2018 BMW M5 (F90) Touring with 600 hp rendered for your pleasure

While the reveal of the 2018 BMW M5 (F90) has been met with plenty of applause, there are a number of people who want a much wider trunk space from this model on top of the hot sedan's updated look, more powerful engine and new performance features like shifting from an all-wheel to a rear-wheel drive.

But since the Bavarian company has not come up with that yet, an artist from X-Tomi Design has rendered one. And what was created looks like a facelifted M5 Touring. It was back in 2007 when BMW last offered a Touring version of the M5, when it was released with the E61. Also, back then the company did not produce that many units of the M5 Touring, and the variant did not even reach US soil. Since then, BMW has skipped the touring trim in the last generation F10.

This is why we think that this rendering should encourage BMW to produce a Touring variant, which would make a lot of customers more satisfied. Under the hood of the 2018 M5 is a 4.4 liter V8 that produces as much as 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton metres) of torque. This powertrain lets it hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 3.4 seconds, before reaching its top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers per hour). This can even be maxed out to 189 mph (305 mph) sans the limiter.

Alpina reveals teaser for 2018 B5 Bi-Turbo Wagon [w/video]

Alpina had previously teased customers and fans alike with a teaser for its upcoming 2018 B5 Bi-Turbo sedan. That is not enough it seems as the company has released another teaser showing the B5, this time the Wagon version, going through mountain roads. With this, the anticipation for the new B5 has increased further prior to its official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Based on what can be gathered from the video, it appears that the new B5 will have the XDrive configuration, and if not offered as standard then a possible option. There is no word however if the brand will release the D5 at the same time as the B5. If not, then it is likely that it will be a few months before Alpina will reveal the diesel version.

With regards to power, many are saying that the B5 will hopefully have at least the same capability as that of the 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine. This engine can deliver output of 600 hp (441 kW) with maximum torque of 591 lb.-ft. (800 Nm). For the D5, it should have power similar to what the 3.0-liter diesel engine can offer which is 345 hp (257 kW) with peak torque of 516 lb.-ft. (700 Nm).

Patent Images of BMW 3 Series Wagon (G21) show up in design registration in Brazil

BMW is just fresh from unveiling the all-new seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan (G20) at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Bringing the promise of being much better than its predecessor, the all-new 3 Series Sedan is poised to meet the expectations. Nonetheless, BMW isn't finished yet, as the German carmaker will also offer wagon variant of the 3 Series.

As to how the new BMW 3 Series Wagon (G21) would look like, perhaps a design registration with Brazil's Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial could help. The images may not be as sharp as those released by BMW for the 3 Series Sedan, but they offer a good glimpse of the exterior of the upcoming 3 Series Wagon.

From the front end to the B-pillar, the BMW 3 Series Wagon looks identical to the 3 Series Sedan. The front end of the upcoming 3 Series Wagon is likewise marked by the large BMW kidney grille framed by a single surround. In addition, the bonnet of the 3 Series Wagon features four contour lines all flowing towards the BMW kidney grille.

2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is a true wagon with more cargo capacity and best-in-class rear legroom

European motorists can now wave goodbye to Toyota Auris Touring Sports and say hello to the new 2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports. The Corolla Touring Sports beats its wagon predecessor in terms of wheelbase, rear legroom, and cargo capacity.

Bound to be unveiled to the global public at the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show next month, the all-new Toyota Corolla Touring Sports continues the carmaker’s practice of offering wagon versions of their other models.

Nonetheless, there are quite a number of differences between the Corolla Touring Sports and the Auring Touring Sports. The most important of these is the fact while the Auring Touring Sports is essentially a hatchback transformed into a wagon, the Corolla Touring Sports was designed and developed to be a proper wagon, thanks to being underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-C platform.

Mercedes-Benz has published images of the new A-Class hatchback and sedan models, together with spy shots of the B-Class, CLA, GLA and the GLB. But one thing we have not seen yet is the CLA Shooting Brake. While we’ve heard rumours that the swoopy wagon won’t be renewed, we think that the opposite is true.

In January 2017, Autocar heard from Mercedes’ sales and marketing boss, Britta Seeger, that the wagon will be getting a second generation version. There has been no retraction so we take that as a signal that we will soon see a new generation of the CLA SB. Nevertheless, we regret to say that the larger model, the CLS Shooting Brake, has been terminated due to low demand.

It is true that a lot of people have a thing for wagons, but the number of people who are shifting to crossovers and SUVs are significantly more, and really, automakers will just have to head towards the direction where their business will flourish. This is also why we should be glad that Mercedes-Benz is still giving the CLA Shooting Brake a second generation model.

Swedish carmaker Volvo Cars has taken the wraps off its latest creation – a new midsize premium wagon (estate) dubbed as the new 2019 Volvo V60. Volvo intended the V60 to be a family all-rounder, underscoring its position as a carmaker with the tradition of producing good-looking yet practical cars.

To strongly deliver the message that the new V60 is a family all-rounder, Volvo went for an unconventional yet persuasive manner of introduction. Instead of unveiling the new V60 at a motor show or at an auto-related event, the carmaker revealed the new premium wagon at the driveway of an up-market villa in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden. It was driven into the driveway – where it really belongs -- by Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo’s senior vice president for the Europe, Middle East, Asia region. This way, Volvo was able to send a clear message that the new V60 is designed to cater to the needs and wants of modern family.

As introduced, the new V60 is underpinned by Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform that also underpins the new XC60 and four top-of-the-line 90 Series cars. So far, the V60 is the smallest and lightest vehicle to be underpinned by this platform.

Porsche has promised that they will begin introducing “pure” models like the 911 R and the 911 GT3 Touring. And finally, they have announced that there will be another derivate. What makes this even better is that it will be more affordable because it will be based on the Carrera. To cut off some of its weight, the automaker will take out the rear seats as well as the infotainment system, but if you want those features back, they’ll put those parts back without the additional cost. Sweet deal, huh?

But before you get too excited, Porsche will not reinstall the sound absorbing material that was also taken out to cut down on weight. By removing all those unnecessary parts, the company has helped reduce 20 kilograms (44 pounds) off of the 911 (991) Carrera T. After the modifications, it now weighs down to 1,425 kilos (3,142 pounds), and its current equipment is still comparable to that of the standard model.

Interestingly, the Carrera T (Touring) has an advantage over the regular Carrera. It can be fitted with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) that lowers the car by 20 millimeters. In addition, the new Touring also gets a “weight-optimized” Sport Chrono Package. It now has a shortened shift lever for the manual gearbox and the shortened transmission ratios. And what’s even better is the fact that you can add an optional rear-axle steering, which can’t be done on the standard model.

Bimmerpost has posted several cool pictures of the new BMW G30 540i and the new G31 generation BMW 5-Series Touring, with both wearing the brilliant Rhodonite Silver Individual colour.

The photos are courtesy of a guy from Sweden who claims to have ordered a 540i x G30 and is expecting its arrival next summer. Notably, the pictures were taken without sunlight so there may be some variation. Nevertheless, this customer is excited to share these photos with fellow BMW enthusiasts to see what they have to say about this uncommon colour.

The usual silver that we’re accustomed to seeing on cars doesn’t display any hints of chrome or lilac unlike the Rhodonite Silver Metallic on the 5-series models. Interestingly, BMW Individual Program has other interesting exterior color options including Azurite Black that drops a tinge of blue into it and Champagne Quartz with traces of metallic purple, gold and beige all rolled into one. Of course, there’s the Almandine Brown Metallic that looks so dark you’d think it’s another shade of black. But since both the xDrive Touring G31 540d and the G30 530e plugin hybrid are donning BMW M Sport packages, the Individual colour must have been particularly chosen as an upgrade which we estimate will cost you about £1,740.

Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, recently launched the 2018 Genesis G70 to go against German models like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. But while its rivals offer their models in wagon variants, Hyundai doesn’t have a G70 wagon variant. This is because some customers just prefer to have a little more space for their junk. To keep up with the competition, Genesis might need to have a long roof variant of its own. But how would it look? X-Tomi Design helps us imagine it.

The current G70’s design features a flowing roof that goes all the way to its sporty rear, including an integrated upward kink towards the edge of the trunk. X-Tomi Design’s rendering retains its original shape, but stretches it a little creating a longer line and some extra space in the rear. The rear end now gets a spoiler to keep its performance-oriented appearance.

At this moment, Genesis offers three options of the G70 at launch in South Korea, and they have not given any details regarding the US-spec model. The Korean version’s base trim has a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder that carries out 248 horsepower (185 kilowatts), and with the Performance Package, 251 horsepower (187 kilowatts) and 260 pound-feet (353 Newton-metres) of torque. Another option is the 2.2 liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts). And for the range topping trim, you’ll get a 3.3 liter turbocharged V6 that produces as much as 365 horsepower (272 kilowatts) and 376 pound-feet (510 Nm) of torque. Customers can either opt for a rear wheel drive or an all-wheel drive.

It has been five years since the second generation of the Toyota Auris was launched in Europe, and the compact vehicle managed to steadily receive the attention of C-segment customers in this part of the world. Now, Toyota intends to ignite anew the interest for the Auris in the 2018 model year by launching a limited edition model based on its Touring Sports wagon version.

The new Auris Touring Sports Freestyle Edition is simply a reinterpreted version of the Auris Touring Sports wagon. The Auris Touring Sports Freestyle edition features a number of smart urban styling cues that help set it apart from a typical Auris Touring Sports wagon. For instance, the new Auris Touring Sports Freestyle edition is provided with a black front grille, rear privacy glass as well as door mirror covers in bright silver. Its wheel arch covers and side skirts are also finished in black while its front and rear underbody protections are wrapped in an aluminum finish. Further distinguishing styling cues include a set of five double-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels with a black and machined silver finish.

Interestingly, the new Auris Touring Sports Freestyle edition won’t be offered in a single specific powertrain package. Instead, the new Auris Touring Sports Freestyle edition will be made available in various powertrain options, including the conventional petrol and diesel engines as well as a hybrid drive. In terms of utility, the new Auris Touring Sports Freestyle edition offers up to 1,685 liters of cargo capacity when the rear seats are folded down.

A few weeks after teasing the new 2018 BMW Alpina D5 S high-performance diesel-powered car, Alpina is now letting more information out of the bag. This new creation based on the BMW 5-Series that’s tagged as the fastest serial diesel car in the world comes in two body types – saloon (sedan) and touring (estate or wagon).

Alpina is introducing the new BMW Alpina D5 S to the global audience at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. Expected to be the highlight of the Buchloer booth, the Alpina D5 S is eager to prove its worth as a diesel car that could give petrol-powered sedans and wagons a run for their money in terms of acceleration and speed.

The new BMW Alpina D5 S is derived from the new G30 generation of the BMW 5-Series. The BMW Alpina D5 S may have less power output as BMW’s high-performance M550d, but it has more torque. This allowed the BMW Alpina D5 S to be as quick as the BMW M550d. However, electronic limitations were loosened up a little, allowing the D5 S to be faster than the M550d.

Since there were only 891 examples of the M5 wagon, BMW never really had the chance to formally launch the model to the US. Good news is, a special dealer of BMW from Cincinnati has one currently on sale. For $129,990, you could own a rare 1995 BMW M5 Touring which also happens to be the final production year for BMW’s E34 generation.

As described on its website at www.enthusiastauto.com, the M5 is on sale with 96,206 accumulated mileage and is painted in Santorin blue with Diamond Schwartz lower trim and Lotus White Nappa leather for its interior. The leather upholstery’s piping comes in the same shade as the exterior’s body paint including the stitching along the nubuck headliner, the door handles, its ABC pillars, at the shift knob and its dashboard.

Packed with 335hp (250kW) 3.8-liter straight six engine, the high performance wagon in Santorin Blue is just one of the two examples ever built with the same specification. After acquiring the M5, the seller said it has been slightly modified and has since undergone comprehensive checkups to ensure that it is ready to be driven and enjoyed.

The mere thought of a Rolls-Royce wagon is quite silly. But hey, it didn’t take us long before we realized that it isn’t that hideous after seeing X-Tomi Design’s latest spinoff.

The artist derived its digital rendition from the eighth generation Phantom following the limousine’s official launch in London. Rolls-Royce did come up with wagons way back when there were no SUVs yet. Do you remember the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud from 1959 that the coachbuilder converted into a wagon? There used to be four of them. As a matter of fact, the British automaker did those conversions together with H.J Mulliner and so the idea of a Rolls-Royce wagon isn’t totally new.

“Project Cullinan” instead is now in the works and will be the first sports utility vehicle to be offered officially by the luxury carmaker. Strangely, while Rolls-Royce’s SUV prototype was being developed, several spy shots have actually revealed some close resemblances to the all-new Phantom. It only seems logical since the dimensions of the current Phantom is virtually the same as a truck. The difference is that the SUV gets to sit on a taller platform.

Honda had just shared detailed specs of the tenth generation Accord. The updated version not only looks better physically - it has been made larger, but lighter. The 2018 model year also comes with new engine options and additional standard safety features. Honda also confirmed that there will no longer be a coupe variant of it.

The new 2018 Honda Accord can actually fit in the Acura’s lineup, especially the range-topping Touring model that comes with LED headlights. As mentioned earlier, the 2018 model is bigger thanks to its longer wheelbase of 2.16 inch (55 millimeters). The sedan also has a sportier look because it is 0.39 inch (10 mm) wider, and 0.59 inch (15 mm) lower. To keep its weight down despite the increase in size, Honda made use of aluminum and ultra-high-strength steel in the chassis, losing a total of 50 to 80 kilos (110 pounds to 176 pounds), depending on the trim.

Having a longer wheelbase always means more space - either for the interior, the trunk, or both. In the case of the 2018 Accord, rear passengers get 2 inches (51 mm) of more legroom for a more comfortable ride, while the driver and front passenger seats have been pushed inward, giving them more hip and shoulder space. Visibility is also improved thanks to the thinner A-pillars. The new Accord also gets a larger trunk capacity, with more than one cubic foot for the combustion models, and up to 3.2 cubic feet for the Hybrid - as the battery pack can’t be found under the hood anymore.

Mercedes-Benz is not the company you expect to produce slow poke vehicles, and if you want more power boost then they got you covered with an AMG option. The team of tuners at Brabus takes these Mercedes-Benz releases and turns them into bolder, madder creations. Now the notable tuner has revealed its latest creation named the Brabus E-Class Wagon which is based on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate.

Clients who are searching for an even edgier style can opt for new wheel designs that measure between 18 and 21 in diameter. The larger ones measure 9 inches in front and 10.5 inches at the back.

These wheels were safety-certified for the S 213 model series by independent German Technical Inspection Association TUV. Drivers can also opt to make the big wheels look more attractive by choosing Brabus' suspension turning alternative.

Only recently, it was rumoured that BMW has been putting their time and energy into venturing and coming up with brand new niches to launch into the global automotive markets. Lately, we have observed that almost everything has been dished out from the German automaker including the Gran Tourers, Active Tourers and Gran Coupes, however they haven't released vehicles that can go head to head against the Audi Allroad or the Mercedes Benz E Class All Terrain. Audi has been releasing Allroad units that are largely influenced by the A6 Avant models ever since '99.

It was reported that back at the BMW HQ, there are new things occurring, but they are apparently planning to target Tesla and the prime market. The 3 Series GT replacement is rumoured to be an electric car, and the 6er is reviving the 8 series trademark but with a consequential price increase. So it’s predicted that the 5 Series will not come at par with the classic A6 Allroad idea.

Now, Sports utility vehicles are creating lots of buzz in the automotive industry. This is why some automakers resorted to tricking their potential customers with high-riding wagons including the Volvo V90 Cross Country and Mercedes-Benz Benz E-Class All Terrain. Now the problem is that wagons are now slowly losing their appeal with the American consumers.

Even as Volkswagen has just started taking orders for the VW Arteon in Germany. Arteon fanatics are already asking for a wagon variant of the Passat sedan. Some people actually prefer a long-roof version of it. It’s an awesome idea, if you ask us.

Luckily, the company admitted that they have thought of it already. In fact, as early as now, the people from Wolfsburg are referring to it as a “shooting brake”, but decided to just call it a wagon instead. Maybe so it doesn’t sound too old-school.

Don’t lose hope, guys! Elmar-Marius Licharz, Head of VW’s Full-Size Product Lines, did say that it is possible. However, from a business perspective, it will have to depend on the current Arteon’s success. If the sedan version becomes a hit, and receives a stamp of approval, then they will add the wagon to extend the lineup. So if you are reading this, then show some support if you want the wagon variant.

The new BMW 5 Series Touring is definitely the sporty all-rounder model of the range. It is smart, luxurious and elegant, and at the same time, functional and dynamic. Now, German premium carmaker BMW is showing at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show that the BMW 5 Series Touring (G31) could be made hotter with a range of performance upgrades courtesy of M Performance Parts.

First off, the dynamic road performance new BMW 5 Series Touring could be boosted with the BMW M Performance Power Kits – and this is done without significantly affecting their fuel consumption levels and the emissions rate, as per EU test cycle. At launch, the BMW 540i xDrive Touring (petrol) will be available with the BMW Power and Sound Kit that could increase the power output of its six-cylinder in-line petrol engine – mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission -- from 250 kW (240 hp) to 265 kW (360 hp). The BMW Power and Sound Kit could also hike its torque levels from 450 Nm to 500 Nm – resulting to a greater engine response and pulling power. Just as the kit’s name indicates, it also bestows the BMW 540i xDrive Touring with a sporty soundtrack thanks to its silencer system.

Of course, BMW 5 Series customers who don’t want the power upgrade could avail of the BMW M Performance exhaust system as a separate product. The BMW M Performance exhaust system is available for the BMW 540i xDrive Touring and the BMW 530i Touring while a diesel version is offered for the BMW 530d Touring, BMW 530d xDrive Touring and BMW 520d Touring. The BMW M Performance exhaust system comes with a stainless steel sports silencer that furthers the visual appeal of the BMW 5 Series Touring models. Round or trapezoid tailpipe trims in chrome or carbon fiber are offered depending on the engine type and equipment level of the customer’s BMW 5 Series. All versions of the new BMW 5 Series Touring could be specified with the trapezoid tailpipe trims.

For people who love Hyundai’s i30 small family car but need more space and practicality, here is good news for you: the next generation of the Hyundai i30 Tourer (also called Hyundai i30 Wagon) will be soon arriving at dealerships as the 2017 model.

Before commencing sales, the South Korean carmaker is full on its intent to officially take the veil off the third generation of the Hyundai i30 Tourer at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show scheduled next month.

But already, Hyundai has divulged some details about the 2017 i30 Tourer that it thinks would help build up interest for the small family wagon. For instance, Hyundai has revealed how large the new i30 Tourer is. Its overall dimensions measure 4,585 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width and 1,465 mm in height. When the roof rack is specified, the overall height increases by 10 mm to 1,475 mm. Meanwhile, the five-door version of the third-gen Hyundai i30 Tourer is shorter than the four-door variant at 4,340 mm. Both versions of the new Hyundai i30 Tourer boast of a wheelbase that measures 2,650 mm.

Barely a month before its official debut, Hyundai gave everyone a taste of what’s to come with the 2017 Hyundai i30 Wagon. Despite what little was shown, it did not disappoint as the general consensus is that the boot capacity of this latest offering is expected to be greater than the previous model.

This newest version is the third generation of this family hauler and looking at its side, it’s apparent that the roofline has been extended and the rear end redesigned. No wonder Hyundai can easily say that the capacity of the trunk is indeed larger. By how much larger? Compared to the Kia cee’d SW with a trunk capacity of 528 liters, the new 2017 i30 Wagon is expected to offer a total volume that is larger by 17 liters.

With regards to the unit that powers the 2017 i30 Wagon, it is expected to be the same as that of the one inside the five-door hatchback. Specifically, this is the 1.4-liter turbocharged gas-powered engine capable of 138 hp (103 kW) with maximum torque of 197 lb.-ft. (242 Nm). For those who think this is too much power, Hyundai is offering a 1.4-liter naturally-aspirated version that can deliver 100 hp. As if that is not enough, Hyundai is also giving customers the chance to have the three-cylinder turbocharged 1.0-liter engine with output of 120 hp.
