Volvo’s 2012 C70 Inscription package goes on sale for $3,900

Set to go on sale in the first quarter of 2012 is Volvo’s 2012 C70 Inscription package that retails for $3,900. A modified version of Volvo's C70 hardtop convertible, the C70 Inscription features additional horsepower and torque as well as distinctive interior and exterior details. The C70 Inscription will be exclusively offered in the North American market. It provides performance tuning to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

This tuning package is the creation of Polestar, a Swedish racing and performance products firm, in partnership with Volvo Cars. Several methods were utilized to boost the engine’s output. The performance gains were a result of more air and fuel being funneled into the combustion chambers. In addition, its spark timing is advanced.

The turbocharged inline 5-cylinder engine is capable of producing 250hp at 5,500 rpm and 273 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. The front wheels receive seamless power via a 5-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.

Volvo announces 23 hp upgrade for C30, C70 and S40 models for $1,295

Volvo Cars of North America (VCNA) announced that factory-authorized performance tuning software will be available for the first time on several Volvo models that will start to be offered at nationwide Volvo retailers next week. Tuning software was developed by Polestar (Volvo's Swedish-based performance partner) for C30, C70 and S40 carlines that come with a T5 engine, with model year 2008 or newer. This tuning package has an MSRP of $1,295 and will start selling on Nov. 14. It boosts the torque of the respective models by 23 hp and 29 lb.-ft. of torque.

The increase in power is made possible by increasing the airflow into the combustion chambers and advancing spark timing.

Since 1996, Polestar has been the official partner of Volvo Car Corp. Polestar had been enhancing cars for racing for many years but it is now focusing on the U.S. market. The power and torque are optimized without having an effect on fuel consumption.
