It's been a while since we saw some quality tuning but today it seems it's our lucky day! Oettinger, the great German tuner specialized in Vw vehicles, unveiled the tuning kit for the recently launched Scirocco. The new kit consists of Aero Flaps for the front splitter, new side and a rear air diffuser.
At the interior we can find carbon-fiber inserts, stainless steel kick plates, finest floor mats and aluminium pedals. If you are not impressed about this body kit then you may be interested of what's under the hood.
There we can find a 1.4-liter TSI engine delivering an impressive 200 hp from 160 hp and the 2.0-liter FSI engine, found also on the Golf V GTI and delivering 200 hp, boosted to an astonishing 240 hp. Of course this is not all! Oettinger is currently working at a new kit for the 2.0-liter FSI engine which will make it capable to deliver 350 hp and 470 Nm of torque!Read the entire article 2008 Vw Scirocco by Oettinger
Aren’t aftermarket tuners just the coolest guys? Not just because they can modify your car, but because they can make your already nice car, way cooler and personalised to your style. This time, we are referring to Oettinger, but before we move on to that, let us first discuss why this particular car has been introduced in Germany.
Police enforcers need to be fast enough to be able to chase down fast vehicles along various stretches. However, police officers cannot be provided with their own Porsche 911s or Mercedes AMG GTs, because that will cost too much.
This is where Oettinger enters the picture. During the Essen Motor Show a couple of weeks ago, the aftermarket tuner revealed a unique Volkswagen Golf R dressed in police livery with special equipment. And when we say special equipment, we mean flashing lights attached on the roof as well as in the air dam. The police kit is completed with a foil wrap in blue, white and neon yellow, and a huge word that spells “Polizei.”Read the entire article Oettinger VW Golf 400R police car concept is presented under Germany safety campaign
At this year’s Worthersee gathering, Volkswagen will be revealing a total of four vehicles: two of which are apprentice-designed GTI and GTE concepts, while the other two are unique VW cars of the company itself. These are the sweet Golf GTI and the hot Golf R.
Oettinger, a German based tuning company, sharpens the Golf MKVII GTI’s current look with a unique aerodynamic body kit. The kit comes with a new front spoiler, front splitter, side skirts, a quad tailpipe just by the diffuser, and a roof-mounted spoiler with open racing flaps.
Under the hood is a standard 2.0 liter engine, or the 2.0 liter diesel engine for the GTD, that works with the added quad exhaust system. For an engine upgrade, Oettinger can do the work for you and maximize the engine power to 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts) for an extra cost. This is a huge jump from the standard which only produces 210 horsepower (156 kilowatts).Read the entire article Here are the VW Golf GTI and Golf R, as tuned by Oettinger, presented at Worthersee
When most of us are asked what the most recognizable Volkswagen vehicle is in history, probably the first thing that we would think of is the iconic Beetle. With around 21.5 M units distributed worldwide, there's no denying that the classic Beetle is considered one of the most popular vehicles in history.
However, all good things must come to an end, as the hard top Beetle variant is now being considered to be put on the chopping block due to the poor sales. Not only is the hardtop Beetle is loomed to be retired, but the Scirocco may also soon disappear from the brand's lineup.
Due to the slow sales of the senior models, the time has probably come to end the Beetle and the Scirocco lineage. Volkswagen board member Arno Antlitz disclosed to Autocar that the Beetle and Scirocco are considered to be solid models of an emotional and charismatic class of automobiles, but it is not always about extending cars from one gen to the next. If rumours are to be true, then the Beetle Convertible will be at least happy, as the talks say that it will be given a slim reprieve due to the fact that is more sellable compared to its hardtop variant.Read the entire article VW Scirocco and Beetle rumored to get axed

Volkswagen has a new sports car -- the new Scirocco GTS – which is slated to make its world premiere at Auto Shanghai. Boasting a power of 162 kW / 220 PS, its engine is a favourite in the Scirocco lineup since its design is similar to that of the Golf GTI’s engine. It features a turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine that is known as one of the most agile four-cylinder engines throughout the world.
As a result, the Scirocco GTS is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in only 6.5 seconds, regardless of whether it has a manual gearbox or the 6-speed DSG. Its top speed is at a formidable 246 km/h (DSG: 244 km/h). The Scirocco’s engine is very efficient with an average fuel consumption of 6.1 l/100 km with a manual gearbox and of 6.4 l/100 km with a DSG gearbox.
To those who are unfamiliar with auto history, the Scirocco is a pure bred European sports coupe that holds a timeless appeal due largely to how it had been reinvented many times over. This car was introduced 41 years ago at the Geneva Motor Show.Read the entire article 2015 Volkswagen Scirocco GTS debuts at Shanghai Auto Show

It seems that the Volkswagen Scirocco still has some chances to make it to the United States and the latest man (and one of the most important) is Jonathan Browning, CEO of VW Group of America. Browning said in an interview at the New York Auto Show that he is trying to bring the Scirocco to the United States as the stylish coupe is a piece of the lineup that he would dearly love to see there (U.S.).
Still, if the Scirocco will make it to the U.S. this will happen in when the facelifted version will arrive. This will be the same move made by Bmw with the X1, which arrived in the United States after it received a facelift. For those who don’t know, the Scirocco was last sold in the U.S. back in 1988. In Europe, the new Vw Scirocco made its debut in 2008 and despite the financial crisis, the car was a success.
Besides the Vw Scirocco, Browning and top marketer Tim Mahoney also dropped hints about VW lineup plans and both pointed to the Alltrack Concept on display at the VW stand. If it arrives in the United States, this vehicle will take on cars such as the Subaru Outback.Read the entire article CEO of VW Group of America wants the Scirocco in the United States
Volkswagen has placed a new ESP system on its most potent Golf GTI and R models and its entire Scirocco range, enabling the driver to fully disable electronic aids. The carmaker likely made the changes after being criticized by the media and some customers who said that the models were not adjustable or sporting enough, didn’t give full control to the driver, and were too sensible compared with rivals. The new system will be installed on all 2012 model year Sciroccos and Golf GTIs and Rs built from May.
These vehicles will be seen in showrooms starting July. Bearing a two-stage system, the new ESP set-up controls traction control and braking, says Autocar. The traction control will be disabled after pressing the ESP off button once. Holding the button for over three seconds will fully disable both traction control and electronic braking systems.
The system will only cut back in if the driver presses the brake pedal in the middle of an ‘emergency’, whether control of the vehicle is lost by the driver or if they want the car to straighten up by itself.Read the entire article VW Scirocco and Golf R models receive new ESP system
Volkswagen AG aims to triple deliveries in the U.S. and one of the carmaker’s strategy is to bring back the Scirocco coupe. Jonathan Browning, VW's U.S. chief, said in an interview in Washington that the company is “looking for opportunities” to make the Scirocco available to the U.S. market once again.
And Browning said that he personally wants this to happen “as soon as possible.” In the 1970s and 1980s, the Scirocco had a cult following in the U.S. and it was featured several times in television shows and movies.
Volkswagen has set a target for sales to hit 1 million vehicles in the U.S. by 2018, including models by the Audi luxury unit. VW also seeks to close the gap with Toyota Motor Corp. and General Motors Co.Read the entire article VW Scirocco to return to the U.S. ‘as soon as possible’, VW’s U.S. chief says
A new nameplate might make its debut in the United States once Jonathan Browning (President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America) gets his way now that he runs Volkswagen's U.S. operations.
Browning said that he wants to see add the familiar performance car of the 1980s and 1990s to the lineup a.k.a. the Scirocco, but he also added that Volkswagen is not able to make the case to bring it in this (product) cycle.
In the future, the Scirocco might be added to Volkswagen’s lineup, that’s for sure. Still, Volkswagen will bring the Golf R performance car in the United States but also new cars such as the 2012 Vw Passat unveiled last week at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show but also a new 2012 Beetle.Read the entire article Volkswagen may bring the Scirocco in the United States
The Ford coupé is set on making a comeback with a vengeance. According to a report from Auto Express, Ford is developing a modern interpretation of the Capri and is hoping to compete with the VW Scirocco. As the Cougar had departed from the lineup in 2002, Ford has not had any model to rival the Scirocco.
Ford’s new model is based on the FocusMkIII, and it will serve two functions. First, it will replace the outgoing three-door hatch and secondly, it will serve as an exciting flagship for the entire range. Expect to see the Focus coupé concept make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
This coupé is a ‘world car’ just like the latest Focus and Fiesta – a result of the One Ford global design strategy. In a recent interview with Auto Express, design boss Martin Smith had dropped hints about a coupé.Read the entire article Report: Ford is developing Focus Coupe to go up against VW Scirocco
