2011 Bmw E92/E93: first details revealed

Article by Christian A., on August 26, 2010

An official announcement from BMWNA on the 2011 E92/E93 is expected to be made several weeks from now on. However, we heard from sources that the vehicles will be receiving sportier- new bumpers, LED lights and slight interior tweaks.

The 335i models that were optionally equipped with the M-Sport package or with the Sports Package will have 19-inch wheels, a step up from the current 18s.

New color choices will be available for the exterior and interior, including Anthracite Bamboo trim. Like its four siblings, the automatic high beam assist will be added to the option sheet.

These modified models will be some of the first to optionally offer the "pull/pull" paddles (like ///M in the past) for transmissions without a third pedal, a feature that is likely to launch with the F10 5 Series.

BMW also unveiled the "iS" version (US exclusive model). This ultra sporty version will include a transmission choice of the DCT or a Sport Automatic as well as special styling and aerodynamics. Some M Sport items, such as a steering wheel will be included.

Watch out for similar engine tweaks to the inline 6 N54 twin turbo as have been found in the 7RR package on the X6 and the recently released Z4sDrive35iS. Aside from this report, we also learned recently about the E92/E93 Life Cycle Impulse (aka facelift), about the 135 getting a dual-clutch transmission as well as the 2010 BMW complete model launch plans.

The already dynamic character of the new BMW 3-Series Saloon has been further emphasized by stunning accents on the front and rear ends as well as on the sides. On the other hand, the already sporty, elegant profile of the new BMW 3-Series Touring has been further enhanced by new visual features that are easily recognizable from any angle.

The front end of the new BMW 3-Series Saloon and Touring is styled to further emphasize the width of these models. The face of the new 3-Series is marked by double circular headlights, which looks are accentuated by using chrome tubes.

In addition, when the optional bi-xenon headlamps are availed, the corona rings in the new 3-Series Saloon and Touring model could function as daytime running lights. Meanwhile, the light sources of the direction indicators boast of a ribbed structure. Moreover, LED direction indicator lights are now fitted in conjunction with the optional bi-xenon headlamps.

On the sides, the new BMW 3-Series Saloon and Touring are marked by dynamic taut surfaces and stunning character lines. The side skirts now have higher contour edges. Furthermore, the exterior mirrors sport two distinctive character lines that mirror the interplay between the convex and concave shaping of the surfaces. In addition, the mirrors now deliver a larger field of vision.
