Memminger’s latest take on the classic VW Beetle is a modern masterpiece

We’re seeing the last days of the Volkswagen Beetle. Sales of its third-generation model have not exactly been positive. But even as the Beetle’s end is impending, it won’t go out without a bang. Memminger, a small German manufacturer, has decided to give the world its version of the iconic car, and the product is absolutely beautiful.

In case you’re not familiar with Memminger, let us give you a few details. It was established in the late 1970s as a steel construction company. The very first time it restored a Beetle was just before the millennium but it eventually turned into their core business. Since then, Memminger has been building, as well as restoring Beetles with the use of the original recipe.

Today, the latest model the manufacturer has built is the Roadster 2.7, a true modern-day Beetle.

VW offers performance upgrades for 2017 Golf R hot hatch

When Volkswagen released the 2017 VW Golf R, quite a number of people got excited about its increased power and more aggressive looks. However, some people weren’t that impressed about the Golf R. It seems VW has heard these qualms and is now moving to make the Golf R more impressive than before.

To make the Golf R hotter than before, the German carmaker has decided to offer a number of performance upgrades. Installing these upgrades would allow the Golf R to become an essentially better performer. These include the installation of a new exhaust and new brakes as well as semi-slick tires for track use.

In the case of the new exhaust, VW chose to tap Akrapovic, a Slovenian maker of premium exhaust systems for high performance cars and bikes. Since the performance exhaust system for the VW Golf R is made from titanium, it is lighter than the standard tailpipes. When installed, these tailpipes from Akrapovic help give the VW Golf R a set of “completely new acoustics.”

VW Atlas looks better with a set of 21-inch Vossen wheels

Some people like their food with extra spice, while some don’t. It’s similar to how some people are happy with a factory model car, but some just can’t get enough of what’s already there. Naples Speed recently fitted a set of VFS2 wheels on Volkswagen’s largest SUV ever built, the Atlas. And even with a set of 21-inch Vossen wheels, they look totally fine, and far from oversized.

If you look at it from afar, you would think that they are just regular wheels that the company itself has installed. The wheels have a classic multi-spoke design that just fits the design of the Atlas. Having said that, there will always be people who will disagree. For instance, the unnamed VW designer who said that it looked like a 2012 Ford seen at the LA Auto Show.

In America, Volkswagen is known to produce compact cars that are practical and economical. Their cars were either fun to drive or nice to look at. But the company felt that their strategy was not working, so they came out with the Atlas, their large, dull, and not so pretty SUV.

We know that the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S is an impressive car. Even the non-S version is already a splendid unit. Now, tuning specialist B&B Automobiltechnik is upping the impressiveness level of the Golf GTI Clubsport by offering a four-stage upgrade program for both the non-S and S versions.

For the most of 2016, the Volkswagen GTI Clubsport S has been nothing short of impressive. After all, it has made a name for itself as one of the fastest conquerors of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. In April, the Golf GTI Clubsport S completed the Green Hell with a lap time of 7 minutes and 47.21 seconds, breaking the record for the fastest production front-wheel-drive car at Nurburgring Nordschleife. Six months later in October, the same Golf GTI Clubsport S went for another round at the “Green Hell” and in the process broke its own record by posting an incredible time of 7 minutes and 47.19 seconds.

That Green Hell feat by the Golf GTI Clubsport S was achieved without any modifications to its 2.0-liter turbo four engine. This engine on the Golf GTI Clubsport S is able to provide 310 hp of output and 380 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the less powerful engine installed on the Golf GTI Clubsport could deliver 265 hp of output and 350 Nm of torque.

When Volkswagen introduced its all-new Passat B8, everyone was impressed by the vehicle’s 2.0-liter biturbo diesel engine that produced 240 hp and 500 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm. The engine is available only with a new seven-speed DSG gearbox and with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

Still, if these numbers don’t impress you that much, you better know that B&B can boost the performances of the biturbo diesel engine to an impressive 300 hp and 630 Nm of torque for 3,950 euros.

The standard model is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.3 seconds, the upgraded engine pushes the Passat B8 from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds.

German carmaker Volkswagen is now making the latest evolution of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI -- the new Golf GTI TCR. First unveiled as a concept at the annual GTI meeting in Worthersee, Austria, the new Golf GTI TCR is touted to be the most hardcore, most powerful and the fastest Golf GTI ever. Interested customers in Germany can now order the new Golf GTI TCR at a starting price of EUR38,950 (around $44,356) including VAT.

Volkswagen is introducing its smallest sports utility vehicle so far, this further expanding its SUV lineup. With the new and tiny Volkswagen T-Cross, the German carmaker is taking advantage of the continued growing demand for SUVs, whether large or small.

With a styling that makes it appear like a smaller brother of the Volkswagen T-Roc, the new VW T-Cross is underpinned by the A0 version of the VW Group’s MQB platform. This is the same platform that underpins other models in the VW Group such as the VW Polo and Audi A1 as well as the SEAT Ibiza and SEAT Arona crossover.

The compact nature of the new VW T-Cross is wrapped in its small dimensions. It boasts of a length of just 161.8 inches (4.11 meters), making nearly as long as the Nissan Juke small crossover. Inside, the new VW T-Cross can accommodate between 13.6 cubic feet (385 liters) to 16.07 cubic feet (455 liters) of cargo, depending on the position of the rear seats. These rear seats can slide 5.5 inches (14 cm), thereby increasing or reducing the available cargo space. When the rear seats are folded down, the cargo space offered by the VW T-Cross increases to 45.24 cubic feet (1,281 liters). An optional folding front passenger seat can be availed by customers who need more cargo room.

In June this year, rival carmakers Ford and Volkswagen inked a memorandum of agreement for a possible strategic alliance. Months after signing the MoU, automotive industry analysts are now floating the ideas of possible merger or an equity swap between the American and German companies. Nonetheless, Ford is quick enough to quash such ideas even before they get out of hand.

Under the signed MoU, Ford and VW are exploring a number of potential projects in several areas like the development of a range of commercial vehicles together. Likewise, a possible partnership would also work to better serve the evolving needs of customers. The parties have already made it clear back then that the potential alliance wouldn’t involve any equity arrangement.

However, The Detroit Bureau published an analysis that the potential alliance between Ford and VW might go beyond the commercial vehicle market, since doing so could be beneficial for both carmakers. For instance, Ford can benefit from VW’s robust presence not just in Europe, but also in Latin America and China. On the other hand, VW can take advantage of Ford’s strong fortified status in the United States, particular in the pickup and SUV segments.

A customer looking for a new Chevrolet Camaro is definitely up for the thrill. At the peak, this can be provided the Camaro ZL1, especially when installed with the 1LE package. But the Camaro ZL1 1LE is no match for the Camaro created by Specialty Vehicle Engineering, Inc. After all, this version of the Camaro – the 2019 YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro -- can deliver up to 1,000 hp of mind-boggling output.

This isn't to say that the Chevrolet Camaro isn't a fast car. After all, even in its “weakest” version, the Camaro is a sports car that still offers considerable 275 hp of max output and 295 lb.-ft. of peak torque from its 2.0-liter Turbo SIDI engine. This is the same engine found in the 1LT and 2LT versions of the Camaro, but with the addition of a number of features.

For those who wanted more, the carmaker is offering the Chevrolet Camaro 1SS and 2SS. They are powered by a 6.2-liter V8 DI engine that can provide up to 455 hp of output and up to 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The Camaro range is topped by the ZL1, which is served by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 DI mill that is tuned to deliver 650 hp of max output and 650 lb.-ft. of peak torque.

German carmaker Volkswagen has just revealed the next generation of the VW Passat family sedan, but there is a twist. The all-new Passat that was just unveiled was created for the massive automotive market in China. Nonetheless, this Passat is an important model as might be able to provide a glimpse of how the next-gen sedan for the United States might look like when it finally arrives.

Nonetheless, it should be noted that while having the same name, the VW Passat bound for China is much different from the existing large sedan models in the United States and in Europe. The recently unveiled China-bound Passat sedan is undeniably influenced by the VW brand’s understated and simple design mantra. In fact, the front end of this China-bound Passat sedan seems to be adopted from the Arteon, especially the shape of its new grille.

The Arteon-like front grille of the China-bound VW Passat is flanked by elegant headlights that extend to the sides. When viewed from the sides, this Passat reveals a sleek profile with some liftback influences. While this Passat does have a sloped roofline, it is a traditional sedan featuring a small trunk opening.

Here comes a 6x6 pickup truck that can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. It isn't only mean and fully capable, but is also menacingly fast. We are referring to the all-new Hennessey Goliath 6X6, the latest creation of North American automotive tuner Hennessey Performance (HPE).

The new Hennessey Goliath 6X6 is essentially HPE’s follow-up to the VelociRaptor 6X6, which was unleashed in 2017. While the VelociRaptor 6X6 sounds faster than the Goliath 6X6, the latter is actually quicker on the sprint.

HPE created the Hennessey Goliath 6X6 from a Chevrolet Silverado, in particular from a Trail Boss Z71 model. This version of the Silverado was already a capable machine off the road. But HPE transformed it into a creation that most off-roaders would crave for.

Not a few motorists were enthralled when Volkswagen unveiled the ID Buzz Concept at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. VW is putting the ID Buzz into production and make it available as early as 2022. Now, the German group, through Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, is now testing the waters for the possibility of offering a zero-emission transporter based on the ID Buzz.

The new ID Buzz Cargo is simply a progressive sibling for the ID Buzz. But instead of carrying people, the all-electric ID Buzz Cargo carries out the job as a commercial vehicle. VW unveiled and is currently displaying the ID Buzz Cargo concept at the 2018 IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover, Germany (September 20 to 27, 2018). Created as a supplementary model to the VW Transporter T6, the ID Buzz Cargo being presented in Hannover is already close to production, which may happen as early as 2021.

Just like the ID Buzz, the ID Buzz Cargo will be available in different battery sizes, according to the purpose and budget of the customer. Underpinned by the Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB), the ID Buzz Cargo can be installed with batteries that allow all-electric ranges of between 330 km and over 500 km (as per WLTP). Battery capacities are pegged at between 48 kWh and 111 kWh.
