Alpina is releasing a new limited edition model that is essentially a more powerful and more appealing re-creation of the BMW 4 Series. This is the new BMW Alpina B4 S Bi-Turbo Edition 99, which would be sold either as a convertible and coupe versions, with deliveries set next year. As its name indicates, only 99 examples of the Edition 99 will be built.
This new BMW Alpina B4 S Biturbo Edition 99 is a limited edition model of the Alpina B4 S, which was derived from the BMW 4 Series. However, the B4 S is even more powerful and more dynamic than the high performance iteration of the 4 Series – the M4 Coupe. The Coupe version of the Edition 99 can be availed either as rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive (left-hand drive only). The Convertible model of the Edition, meanwhile, is configured as a rear-wheel drive.
While the 3.0-liter straight-six turbocharged engine of the M4 delivers 431 hp of output, the 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six mill inside the B4 S offers up to 440 hp (324 kW). It also delivers 442 lb.-ft. It seems like we are reporting about BMW cars every week. And this week, we are going to talk about the BMW 8 Series, because first, we have been waiting for its arrival, and second, it comes with a handful of technology, as well as two engine options. More details have emerged about the new sixth generation of the BMW M3 just as the German premium practically announced the end of the current-gen 3 Series with the unveiling of the track-focused BMW M3 CS.
As reported by the Car Magazine, the next generation of the BMW M3 has a codename of G80. The next BMW M3 is bound to be introduced in 2021, around three years after BMW launches the new generation of the 3-Series saloon (codenamed G20) in 2018. The 3-Series saloon will be followed by the 3-Series Touring (G21) in 2019 and by the 4-Series coupe and convertible (G22/23) in 2020.
The next generation of the M3 is expected to don the tweaks implemented on the 3-Series. These tweaks are seen to include a wider track, a lower center of gravity and a longer wheelbase, as well as a more stable aerodynamic balance and more user-friendly ergonomics. G-Power is known as one of the few BMW-tuning specialists, and they now have fresh upgrades for the newest 5 Series that is already quite powerful to begin with. What the tuner did was that they installed an additional engine control module that lets the car access more power from its engine.
Specially made for BMW’s 3.0 liter inline six diesel engine, the D-Tronik 5 V1 can help give it a major upgrade in output. To be more specific, when the M550d xDrive is tuned, it gets 59 horsepower (44 kilowatts) more than the stock model, adding up to 453 horsepower (338 kilowatts), and 74 pound-feet (100 Newton metres) more torque, totaling with 634 pound-feet (860 Newton metres). Similarly, the 540d can be maximized to 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (750 Nm) of torque after the upgrade, compared to the standard version which only had an output of 315 horsepower (235 kilowatts) and 502 pound-feet (680 Nm).
That’s not all though, there is also the Bi-Tronik 5 V1, but this time, it is for the 3.0 liter inline six gasoline fueled mill. While the reveal of the 2018 BMW M5 (F90) has been met with plenty of applause, there are a number of people who want a much wider trunk space from this model on top of the hot sedan's updated look, more powerful engine and new performance features like shifting from an all-wheel to a rear-wheel drive.
But since the Bavarian company has not come up with that yet, an artist from X-Tomi Design has rendered one. And what was created looks like a facelifted M5 Touring. It was back in 2007 when BMW last offered a Touring version of the M5, when it was released with the E61. Also, back then the company did not produce that many units of the M5 Touring, and the variant did not even reach US soil. Since then, BMW has skipped the touring trim in the last generation F10.
This is why we think that this rendering should encourage BMW to produce a Touring variant, which would make a lot of customers more satisfied. Under the hood of the 2018 M5 is a 4.4 liter V8 that produces as much as 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton metres) of torque. This is the time of the year when automakers give us teasers and previews of their upcoming models. Now, it seems like BMW is ready to unveil the M5 (F90) after a series of teasers, spy shots and leaked photos online.
So far, we know for sure that it will be a very powerful car, as it will be equipped with a 4.4 liter biturbo V8, allowing the M5 to yield as much as 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) at 5,600 to 6,700 rpm, and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton-metres) of torque. This is indeed an upgrade compared to its predecessor with only 575 hp (428 kW) and 500 lb-ft (677 Nm) of torque. This powertrain will be working with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox, giving power to all four wheels via an M xDrive system, with an option to shift from 4WD, 4WD Sport, 2WD, or to completely turn off the stability control. It will also have a few driving modes including: Efficient, Sport, and Sport Plus.
Given that power, the M5 can now perform much better with the 0-62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) sprint, reducing it to just 3.4 seconds, before it continues on to reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kmh). BMW has yet to officially take the wraps off the next generation of the BMW M5 high performance sporty sedan, but it has already dropped a number of juicy details that would surely make interested customers, fans and enthusiasts salivate.
First and foremost, the sixth generation of the BMW M5 will be the first BMW unit to feature the M xDrive system, a groundbreaking all-wheel drive technology that allows four-wheel drive vehicles to be as sporty as their rear-wheel drive counterparts.
Specifically, the new BMW M5 is an all-wheel drive sporty sedan as a default, but its drivetrain features a rear-biased setup. BMW M235i Coupe was offered only with rear-wheel drive but it appears that things are about to change as the Bavarian carmaker will offer the sporty coupe also with xDrive all-wheel drive. Starting this summer, the M235i Coupe will be available for those who want even more traction for their vehicle.
The M235i Coupe comes as standard with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology that delivers 326 hp (240 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.

BMW has unveiled its new 2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe at the New York International Auto Show, with sale set to commence immediately thereafter. The vehicle presents typical ALPINA design features elegantly marries into the lines of the B6 Gran Coupe. Complementing its long and smooth contours are refined 20-inch Alpina Classic 21-spoke wheels.
2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe features a front apron with integrated, slightly protruding splitter elements that direct airflow over and around the body instead of underneath – making the vehicle more stable even in high speeds. Usually, diesel-powered cars are not considered sports cars and tuning companies don’t like them, but not this one. As a result, Polish-based MM Performance took the BMW M550d and decided to create a new tuning programme for it. Vorsteiner was the company chosen for the front lip spoiler, rear roof spoiler, a carbon fiber air diffuser and the boot lid spoiler.
The vehicle also comes with a new set of Twist gloss-black Vorsteiner VS-340 wheels wrapped in high-performance Continental tires. Still, Vorsteiner was not the only brand chosen by MM Performance as the company also used official BMW M Performance parts such as the carbon fiber side mirrors and the body stripes and the carbon fiber front grille.
BMW M Performance parts are also found at the interior where the car features an M Sport Alcantara steering wheel, centre console and riser. Every new or redesigned BMW rolled out in the United States will now be available with all-wheel drive, Damon Shelly, chairman of BMW's national dealer council told Automotive News. BMW made the promise to its dealers in the US following a fiasco with the introduction of the redesigned 3-series sedan in the US last year.
Although the 3-series went on sale in February 2012, it was not until late August that US dealers received all-wheel drive, according to Shelly. BMW of North America executives admitted that the fiasco heavily affected its 2012 sales, since almost half of all 3-series sedans sold in the US have awd. Shelly said that the awd fiasco "created a lot of pressure," to boost sales in the fourth quarter of 2012, Shelly said, adding that it was the main reason why BMW piled on incentives, especially in December.
Shelly remarked that BMW invested a lot to make sure that 2012 was successful. He remarked that BMW’s 14-percent increase in US sales at 281,460 vehicles boosted dealer profitability in 2012. Dealers are also anxious over the new dealership facility standards, which may be implemented this year. BMW celebrates the 25th anniversary of the BMW 325iX – the first all-wheel-drive car – this year. It’s a rare occurrence not to come across the cars that had been derived from it -- from gas guzzling SUVs such as the X5 to the 3 series 328i xDrive.
The BMW 325iX was the first of its kind when it was introduced in 1985. It featured the sharp steering prowess that all BMW models are famous for along with improved traction in challenging conditions. Back then, the model was only offered with one engine: a 2.5-liter six-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 171 hp (126 kW).
