Many of us are excited for the upcoming 2018 Beijing Motor Show. But one of the models we are particularly thrilled to witness is a concept based on the Volvo S90, its flagship sedan. The show car first came to life as the three seater Excellence version. But the model had gone through a number of changes on the inside to make the ride experience even more enjoyable for rear seated passengers.
Included in the model highlights would be the headliner on which various visual elements are displayed based on the passenger’s preferred theme. This varies from the Northern Lights, Archipelago, Swan Lake, to the Scandinavian Forest. Aside from the themes mentioned, the S90 Ambience Concept also features what they call a Nocturnal mode, which can be turned on when the passenger wants to rest. In contrary to that, there is also a “Freedom” mode that will give you a boost and lifts your energy. But that’s only if you want to be woken up.
Inside the cabin, the Volvo S90 Ambience has been equipped with the Bowers and Wilkins sound system. Therefore, the dynamic ceiling makes use of the aforementioned sound system. Each theme can be selected with the use of dedicated smartphone app, which can personalise the aural experience. The high end audio system has also an ace up its sleeve as it comes with small tweeters embedded into the headrests.Read the entire article Volvo S90 Ambience Concept is the answer for those who want next-level comfort and luxury
Despite the fact that Volvo has just recently launched the 90 Series models, specifically the S90, the V90, and the XC90, the brand is not stopping there as it has revealed that the models will be getting an upgrade.
The first is in terms of connectivity and while the models are already integrated with Apple CarPlay, they are now also compatible with Android Auto. The range will also include an update of the Over-The-Air navigation which allows the vehicle to have access to the latest maps.
Volvo will also be updating the powertrain with new Drive-E units that the brand says will bring in a good mix between drivability and fuel economy. The S90 for example will now have the 4-cylinder D3 diesel engine, allowing it to enjoy fuel economy of 4.3 1/100 km (54.7 mpg) and CO2 emissions of 114 g/km. This is true whether the engine is paired the automatic 6-speed transmission or the new manual 6-speed version. Additionally, the engine will be offered with an all-wheel drive.Read the entire article Volvo upgrades safety, powertrain, connectivity features of S90, V90, and XC90
Volvo Cars has unveiled the athletic Volvo S90 R-Design saloon (sedan) and R-Design V90 estate, both featuring an advanced sport chassis for a more dynamic road-hugging road performance. These R-Design models of the S90 and the V90 feature a new front end design with a distinct grille and spoiler-integrated fog lights. Both its front and rear ends are marked by piano black trim. The sides are accentuated by new five-spoke matt black diamond-cut wheels. Meanwhile, the interior is laden with a selection of styling cues like distinct deco trim, pedals and mats as well as special steering wheel and the sporty contour seats.
Moreover, the interior comes with a high-level illumination package. Interested customers could now place an order for S90 and V90 R-Design models. Bjorn Annwall, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Cars, remarked that R-Design provides the estate and saloon models of the 90 Series with a sportier edge and more responsive drive, as well as impressive performance styling.

2016 Chicago Auto Show is a busy event for Volvo as the carmaker celebrates two major achievements for the company in the said event – the launching of the new Volvo S90 luxury sedan and receiving the awards for the XC90 SUV. Since its press reveal last December, the new S90 has received commendations for its elegant exterior as well as its well-appointed interiors.
In a distinct homage to the iconic Volvo P1800, the S90’s front features a concave grille with Volvo’s new Iron Mark. Another powerful design statement is the T-shaped Thor’s Hammer lights that make the S90 instantly recognizable on the road. The interior of the new sedan is spectacular as well, with visible similarities to the highly successful XC90 SUV.
However, the addition of stylish detail enhancements on the new dashboard and instrument panel which include the Sensus user interface and the vertically-standing new air blades set the sedan apart from its SUV cousin.Read the entire article Volvo S90 luxury sedan debuts at 2016 Chicago Auto Show
Not to be outdone, Volvo Cars has made an appearance at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) to introduce a new premium sedan to the North American market. This follows after a positive performance in the sales in the US market. It can be noted that Volvo’s sales in the United States grew an impressive 24.3 percent for the entire 2015. Most notable is the sales performance in November, when a 90% growth was recorded.
This was preceded by 87% in October and 89.9% in December. Most of this growth was brought about by sales of the XC60 crossover and the XC90 SUV. The XC90 SUV is spearheading Volvo’s efforts in 2015 to rejuvenate its product line in the United States, and has performed quite satisfactorily. Volvo forecasted only 50,000 pre-orders but the actual figure was more than 50% higher as 88,000 pre-orders were recorded in 2015.
Now, with the launch of the 2S90 premium sedan, Volvo expects that same success this year with the continuation of the product range renewal that started last year. Feedback has been positive for the S90 since its global launch last month. Members of the world press have been particularly impressed with the S90’s design, which takes cues from the Volvo P1800.Read the entire article Volvo seeks to sustain global growth momentum with launch of S90 premium sedan
