More potent VW Amarok is meant to rival the Mercedes-Benz X Class

During the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles decided to tease European pickup truck enthusiasts with a more powerful version of the V6 Amarok that’s dressed in a striking Turmeric Yellow Metallic. This model is called the Aventura Exclusive Concept, and now has a direct road going rival in the shape of a new range topping version of the luxury workhorse.

Today, the strongest Amarok is packed with 221 horsepower (165 kilowatts) and 406 pound feet (550 Newton metres) of torque. All these come from the 3.0 liter TDI V6 engine. This version has a little more power at 255 horsepower (190 kilowatts) and 428 pound feet (580 Newton meters) of torque. This stands for as much as 34 horsepower improvement of 34 Hp and 22 pound feet (30 Nm) of torque.

That is not all though, because it will be equipped with an overboost function that will temporarily increase the current output of the vehicle by an extra 13 horsepower, totaling up to 268 hp (200 kw). Having said that, this engine is paired to a 4Motion all-wheel drive system through a standard eight speed automatic transmission. The maximum torque is rated at a low 1,400 rpm, whereas the full version is available from 3,250 rpm.

Audi is not going to reveal a V6 powered R8 at 2018 New York Auto Show

For many years, the internet has been making noise about a new Audi R8, and recent reports said that Audi will finally introduce an entry level R8 that will be equipped with a biturbo 2.9 liter V6 engine at the upcoming 2018 New York Auto Show. But apparently, all that was just a false alarm. In an interview between Road and Track and an Audi spokesperson, it was revealed that the R8 is not getting a V6 engine.

For quite some time now, the automaker did mention that the company is planning on installing a new V6 like that of the RS5 Coupe and RS4 Avant, in a cheaper R8 version, just below the V10 version. To further support that statement, there was a roadmap that was revealed around two years ago showing that the V6 powered R8 will be launched in 2018.

We do think that the automaker really planned on building one, but they had probably changed their mind and decided that they would instead keep the V10 model that produces 540 horsepower as the base version of the mid-engined supercar.

Mercedes-Benz unveils X350d 4Matic X-Class at 2018 Geneva Motor Show

Mercedes-Benz is set to unveil the new X350d 4Matic X-Class at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It was back in July 2017 when the brand first premiered its pickup which utilizes the chassis, as well as certain body panels, of the Nissan Navara. First-ever Ford F-150 diesel version is set to arrive this spring, specs released

Ford Motor Co. revealed that it will be offering a new Power Stroke 3.0-liter V6 engine for its F-150 trucks. With this addition, customers now have a total of six choices for the engine of the F-150.

The new engine is capable of delivering 250 hp with peak torque of 440 lb.-ft., figures that customers are sure to love. Fuel efficiency meanwhile is expected to be at an EPA-estimated value of 30 mpg highway. Towing capacity is projected to be the best for its segment at 11,400 lbs. with payload capacity measured to be at 2,020 lbs.

This latest engine was designed by none other than the same powertrain team responsible for coming up with the Power Stroke 6.7-liter engine used in Ford’s Super Duty trucks going back as far as 2011. The new engine was developed in order to meet the specific demands of F-150 customers in North America. These are customers that haul and tow more frequently compared to customers in other markets. Proof of this is the fact that the maximum torque is accessible at 1,750 rpm, with strong torque being delivered all across the rpm range. These features make the F-150 the best vehicle to haul, or even tow, heavy loads across long distances.

For potential customers wanting to purchase the new Rezvani Tank but think that its 500-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine is just too much, the carmaker is offering a lower-powered option. Now, customers could opt to have the Rezvani Tank powered by a V6 mill.

Rezvani has recently presented the second variant of the Rezvani Tank, the new Rezvani Tank V6. Its 3.6-liter V6 engine is able to deliver up to 285 hp of output and up to 260 lb.-ft. of torque. This mill is able achieve a fuel economy rating estimated at 25 miles per gallon.

Aside from the engine, there are no vital differences between the Rezvani Tank V8 and the Rezvani Tank V6. The V6-powered Rezvani Tank still features the same distinct elements, like its rugged design, off-road-tuned suspension system and on-demand 4x4 system.

Toyota has been silently preparing for the eventual comeback of the Toyota Supra sports car for some time now. Audi’s intention to bring out the Renn Sport Racing version of the Q5 was made clear when it unveiled the Audi SQ5 at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show early this year. As revealed, the Audi SQ5 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 TFSI aluminum engine that delivers 260 kW (354 hp) of max output and 500 Nm (368.8 lb.-ft.) of peak torque available between 1,370 rp and 4,500 rpm. This allows the SQ5 to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 5.4 seconds on the way to reaching an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph).

Buick hasn’t officially revealed any details about the next-gen Regal GS, but the brand is expected to offer such a model considering the fact that the previous generation has a GS version and this performance-oriented was quite a hit.

McLaren is said to be designing the next generation of Sports Series, which could include a V6 hybrid among its powertrain options. It was earlier reported that the British automaker has a 6-year plan to develop hybrid electric powertrains for its supercars. McLaren however did not elaborate much on the details about its “Track 22” project.

In a recent interview with Car & Driver, McLaren’s CEO Mike Flewitt said that it’s all about the character. For them, it doesn’t matter if it is going to be a V6, a V8, a V10 or a V12 as long as its performance is good. Also, as much as most people love the “manual-shifting V12”, he thinks it’s rather outdated by twenty years. This is why they are not so attached to the “cylinder count” from the very beginning. Instead, the CEO pointed out the fact that they are more into “performance and excitement”.

Having just come out with V8 engines a couple of years back, the McLaren 570 S and 540C are still using the same updated engine versions of the V8. Though not yet confirmed, the current V8 could be replaced especially after Flewitt commented that they are working on a new V6 hybrid powertrain.

Volkswagen Group’s dieselgate saga continues, but it appears the German company would be able to get out of trouble, but it would not be unscathed. This development comes as Volkswagen entered into an agreement with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and regulatory agencies to compensate customers whose vehicles are powered by the group’s 3.0-liter TDI diesel engines implicated in the emissions cheating scandal in 2015.

The new settlement agreement covers 83,000 Volkswagen Group vehicles powered by the group’s 3.0-liter TDI V6 engines that have been found to have employed software that helps them evade the emissions testing process. No thanks to this software, these V6 diesel engines seem cleaner than they actually are. Parties in the agreement – coming in the form of a proposed Consent Decree – include Volkswagen AG, Volkswagen Group of America, US DOJ, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the State of California, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the California Attorney General. The latest settlement agreement is more or less similar to the one that covers Volkswagen’s 2.0-liter TDI engines.

Under the proposed Consent Decree, Volkswagen has agreed to recall and/or buy back the affected 3.0-liter TDI V6 vehicles from Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche brands. The program will be separated into two parts.

A forum post in Mustang6G and a succeeding blog post have revealed some interesting details regarding the 2018 Ford Mustang. While there may not be a lot of details divulged, there is enough to get an idea of what to expect. We get for instance an idea of what colors to expected for the regular version and the Shelby.

In terms of transmissions though, it will still use the automatic version but instead of the 6-speed unit, it is fitted with a 10-speed one. This is the same one inside the Raptor and even some of the F-150 models. The shift is not that surprising considering that this can be seen as the best next step and if equipped correctly, can enhance not only performance but efficiency as well.

On the outside, there is the possibility that the 2018 Ford Mustang will have new headlights and new taillights too. There is also the chance that the bumpers will be redesigned. At the rear portion, Ford is likely to make a dual exhaust available, though the post does not show on what engine it will be paired with.

Chrysler Group is introducing improvements to its Pentastar family of V-6 engines – the Pentastar Upgrade or PUG, sources told Automotive News. PUG will feature direct injection, turbocharging and other technologies that will allow Chrysler to use smaller displacement engines for its vehicles – a part of the carmaker’s strategy to comply with stiffening corporate average fuel economy standards.

According to sources, upgrades will result to higher power output as well improved fuel economy. The improvement may also include a possibility for turbocharging naturally aspirated engines. Sources said that for now, Fiat's MultiAir variable valve timing technology will still be used. The first 3.6-liter PUG V6 will make its debut in late next year in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

An improved 3.2-liter PUG V6 will also be fitted on the redesigned Chrysler Town & Country minivan due 2016, people privy with the carmaker said. The current minivan is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6.

Porsche’s Cayenne GTS received a facelift today and now, the Cayenne lineup is almost complete, as we still need to see the new Cayenne Turbo S. The biggest change on the new 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS Facelift is that the new model ditched the old 4.8-liter V8 engine in favor of a new 3.6-liter V6 biturbo engine.

The new engine delivers 440 hp and 600 Nm of torque. As a result, it is more powerful than the previous V8 (+20 hp) but also more fuel-efficient because fuel consumption goes down by 0.9 l/100 km.

The new engine helps the Cayenne GTS to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds, or in 5.1 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package (0.6/0.5 seconds faster than its predecessor), while top speed is 262 km/h or 162 mph.

The 2015 VW Touareg Facelift not only received an updated design but also an upgraded V6 diesel engine. According to the German manufacturer, over 90 percent of all Touareg models sold in Europe are equipped with a V6 TDI engine and as a result, Volkswagen modified and upgraded the engine by adding an SCR catalytic converter.

Thanks to the new catalytic converter the engine meets the Euro 6 emissions standard. Volkswagen offers two versions of the V6 TDI engine. The first one delivers 204 hp (150 kW) and due to the addition of the standard 8-speed automatic transmission, fuel consumption was reduced from 7.0 to 6.6 liters of diesel per 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 173 g/km.

The second version of the V6 TDI engine was boosted from 245 hp (180 kW) to 262 hp (193 kW) and thanks to the new 8-speed transmission fuel consumption falls from 7.2 to 6.6 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 174 g/km of CO2.

Believe it or not, some of the engines powering Maserati's flagship Quattroporte and its hot-selling entry-level Ghibli sedan have blocks machined right in Detroit. During summer, employees at Chrysler Group's Trenton Engine Complex have been machining aluminum 3.0-liter V-6 engine blocks – as supervised by Ferrari engineers.

The blocks -- with cast-in steel cylinder liners --are being sent to Ferrari SpA’s plant in Maranello, Italy, for finishing. They will then be fitted into Maserati vehicles. This marks the first time that Chrysler has had a hand in building engines for the luxury nameplates of its new parent -- Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

According to Brian Harlow, global head of powertrain manufacturing engineering for FCA, Chrysler is machining around 50 engine blocks per day for Maserati, with production set to expand to 80.

Back in April, Mercedes-Benz introduced in Europe the new SL400, a new model powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine developing 333 hp (245 kW) at 5,250 to 6,000 rpm and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque at 1,600 to 4,000 rpm. Today, we found out thanks to Autoblog that the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SL400 available also in the United States and has a starting price of $84,000 excluding the $925 destination charge.

We also observed that the US-spec SL400 comes with 329 hp, but it is still a fast car as it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.1 seconds. So, if you don’t want the SL550, which comes with a 4.7-liter biturbo V8 and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, the SL400 could be the perfect choices.

Also the $22,900 difference looks pretty interesting as the SL500 is priced at $106,900 excluding the $925 destination charge of course.

Porsche officially introduced today the 2015 Cayenne Facelift, an updated version of its popular SUV that will hit the US dealerships starting November 1. The new generation of the Cayenne will be available in four versions in the United States: Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and the all-new Cayenne S E-Hybrid, while Europe will also get the Cayenne S Diesel.

Just like it did on the Panamera Facelift, Porsche will offer a new 3.6-liter V6 biturbo engine that will replace the old V8 on the Cayenne S. This new engine delivers 420 hp (309 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 550 Nm of torque available from 1,350 to 4,500 rpm – a gain of 20 hp/15 kW and 50 Nm. Bolted to a standard eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the 2015 Cayenne S Facelift accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds (5.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package), while top speed is 259 km/h or almost 161 mph. Despite being 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Cayenne S, the new model has a NEDC fuel consumption between 9.8 and 9.5 l/100 km (229-223 g/km CO2), which is 1 litre less than the previous V8 engine.

The 2015 Porsche Cayenne Diesel Facelift uses the 3.0-liter V6 that generates 262 hp (193 kW) at 4,000 rpm as well as 580 Nm of torque and using the Tiptronic 8-speed transmission it can push the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.3 seconds (7.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package), while maximum speed is 221 km/h or 137 mph. Fuel consumption is between 6.8 and 6.6 l/100 km, which translates into 179-173 g/km of CO2 emissions.

The Peugeot 2008 DKR made quite a buzz when it was revealed earlier this year and honestly we can’t wait to see how it performs at the 2015 Dakar Rally with just two driven wheels. Today, the French carmaker released further details and specs of its brand new monster and says that the DKR can practically climb vertical walls.

Of course, we don’t believe this, but we must admit that the video released by the company amazed us. According to Peugeot, the 2008 DKR is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo diesel delivering 340 hp and 800 Nm.

The engine is positioned mid-rear and offers a top speed of 200 km/h or 124 mph. Power is delivered to only two wheels via the longitudinally-mounted six-speed manual sequential gearbox. In addition, there is a longer suspension travel (460 mm instead of 250 mm) that enhances the ability over dunes and when soaking up uneven ground.
