2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is a true wagon with more cargo capacity and best-in-class rear legroom
European motorists can now wave goodbye to Toyota Auris Touring Sports and say hello to the new 2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports. The Corolla Touring Sports beats its wagon predecessor in terms of wheelbase, rear legroom, and cargo capacity.
Bound to be unveiled to the global public at the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show next month, the all-new Toyota Corolla Touring Sports continues the carmaker’s practice of offering wagon versions of their other models.
Nonetheless, there are quite a number of differences between the Corolla Touring Sports and the Auring Touring Sports. The most important of these is the fact while the Auring Touring Sports is essentially a hatchback transformed into a wagon, the Corolla Touring Sports was designed and developed to be a proper wagon, thanks to being underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-C platform.Read the entire article 2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is a true wagon with more cargo capacity and best-in-class rear legroom
China is considered as the largest auto market in the world, and Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corporation isn't letting go of title. Aside from its conventionally powered products, Toyota is accelerating its China-based vehicle electrification efforts by launching 10 new electrified vehicles in the country by the end of the decade.
Leading the charge for Toyota are the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions of the Corolla and Levin passenger cars in 2019. To show its commitment, Toyota unveiled the Corolla PHEV and the Levin PHEV at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. According to the carmaker, both the Corolla PHEV and the Levin PHEV expected to achieve an electric driving range of 50 km or farther. Production of these two new PHEV models is seen to commence in China in 2019.
Toyota launched the conventional hybrid variants of the Corolla and Levin in 2017, with production done domestically. The carmaker – through its local partners – intends to do same with the Corolla PHEV and the Levin PHEV, as it aims to achieve locally based vehicle electrification.Read the entire article Toyota unveils PHEV versions of Corolla and Levin to be sold only in China
The Toyota Corolla iM, once offered in the United States under the name Scion iM, is a compact five door model that the Japanese automaker decided to give a new name for the next generation - the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. This model essentially is a North American version of the Euro-spec Auris that made an appearance at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
When being compared to the model it replaces, the car has been elongated by 1.5 inches, now being 172 inches long. The wheelbase, on the other hand, measures 103.9 inches long and and is now 70.5 inches wider (1.2 inches wider), it has also been lowered by an inch, now being 56.6 inches from top to bottom.
Similar to the Auris, and most of Toyota’s new models, the Corolla Hatchback will soon be be based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, that comes along with a quieter cabin, thanks to the extra seals in the body panel gaps and the sound proof materials.Read the entire article 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback will make its debut with a new look
When Toyota first revealed that it will be showcasing a total of 30 vehicles for the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association, enthusiasts could hardly contain their excitement. However what is even more thrilling is that six of these have been modified to show just how extreme Toyota’s models can go.
According to the Japanese automaker, each of these six models either honors the brand’s heritage, looks at the current state, or projects what the future will be. There are also models that appear to be a combination of these three. Since the brand will be having what can be considered as the largest exhibit in the history of the SEMA Show, it is not surprising that Toyota went on this path. Below are the six models that Toyota took a chance on and gave a number of improvements.
The first is the Swagger Wagon, which is actually the Sienna in blue. Some would call this as the height of luxury when it comes to transportation, with the best description of the Swagger Wagon being that it is similar to a flying jet. While this minivan is now wider and lower, the brand put a number of enhancements composed of carbon fiber as well as those inspired by racing. However, the interior is what makes it stand out given its use of custom-leather, capacity for wi-fi connectivity, and the inclusion of a high-end theater system. With all these on the inside, customers are likely not to concern themselves with how the exterior actually looks.Read the entire article Toyota reveals 6 extreme vehicles at 2016 SEMA Show [Live Photos]
Fifty years ago in November 1966, Toyota rolled out and started selling the first Corolla in Japan. Two years after in 1968, Toyota commenced sales of the Corolla in the United States. Ever since that fateful year, Toyota has sold over 43 million Corolla cars around the world.
With that figure under its name, the Toyota Corolla has fully cemented its status as the number one car in terms of worldwide sales throughout history. During the 50-year period, the Corolla has been touching lives. For instance, actress Gina Rodriguez drove her Corolla from New York to Hollywood to pursue her acting dreams.
Actress Hannah Simone, meanwhile, had her driving skills learned and honed using her father’s Toyota Corolla. In celebration of this half-a-century milestone and as a tribute to the car that played a vital role in the life of millions of drivers and customers, Toyota has launched the Corolla 50th Anniversary campaign. This campaign is a year-long drive that aims to show how the Corolla was behind more milestones, memories and moments than any car in the world.Read the entire article 2017 Toyota Corolla unveiled, receives 50th Anniversary Special Edition
When Mazda started selling the 2014 Mazda3 last fall, the compact received awards as the driving enthusiast's choice in the segment. It sales, however, has been dropping every month since August 2013. In fact, the Mazda3 posted a 27-percent dive in sales in the first two months of 2014.
Since the Mazda3 is being sold using Mazda’s near-premium pricing strategy, it has fallen prey to the ongoing price war between its two main rivals -- Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. While Mazda has been limiting incentives to maximize transaction prices and profits, Toyota and Honda are shoring up theirs.
According to Dennis Bulgarelli, director of the automotive practice at Millward Brown Digital, the Mazda3 has ended up as collateral damage in the Corolla-Civic battle. The 2014 Mazda3 went on sale around the same time as the 2014 Corolla.Read the entire article 2014 Mazda3 caught in pricing war between Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic
The next Toyota Corolla will receive improvements so that it can do well during the tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, particularly in the challenging small overlap front crash test. Toyota Corolla doesn’t exactly have the best safety record. Many of its models, including the 2014 Toyota Corolla, were given “Marginal” or “Poor” ratings by the IIHS.
Toyota is reportedly attempting to improve its scores on the safety tests by reworking the RAV4, Camry, and Prius V. According to a report from Automotive.com, the Toyota Corolla is due for a safety update too. Toyota executive vice president Mitsuhisa Kato said that the automaker is already working on improving the Corolla.
It’s likely that the 2014 Toyota Corolla will get structural reinforcements so that it can get a high score on the small overlap test, which crashes the vehicle moving 40 mph into a barrier that covers just 25% of front surface of the car.Read the entire article Toyota Corolla will be updated to improve its IIHS crash test rating
The redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla failed to score good ratings on the small overlap crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The overhauled compact Corolla received a "marginal" score on the small overlap test, which simulates a 40 mph crash in which the driver-side corner of a vehicle hits an object like a utility pole or tree.
IIHS introduced the new test partly because around 25 percent of highway deaths caused by head-on collisions result from small overlap crashes. The 2014 Corolla’s marginal score in the small overlap test rendered it unqualified to receive any IIHS honors in 2014, when an "acceptable" or "good" score on the small overlap test is a prerequisite for either Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ honors. The 2014 Corolla’s failure to get a good score is also a blow for Toyota, which has been struggling with the test since it was launched in 2012.
Three Toyota vehicles -- the Toyota Camry sedan, the Prius V hybrid and RAV4 crossover – all received "poor" ratings on the small overlap test for 2013.Read the entire article 2014 Toyota Corolla gets marginal rating on IIHS small overlap test
By 2014, Toyota Motor Corp. wants to already have started exporting the compact Corolla sedan from the U.S. to 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Toyota said that the production of the Corolla models will be exported starting in April 2014 at a factory in Tupelo, Miss.
In the first year of sales, Toyota expects to export over 7,500 Corolla sedans from the U.S. to Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Toyota Corolla is also built in Canada. According to a Toyota spokesman, plants in Japan, Brazil and Venezuela will continue to be the supplier of Corolla models offered in Latin America and the Caribbean. By cutting customer lease payments on the redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla, the automaker hopes for its market share in the compact segment to recover. Toyota accomplishes this by placing residual values significantly higher than before, says dealers and lease trackers. Toyota and its finance captive are expecting lease-end values to be a lot higher than those of rival cars that have gotten stronger residuals than the Corolla.
Toyota is able to decrease the monthly payments by increasing the residual forecast and lowering the principal carried on the lease. This is considered to be a major factor as Toyota aims to be at the top once again in the very price-sensitive compact sedan segment. Before Honda Civic took the No. 1 spot in 2012, the Corolla held the top position for nine straight years.
Critics didn’t like the 2012 Civic but sales grew because Honda boosted the incentives. The incentives offered for the Civic this year are nearly zero. Nevertheless, the Civic (191,120 units) still sold more than the Corolla (183,435 units) for this year through July.Read the entire article Toyota cuts lease payments on 2014 Corolla to boost share
Toyota is launching the redesigned 2014 Corolla in a media campaign that involves musical memories associated with various vintage Corollas. Toyota didn’t divulge what the campaign costs but it should be high, considering that launching the redesigned Camry two years ago cost over $175 million. The ads we’ve seen since early September appear to have been inspired by "The Ed Sullivan Show," a grunge nightclub, "Soul Train," a curbside breakdance contest, and a modern dubstep flash-mob street scene.
Toyota is showing how the Corolla of each era has been a part of musical evolution and how it affects all demographics. The ads -- part of the campaign known as "Elevate Your Style" – have scenes that are in supersaturated color, in contrasting black-and-white, or darkened blur depending on the time being portrayed. It’s unclear what the settings are but making the ads truly pop out is its music. For the ad, Toyota got the rights to songs such as Le Freak by Chic and Rusty Cage by Soundgarden.
Toyota didn’t just focus its campaign on TV. Social media play a big role with Vine and Instagram as shared-content channels while Online, Yahoo!, MSN, YouTube and Hulu will show the sponsored content. In addition, Toyota made an app that allows those with iPads to get a 360-degree view of the car's interior and exterior. Shoppers are also able to put in their personal notes.Read the entire article Musical media campaign for 2014 Toyota Corolla launched

Toyota Division is expanding its "Let's Go Places" advertising theme by conducting experiential marketing events at several music, art and food festivals across the United States this summer. "Let's Go Places" will attend events and festivals like Artscape, Gourmet on Gore, Eat Real SF and the Life is Good and Life is Beautiful festivals – all of which promotes creativity, healthy living and philanthropy.
While the national promotion is mostly linked to the launch of the redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla, it also parades other models like the customized SpongeBob SquarePants 2014 Toyota Highlander. The SpongeBob Highlander also will be used in Toyota's separate "Happy Driving" tour, which is cross-promoted with Nickelodeon.
"Let's Go Places" could be considered as a promotion that aims to boost interest for the 2014 Corolla, which is due to arrive to dealerships in September 2013. Toyota Corolla is well-loved by consumers in the United States. The proof of this lies on the fact the Toyota Corolla was the best-selling compact in the US for 10 years in a row. However, there is one country where people may surpass the love given to the Corolla in the US -- Afghanistan.
Hans Greimel of Automotive recently came across a report by Agence France-Presse in the Hindustan Times of India that claims that a majority of the 700,000 cars that ply the busy roads of Kabul, Afghanistan are Toyota Corollas.
Citing Gen. Asadullah Khan, head of Kabul's traffic police, the report said that around 80 percent of vehicles roaming Kabul's roads are Toyota Corollas, many of which are second-hand units imported from Europe or North America.Read the entire article Afghanistan loves the Toyota Corolla more than the United States
It’s official, the 11th generation Corolla was unveiled today showing an impressive exterior design, upgraded interior styling and improved efficiency. According to Toyota, the Corolla is the best selling vehicle in the world (if you ask Ford, then Focus is the best-selling car) and in order to keep this title, the Japanese manufacturer decided to give the 2014 Corolla a dramatic change.
As you can see from the photos, the all-new 2014 Corolla is clearly inspired by the Furia Concept showed back in January at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show and features an expressive front fascia with more pronounced details and a stylish new rear end with more precisely sculpted surfaces. The 2014 Toyota Corolla rides on a longer wheelbase (+ 3.93 inches/ +100 mm compared to current model).
As a result, the new sedan is also 3.90 inches (99 mm) longer than the outgoing model. These are the dimensions of the 2014 Corolla: overall length 182.6 in. (+3.90 in.) 183.1 for S-grade 4639 mm (+99), 4650mm for S-grade; overall width 69.9 in. (+0.63 in.) 1776 mm (+16); overall height 57.3 in. (-0.39 in.) 1455 mm (-10).Read the entire article 2014 Toyota Corolla arrives with new exterior design, upgraded interior styling
The all-new 2014 Toyota Corolla is ready to make its debut but first photos with the real deal were published on a Spanish website. Looking similar to the Furia Concept unveiled back in January, at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, the 2014 Corolla comes with a revolutionary design comparing it with the outgoing model.
The 11th generation Corolla aims to seduce a younger audience and as a result it will feature a sporty design with large air intakes found on the front bumper, smooth lines at the rear, stylish headlamps and taillights and new wheel designs.
Moreover, the 2014 Corolla will also be more spacious as its wheelbase increased from 2.55 to 2.70 metres, which means that its rivals such as the Chevrolet Cruze and the Honda Civic will see their sales numbers go down.Read the entire article Leaked: This is the 2014 Toyota Corolla
Ford and Toyota are both laying claim to the "world's best-selling vehicle nameplate" title. While Ford announced last week that its Ford Focus is the "world's best-selling vehicle nameplate" in 2012, Toyota is insisting that its Toyota Corolla was the real title-holder. Each carmaker sold over a million of their own nameplates, and they want more than just selling hordes of vehicles – they want to have the bragging rights, which only one of them could really claim.
So as to which nameplate is really the number one is the world, the answer is not that easy to determine since it depends on the definition of "nameplate," which body styles or derivatives are included, and who is keeping track of the sales figures. Erich Merkle, Ford's top sales analyst, cited Polk global new-vehicle registration data as basis for the carmaker’s claim to the title. Toyota spokesman Dion Corbett, begs to differ, saying that the Corolla is the global number one.
Ford issued a press release last week citing Polk data that said the "Ford Focus nameplate" topped the 2012 global vehicle registration figures. On Polk’s count, Ford sold around 1,020,410 Ford Focuses in 2012, boosted by gains in China and the United States. Polk’s count of the global figures for the Corolla was 872,774 in 2012.Read the entire article Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla fight over best-selling vehicle nameplate

Toyota introduced the Corolla Furia Concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show and as its name says it, the new vehicle hints at a future design for company’s most popular compact. According to the official press release, the car was designed around a theme of “Iconic Dynamism,” which uses pure and simple surface elements in order to create a confident, decisive and recognizable appearance that appeals to more young consumers.
In terms of design, the car is a dynamic interpretation of a compact sedan that displays a more stable, athletic stance with 19-inch allow wheels. The vehicle features an aggressively-designed front fascia, with a blacked-out grille treatment, new LED headlamps, rear LED taillights and new carbon fiber accents that adorn its wheel wells, rocker panels, and rear valance.
"The Corolla Furia Concept is an early indicator of where our compact car design may lead in the future," said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota Division. "It blends a heightened emphasis on dramatic design and modern elements of high technology to generate curb appeal that will surprise a lot of people."Read the entire article 2013 Detroit Auto Show: Toyota unveils the Corolla Furia Concept
