover reflects the brand’s intention to bring its look a step forward in its evolution timeline. If anyone were to ask an expert or an avid fan on what makes the Range Rover distinctive, the answer would probably be its trio of lines on the lower accent graphic, its unbroken midline, and a ‘floating’ roofline.Read the entire article 2015 Range Rover HSE: extreme test drive on the Dubai dunes
No other sport utility vehicle in history can claim that it is as tough as it is luxurious. Only the Range Rover model built by British automaker Land Rover holds a reputation of providing unrivalled off-road capabilities from a four-wheel drive SUV while offering the highest level of comfort and convenience.
The motoring industry has not been the same ever since the first-generation Range Rover was launched in 1970. Unsurprisingly, production of this model only ended in 1996. The second generation arrived 25 years after the first model rolled out.
It came with improved Rover V8 engines as well as with a 2.5 BMW turbo diesel. Upgrades were made just so it could be successful in rising above its competition, which includes several Japan-produced models and the G Klasse.Read the entire article 2015 Range Rover HSE Test Drive In The Dubai Desert
Buick has launched the “24 Hours of Happiness" – a test-drive program that allows customers to take test-drive vehicles home overnight. The automaker has planned a national advertising campaign that includes TV ads. The automaker is urging dealerships to enrol in this program. But rather than being a promotion that’s short-term, Buick actually intends for this to be a long-term strategy.
This offer is a “long-term brand promise,” according to Buick brand chief Duncan Aldred. He made the decision to push through with this program on the national level after he received positive customer feedback from a pilot program that was recently conducted in the Phoenix area. When interviewed, Aldred said that this move proves to customers that they’re really confident in their vehicles.
This concept of a 24-hour test drive isn’t a new one. In 2003 to 2004, GM had a similar campaign across its brands. GM went beyond and offered to give $250 to anyone who had test-driven a GM vehicle but decided to later on buy from a rival. GM had focused on boosting sales. For the 8-month period of the promotion in 2003, it recorded more than 500,000 extended test drives.Read the entire article Buick lets you test-drive their vehicles for 24 hours
An experiment is underway to test self-driving vehicles on a portion of the A9 autobahn that connect Berlin and Munich, according to Transportation Ministry spokesman Ingo Strater. The experiment would the first to be done on a stretch of public highway, an unrestricted one nonetheless. Strater remarked that the German auto industry has recognized that field of driverless vehicles is developing, adding that the government would want to support that.
The driverless section in the autobahn underscores the current push for cars that don’t need the drivers’ intervention when on the move. According to Strater, the project would allow autonomous cars cruising on the test section of the autobahn to communicate with each other as well as with the infrastructure itself. He said that the goal will be to link the road and the vehicles to cut traffic jams and improve road safety.
The autonomous autobahn project will initially include testing sensors, measuring systems and vehicle communication, according to the Transport Ministry. The first autonomous car to cruise the autobahn may not happen before the end of the year.Read the entire article Section of A9 Autobahn to be used for testing self-driving vehicles
Although the new halo car for Lexus, it appears that the specialized media is not too interested in the new RC sports coupe. The Japanese company notified journalists that a new-car test-drive event was canceled and the reason is quite unusual: lack of interest. What’s more interesting is that both Japanese and non-Japanese media were invited.
For those who don’t know, the Lexus RC sports coupe was unveiled last year and is inspired by the LF-LC Concept. Lexus will offer its new coupe in two versions, the RC 350 powered by a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine with 306 hp (236 kW) and 227 lb-ft (375 lb-ft) of torque and the hybrid RC 300h, which uses a 2.5-liter engine.
The most powerful version of the RC Coupe will be the RC F Coupe. This model is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine which delivers more than 450 hp and 383 lb-ft (518 Nm) of torque.Read the entire article Journalists are not too interested to test drive the Lexus RC sports coupe

Mitsubishi Motors has completed another stage of testing during the development of Outlander PHEV, this time letting the vehicle experience cold weather in Russia for two months. The testing was part of the goal to make the Outlander PHEV a truly global vehicle that could thrive in all possible driving conditions in all regions in the world.
Prior to the Russia testing, the Outlander PHEV already went hot weather testing in the United States and cold weather assessment in Canada. Three test cars accumulated over 30,000 km during over eight weeks of testing in Russian cities of Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Tolyatti, where they were subjected to a very low temperature of below -30° C and snow-covered road surfaces.
Despite the harsh weather, the Outlander still managed to eke out a good performance, with no issues for the charging system. Mitsubishi’s engineering team has already subjected the Outlander PHEV to places where conventional EVs thrive, testing the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle on various road surfaces.Read the entire article Mitsubishi completes Russia cold weather testing of Outlander PHEV
General Motors will provide a $5,000 incentive to Cadillac dealers who would offer test drives of its ELR plug-in hybrid. Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell said the offer, dubbed as Demonstrator Allowance Program, is designed as a tactical move to attract more test drives of the ELR, who was off to a slow start following its launch.
Caldwell said GM initiated the program due to the “newness of the ELR,” adding that that it is a “different brand.” GM is also offering discounts of up to $3,000 to customers, according to recent report by The Wall Street Journal. ELR inventories are steadily rising, with around 1,700 ELR coupe models in stock at the end of April, equivalent to a 725-day supply, according to the Automotive News Data Center.
Caldwell remarked that GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck site that builds the ELR has had heavier production since the start of 2014 it will in the summer or fall. Industry analysts, however, view things differently. Cadillac started selling the ELR in late December for a starting price of $75,995 -- including shipping – something which analysts and dealers didn’t welcome.Read the entire article GM to launch incentive program for Cadillac ELR test drives to boost sales
