Here are the VW Golf GTI and Golf R, as tuned by Oettinger, presented at Worthersee

At this year’s Worthersee gathering, Volkswagen will be revealing a total of four vehicles: two of which are apprentice-designed GTI and GTE concepts, while the other two are unique VW cars of the company itself. These are the sweet Golf GTI and the hot Golf R.

Oettinger, a German based tuning company, sharpens the Golf MKVII GTI’s current look with a unique aerodynamic body kit. The kit comes with a new front spoiler, front splitter, side skirts, a quad tailpipe just by the diffuser, and a roof-mounted spoiler with open racing flaps.

Under the hood is a standard 2.0 liter engine, or the 2.0 liter diesel engine for the GTD, that works with the added quad exhaust system. For an engine upgrade, Oettinger can do the work for you and maximize the engine power to 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts) for an extra cost. This is a huge jump from the standard which only produces 210 horsepower (156 kilowatts).

VW Golf GTI First Decade with hybrid system revealed at the 2017 Worthersee Meeting

Volkswagen intends to leave the crowd in awe at the Worthersee Meeting (Wortherseetreffen) – the largest VW and Audi car show in Europe – with its new GTI Worthersee concept.

It has been 10 years since VW started its famed show car projects at Worthersee. To celebrate those 10 years, the 10th and latest GTI Worthersee concept was promptly named VW Golf GTI First Decade. This is the first GTI to feature a hybrid drive system – a combination of a conventional engine and an electric motor.

A petrol mill delivers 410 PS (300 kW) of power output to the front wheels while a 48-volt electric motor provides 12 kW of propulsive power to the rear wheels. Interestingly, these two drive systems could operate separately, which means the new VW Golf GTI First Decade could be driven conventionally, or in pure electric mode. Of course, the engine and electric could operate together for an all-wheel drive experience.

Refreshed Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR ready to hit the tracks this 2017

Building upon its highly successful racing stint in 2016, Volkswagen gives the Golf GTI TCR a new update. For this year, get ready to see Volkswagen’s Golf GTI touring car with better aerodynamics and upgraded performance.

According to Volkswagen Motorsport director Sven Smeets, the Golf GTI TCR’s first full season was “a great success”. During its first year, Liqui Moly Team Engstler and Leopard Racing won in the Asian TCR and international championships.

The hatchback now comes with bigger wheel arches, wider fenders and distinct air intakes while the redesigned diffusers provide the race car with optimum air flow. Eduard Weidi, TRC project leader said that the performance of the car has been further optimized with the new aerodynamics – this is done by increasing its overall downforce and by reducing aerodynamic drag.

B&B Automobiltechnik offers 4-stage upgrade program for VW Golf GTI Clubsport S

We know that the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S is an impressive car. Even the non-S version is already a splendid unit. Now, tuning specialist B&B Automobiltechnik is upping the impressiveness level of the Golf GTI Clubsport by offering a four-stage upgrade program for both the non-S and S versions.

For the most of 2016, the Volkswagen GTI Clubsport S has been nothing short of impressive. After all, it has made a name for itself as one of the fastest conquerors of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. In April, the Golf GTI Clubsport S completed the Green Hell with a lap time of 7 minutes and 47.21 seconds, breaking the record for the fastest production front-wheel-drive car at Nurburgring Nordschleife. Six months later in October, the same Golf GTI Clubsport S went for another round at the “Green Hell” and in the process broke its own record by posting an incredible time of 7 minutes and 47.19 seconds.

That Green Hell feat by the Golf GTI Clubsport S was achieved without any modifications to its 2.0-liter turbo four engine. This engine on the Golf GTI Clubsport S is able to provide 310 hp of output and 380 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the less powerful engine installed on the Golf GTI Clubsport could deliver 265 hp of output and 350 Nm of torque.

The next generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI could be a hybrid unit when it is launched to the market in 2020. As a hybrid, the Golf GTI will be powered by the carmaker’s turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine as complemented by an integrated starter motor and a 48V electric system, according to AutoCar, citing sources privy to Volkswagen research and development chief Frank Welsch.

This development comes as Volkswagen has just refreshed the looks of the seventh generation of the Golf GTI. Likewise, the carmaker is in the midst of developing the next generation (eighth gen) of the VW Golf, which is bound to be introduced for the 2020 model year in 2019. The German carmaker is well expected to release the GTI version of the Golf a year later. It will boast of a higher performance than a regular Golf, and an electrified version of the 2.0-liter petrol engine could well serve the purpose. However, the exhaust gas turbocharger in the 2.0-liter gasoline engine will be replaced by an electrically operated compressor.

The current generation of the VW Golf GTI features a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine – with direct injection -- that delivers 210 hp of peak output at 4,500 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. of max torque available at 1,500 rpm. On Sport trim or higher, the max engine output is higher at 220 hp. But for the eighth generation of the VW Golf GTI, the carmaker is working to reach intended power levels similar to those of the VW Golf GTI Clubsport.

Volkswagen last April brought its GTI Clubsport S to Nordschleife and finished with a 7:47.21 lap time -- beating Honda Civic Type R’s front wheel drive track record by 1.4 seconds. Earlier this year, the brand had broken the record for a production front-wheel-drive car. But VW pushes its own boundaries once more by bringing back the same GTI Clubsport S for another round at the “Green Hell”.

The record-breaking stunt happened last 26th of October and took an impressive 7:47.19 seconds. Considering its 8º C and 46ºF climate, VW had no problem keeping the vehicle’s tyres and engine in tip-top shape. But then the Clubsport S as we all know is not your average GTI.

Equipped with a 310 hp 2.0 litre turbo four engine, the VW Golf’s back seats were replaced by a lightweight battery with sub-frame made of aluminium. All these including the pair of race seats in lightweight materials help reduce its curb weight by as much as 66lbs.

Here comes the most powerful version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI so far – the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S. Created to celebrate 40 years of the Golf GTI, the front-wheel drive Golf GTI Clubsport S was unveiled at the 2016 GTI event at Lake Wörthersee.

VW will only build 400 examples of the Golf GTI Clubsport S around the world, of which 100 will be delivered in Germany.

The origin of the Golf GTI Clubsport S can be traced to the final version of the current Golf GTI Performance Pack. According to Karsten Schebsdat, Head of Chassis Tuning, it became obvious to the team that such GTI had huge potential, prompting them to squeeze out the most performance possible out of the car. A small team was created to take charge, focusing not only on weight reduction and improvements in performance but also on optimal aerodynamics and a superior chassis.

Volkswagen has issued an order to its dealers in the United States and Canada to stop selling 813 units of its new Golf and GTI hatchbacks due to a mistake in assembly that could lead to steering problems. According to a stop-sale order sent to dealers and obtained by Automotive News, the front stabilizer links in the affected vehicles were installed with too little torque and as a result could come loose over time and make “considerable noise.”

If the links detach entirely, drivers would find it harder to turn the steering wheel, leading to a possible crash. According to the stop-sale notice, the issue covers a total of 2,001 vehicles in the United States and 446 vehicles in Canada.

It includes 705 unsold units in the US and 108 undelivered vehicles in Canada. VW spokesman Mark Gillies told Automotive News in an e-mail that some vehicles were unaffected by the issue and can still be sold. He added that the carmaker VW has notified the US National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration of the issue, which means the cars may recall units already sold.

If last year we saw the Golf GTI Cabrio Austria, which followed the GTI Black Dynamic or the Golf GTI Street, for this year’s Worthersee festival Volkswagen apprentices unveiled the Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition. The new vehicle is a two-door model painted in Absolute Red with décor strips in Negro Magico Black.

Under the hood, there is an upgraded 2.0 TSI engine taked from the Golf R2 that generates 380 hp (270 kW). This unique vehicle comes with a carbon air box and a hand-welded stainless steel exhaust system featuring a vacuum valve control that allows the volume of the engine sound to be regulated.

Regarding the design, the car features hand-crafted high-gloss black attachments such as one-offs spoilers, claw-type inserts on the front bumper, door sills, as well as a new rear spoiler with additional flaps and roof edge spoiler.

As you may know already, back in February Volkswagen introduced the XL1, known as the most fuel-efficient production car in the world. For those who don’t know, the XL1 uses a 0.8-liter two-cylinder TDI engine with 48 PS and an E-motor with 27 PS, enough to use only 0.9 liters of fuel for 100 km. Well, now the German manufacturer wants to take things even further and will create the XR1, or a sporty version of the XL1.

According to Car magazine, the Volkswagen XR1 will be a high-tech sports car and could use the 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine found on the Golf GTI. Still, engineers are mulling over a turbo and supercharged triple or a hybrid. Sources suggest that Volkswagen could use the Golf GTI engine mid-mounted across the body.

Performances will be impressive: 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 911 Carrera PDK’s 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h or 190 mph. Volkswagen will create a new car and will not just add a new engine on the XL1.

There are two reasons why the launch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabrio Austria with 333 PS (245 kW) should be celebrated. First of all, this marks the first time for Volkswagen apprentices to have created a cabriolet for the GTI Festival at the Wörthersee Lake in Austria. Secondly, this is the product of the first ever collaboration between the junior talents of Wolfsburg and Osnabrück.

The 13 apprentices of four professions made a two-seater in red-white-red, which are the host country’s national colors. It took a year for automotive mechatronics technicians, vehicle interior fitters, technical model makers and paint technicians to work together to create the vehicle, starting from the early sketches to a global debut in Kärnten, Austria.

The standard Golf GTI Cabriolet was redesigned by four women and nine men aged 17 to 23 years old to their optical and technical specifications. The 2.0 liter engine produced 333 PS / 245 kW. The white-red colour of the concept was evident on both the interior and exterior. The Cabriolet received an Oryx White mother-of-pearl effect while its sides got Flash Red stripes that bordered the bonnet left and right.

Prices for Volkswagen’s Golf Mk7 GTI have recently been released. The order books are now open for the latest GTI, which is available with two power outputs – the first time ever for the GTI model. The standard Golf GTI is priced at £25,845, making it only £195 more expensive than the outgoing Golf Mk6 GTI.

Powering the GTI is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with an output of 217bhp and 258lb ft of torque, enabling the vehicle to reach a top speed of 152mph and a sprint time of 6.5 sec to go from zero to 62mph. Making the vehicle more impressive are its fuel economy rating of 47.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km, when it comes with the standard six-speed manual gearbox.

The GTI Performance model is priced £980 higher than the regular car. Its output was increased to 227bhp and it has bigger brakes and a limited-slip differential. Meanwhile, the GTI Performance’s 0-62mph acceleration time is lower by a tenth compared to the GTI's time. Its top speed has also improved to 155mph.

Volkswagen has fallen behind its global rivals in North America and so to increase its market share, it is now planning to start production in Mexico for its Golf hatchback. Starting in the first quarter of 2014, VW will produce the Golf at its plant in Puebla. VW spokesman Christoph Adomat said that Golfs assembled at this plant will be offered in North and South America.

Its production will supplement output of the model at VW's home base in Wolfsburg and in Zwickau in eastern Germany.

In a statement, Volkswagen's North America chief Jonathan Browning said that producing the Golf in the Puebla factory aids Volkswagen to hit its target of producing over 75% of the cars Volkswagen of America offers for sale in the North American region. This plan to build the Golf in Mexico is part of a strategy that seeks to spend $5 billion over the next three years in North America.

Alongside the Mk7 Volkswagen Golf, the automaker will be offering a limited run, lightweight performance version of the GTi. Spy images of the GTi test mule were taken while it was subjected to testing in Germany. The 'carbon Golf GTi' will extensively use carbonfibre and aluminium. The carbon GTi was developed partly to pay tribute to the original, pared-down GTi.

Lightweight aluminium will be used on the front bulkhead, windscreen surround and floor panels while hi-tech carbonfiber will be used for the roof and bonnet. The use of these advanced materials will result to a 200kg drop in the kerb weight of the carbon GTi (to 1125kg) when compared to the outgoing model.

According to Autocar, the lightweight Golf will demonstrate how VW will make use of advanced materials. It is actually reminiscent of the original GTi’s agility and simplicity that had a weight of only 810kg.

Aside from the new 2014 Kia Soul that was recently spied, the automaker is also developing a Soul convertible variant and a sporty hatchback model that will compete with the Volkswagen Golf GTI. When Soon-Nam Lee, Kia’s overseas marketing director, was recently interviewed, he said that the company is preparing turbocharged engines and is in the process of tuning suspension as well as readying a rival to the Golf GTI.

Kia’s latest models were tremendously improved over their predecessors. It is currently developing a hot hatch based on the next-generation Kia Cee’d, which will make its debut next fall. It’s believed that it will be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant used in the Optima sporty hatch.

In the sedan, the turbocharged Theta II engine delivers 274-hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. It would have been exciting if this engine could be fitted in a lighter hatchback but the automaker will probably detune it. Soon-Nam also mentioned convertibles and their popularity in Europe. He confirmed that there is a plan to present a Soul-based convertible intended for 2014.

The next-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI will be shown in concept form at the Paris Motor Show, and the seventh-generation Golf will be much bigger and more spacious than the present car, according to Autocar. The new Golf will start production this month in Germany. The new Volkswagen GTI will start selling next spring in Europe. On its Paris debut, it will most likely be displayed as a concept instead of as a full production car.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the GTI’s arrival since it is one of the benchmarks for enjoyable cars in its segment. The hot hatch will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, which has an output of between 222 and 260 hp. Its power will be distributed to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The weight of all seventh-generation Golf models is lower by at least 220 pounds when compared to the current car. This would mean that the new GTI would offer an excellent performance. More high-strength steel is used in the body, making it lighter than the sixth-gen Golf by 51 pounds. About 57 pounds is taken off with the use of aluminum suspension components. The redesigned electronics and seats shave off 26 pounds more.

Volkswagen will be introducing the first convertible version of GTI on June 22, 2012. For 36 years, the Golf GTI designation has been the standard representation of all sporty compact automobile models. To date, there are more than 1.8 million units of Golf GTI sold. The automaker's GTI was initially introduced as a wild and young vehicle.

It has long been modified to be a highly treasured classic. An aspect that has been consistent from its origin to the current GTI variant is a dynamically designed running gear and a sporty yet economical engine.

Having a model with an open top is going to be a first in the history of GTI. The new Golf GTI Cabriolet will be powered by the 2.0-liter TSI engine, which generates an output of 155 kW / 210 PS (from 5,300 rpm to 6,200 rpm). This is the same power that the classic GTI with a steel and/or panoramic sunroof has.
