Renowned Italian coachbuilder Bertone designed the surreal Lancia Stratos Zero Concept that was displayed at the Turin Motor Show. It showcased a different dimension with its futuristic concept, a deviation from the production model that bears the same name, but it was still as eye-catching as ever. Due to its one of a kind aesthetic, it even made a cameo appearance at the 1998 Michael Jackson movie titled Moonwalker.
The fully-functioning prototype was powered by a Lancia V4 engine that belts out a robust 115hp with 2 twin-choke Solex carburetors located under the crazy triangle-shaped engine cover in the center of the concept car. The futuristic design also flaunted a row of headlights across the front with 55 watt bulbs. Its turn signals were consecutive, going from the center to its edges.
Also, the back ribbon of lights has a strip of 84 mini bulbs. Inside, the seats had a near horizontal position, with its windshield extended overhead to provide a great view of the road and of the sky above. Typically, automotive brands tie up with reputable watchmakers in creating their line of watches. There is Richard Mille for McLaren as well as Hublot for Ferrari. But for Porsche, designing its own timepiece is part of defying the norm, just like what it does with its racecars.
Porsche Monoblock Actuator Chronotimer was introduced at the 2017 Baselworld Watch and Jewelry Expo in Switzerland. This event happens to be the largest watch and jewelry fair worldwide. During its launch, Porsche Design AG said it will be throwing in five different versions of the watch including the limited edition model.
While some of its versions give a nod to the early Porsche Design collection, the special edition Monobloc was inspired by the new Porsche 911 RSR. If anything, the new Monobloc Actuator in Titanium is a sophisticated piece of art by Porsche Design.Read the entire article Porsche’s titanium Monobloc Actuator watch is priced from $6,350, set for release this May
As Land Rover unfurled its new 2018 Range Rover Velar to the global public at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, a new special chronograph from Zenith is being displayed beside this newest member of the Range Rover family, also with the name Velar. It is not surprising though, since this special watch celebrates the launch of the new Range Rover Velar.
It is a small watch with a lengthy moniker -- “Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition.” If you are planning to the purchase a new 2018 Range Rover Velar (which comes with a starting price of $50,895), then this special watch would be the perfect complement ($8,700). Actually, it is the first time that Land Rover and Zenith had collaborated. It can be remembered that Zenith also created a special chronograph to celebrate the launch of the Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic in September 2016.
Velar is not an entirely a new moniker for Land Rover. In 1969, Rover started a project that would lead to the creation of the Range Rover in 1970. Around 26 pre-production Range Rover prototypes were created but were needed to be concealed from others by the carmaker’s development engineers. To conceal its existence, these engineers referred to the prototypes as Velar, as derived from the Latin term ‘velare’ that means to veil or to cover.Read the entire article $8700 special edition watch from Zenith is the perfect match to the 2018 Range Rover Velar
McLaren is back with its Formula One-theme chronographs! When McLaren divorced from long-time watch partner TAG Heuer, not a few were disappointed with the end of their partnership seeing how this could affect the carmaker’s prized F1 watches. Thankfully, McLaren found a new partner in the persona of high-end watchmaker Richard Mille.
Finally, the first fruit of the collaboration between the British carmaker and racing team and famed chronographer has been revealed – the all-new limited edition RM 50-03 Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph Ultralight McLaren F1. Yes, we admit that its name is a bit long, and perhaps it is the longest among high-end luxury watches. We will refer to the RM 50-03 Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph Ultralight McLaren F1 as RM 50-03 Tourbillon for the sake of brevity from here on.
Interestingly, while its name is quite long, the RM 50-03 Tourbillon is the lightest mechanical watch ever made, with a weight of less than 40 grams. Despite its lightweight nature, the RM 50-03 Tourbillon reportedly comes with a heavyweight price tag. According to reports, you could get one of the 75 examples of this F1-imspired high-end watch for around $1 million, and that price tag doesn’t include taxes. This pricing is quite logical considering the fact that the watches that Richard Mille has created cost $100,000 or more while its Tourbillon chronographs sells for around half a million dollars. Taking into account that this is an F1 timepiece with only 75 examples carefully crafted, the price of $1 million is not surprising.Read the entire article McLaren and Richard Mille unveil new RM 50-03 Split-seconds chronograph priced at $1 million
