2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 revealed

Channeling the air so it's utilized most efficiently was a thorough procedure that eventually will be rewarding to buyers. The development of the front fascia and the vehicle's "flush" hood assists in focusing the flow of air. The top part of the grill channels air into the radiator, with a rubber flap inside the engine section aiding to seal the system.

The lower grill aids in cooling the intercooler. SVT technicians also went as far to close particular parts of the front of the 2010 Shelby GT500's characteristic diamond-studded grill to assist in maintaining the right cooling and sleek balance. The 2010 Shelby is the most-full bodied design and most-unique version of the latest 2010 Mustang range. "The design we chose was a 'flush' hood where the fascia defines the entire front of the vehicle," said Hameedi. "That's very hard to execute from an engineering standpoint, but it really sets the Shelby off as very, very different from the base Mustang."

"This epitomizes the ultimate Mustang," Exterior Design manager of the Mustang and Shelby GT500, George Saridakis added. "It's all about power and expressing power." Saridakis said his team took a prompt from the Shelby AC Cobra 427 with regards to the front grills, which are open and look ready to swallow the road.

Another apparent distinction for the Shelby is the addition of racing stripes, which also will now be offered on the convertible. "Racing stripes made their mark on 1960s-era Ford performance vehicles," notes Hameedi. "That's something we feel is a key part of the Shelby performance DNA maybe more so than some of our competition."

Completing the Shelby's surface improvements are the special signature coiled Cobra insignias on the front grill and front fenders, a more belligerent front splitter and lower-drag rear spoiler, which provided more improved sleek features.

"We wanted the spoiler raked back aggressively to minimize drag, but we also have an integrated Gurney Flap that provides the downforce," said Saridakis. The basic 2010 Mustang got a potent new inside design. For the GT500, the members of the inside design team encouraged themselves to raise the standard even higher to make the final interior for the Shelby Mustang. Utilizing authentic materials such as genuine leather in all seats, real aluminum on the instrument panel and Alcantara inserts on the seats and steering wheel offered the look of precision crafted, jewel-like yet functional sensation. "You'll definitely know you're in a Shelby," commented Douglas Gaffka, Chief Designer, Shelby GT500.

The authentic aluminum finish panels have a special-to-GT500 three-dimensional dimpled surface pattern motivated by racing clutch plates, braided hoses and cross-drilled racing brake rotors. The outline has been thoroughly tuned to pay off for the compound arches of the instrument panels. Additionally, the "GT500" emblem has been subtly engraved into the aluminum in front of the passenger in honor to classic Shelby Mustangs of the 60s. This special aluminum finish panel is totally enveloped by a superb soft smooth TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) instrument panel with a figure that reverberates with Mustang's powerful legacy.

The middle stack moves into the console and highlights a sub-flush shifter trim ring, flush cup holder door and lockable console stowage highlighting the name "SHELBY" etched in its Satin Liquid Chrome release button. Every one of the 2010 Mustangs and Shelbys highlight bright 360-degree rings going around the gauge cluster, not interrupted by the column of the steering wheel.

These rings comes in chrome for the Mustang and a Satin Liquid Chrome finish for the GT500. This theme is featured all over the interior. An complex cobra is engraved into the middle of the aluminum steering wheel emblem. The Shelby Cobra emerges at startup on the navigation screen, and the recognizable red "SVT" emblem uses the latest ambient lighting to light up the door scuffplate.

Saridakis said that "When customers drive this car, they're not only going to be impressed by the performance and the Shelby heritage, but they're going to see all these carefully designed details and know they've bought a well-crafted car." The classic white shift knob, a symbol of Shelby Mustang DNA from past years, even received unique attention. Primarily, it had to be the customary white. It also had to be particular to the Shelby. The solution was to merge the racing-stripes theme with the customary "H" shape found on shifters to make a unique knob. In keeping with the exterior, the racing stripes wrap from end to end, going around the knob.

The 2010 Shelby GT500 consists of several Ford innovations and industry-only typical highlights, composed of SYNC: The voice-activated hands-free in-car communication and entertainment system designed by Ford and Microsoft. The system totally incorporates most Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones and digital media players, giving buyers hands-free cell phone and music selection facilities, in addition to the latest 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Report offered free of monthly fees.

When a phone is appropriately coupled, activated and linked to SYNC, the system is prepared to assist in placing a call straight to a local 911 emergency operator when the airbags are deployed as in an accident. The chief benefit of SYNC 911 Assist is its speed, since calls are made directly to local 911 operators. SYNC collects important details from the main vehicle control modules and packs diagnostic data into a usable format in minutes. That data pack is sent to Ford via an 800-number which is automatically dialed utilizing the buyer's coupled and operable mobile phone.

Ambient Lighting System with MyColor enables drivers to individualize the inside lighting of the vehicle to match their current mood. The improved MyColor system highlights seven basic colors: ice blue, green, purple, blue, red, orange, red, and white. Buyers can also create their own 125 custom colors by combining the red-green-blue palette. Options available consist of a Voice-Activated Navigation with SIRIUS Travel Link, an industry-leading technology that will give users a special, information-rich in-car experience.

A host of data services consist of up-to-the-minute real-time traffic information with accident and incident date for 78 markets, coast-to-coast weather data plus current conditions and 5-day weather forecasts and fuel price info for more than 120,000 fuel stations. SIRIUS Travel Link also provides scores of your favorite sports and schedules and a listing of more than 4,500 movie theaters with movie schedules, addresses of theaters, synopses of movies and much more. This merger of exceptional performance joined together with a new, exciting, well-crafted inside powerfully focused on enhancing the whole experience will make the 2010 Shelby GT500 even more preferred, and a proper addition to a long and proud history. This spring, the 2010 Shelby GT500 will be available in dealerships. The vehicles will be made at the Auto Alliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, USA.
