Offering a smaller carbon footprint and heightened responsiveness, the 2010 Suzuki SX4 SportBack has an all-new 2.0-liter engine that delivers 150 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, in combination with 140lb.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm.
The SX4 SportBack succeeds the SX4 Crossover, which combines the practicality of a five-door hatch and the neo-aggressive dynamic of a Eurocentric sport sedan.
Due to its sport mode and in the tradition of the urban-oriented SX4 sold in European markets, the SX4 SportBack features a lower ride height, performance shocks and standard anti-roll bars.
The changes to the exterior include the removed roof-mounted rack, minor tweaks to the bumper and grille, revised rear spoiler, chin spoiler and side skirts.
Meanwhile, more than a dozen improvements have been made on its interior, including power windows and locks, dual power rearview mirrors, tilt steering wheel, trip computer, split folding rear seats and rear passenger floor vents.
The SportBack's interior trim enjoys an all-new instrument cluster, aluminum-look accents, a four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with MP3 and XM Satellite Radio compatibility, a driver's information center and armrest for the driver's seat.
The standard integrated navigation system on the 2009 SX4 is seen as well on the 2010 SX4 SportBack with notable enhancements: Airline arrival and departures, 3D graphics, lane guidance and Doppler weather maps.
Suzuki designed the new Suzuki SX4 to accommodate up to five people and their cargo in comfort, while still delivering a sleek and stylish appearance. Four-wheel drive (4WD) versions of the SX4 measure 4,150 mm x 1,755 mm in width and 1,620mm in height. Two-wheel drive models have the same length and width but are lower at 1,605 mm. Along with a minimum turning circle of 10.6 meters, these efficient proportions allow the new SX4 to easily maneuver around narrow streets and to easily park in spaces in which large SUVs won't fit.
Inside, the new Suzuki SX4 offers ample leg and shoulder rooms for its front and rear passengers. While space is one of the factors in ensuring on-board comfort, it is also complemented by the shape and position of the seats. Furthermore, it is now easier to enter the new SX4, thanks to the ideal seat heights, high ground clearance and large door openings. Since the rear seats are set slightly higher, rear passengers also benefits from good all-round view.
Thanks to the fact that it features 60:40 rear seats, the new Suzuki SX4 could carry long items while still accommodating up to two rear passengers. These seats can also be tumbled forward to pave way for a nearly flat load floor, which hikes cargo capacity from just 270 liter to 625 liters VDA.
