2011 Fiat Doblo Work Up: details, photos and specs

Article by Christian A., on September 8, 2011

Fiat Professional has added a new vehicle version to its award-winning Doblò Cargo van range. Dubbed as the Doblò Work Up, this “dropside” vehicle showcases compact external dimensions, making it easy to use in urban regions.

However, the external dimensions do not limit the vehicle’s performance. For one, it has a loading area of 4 square meters that can accommodate a maximum payload of 1,000kg.

The load box is 1.82 meters in width and 2.30 meters in length. It is made of high-resistance steel with anti-slip multilayer wood as flooring and aluminum alloy on the sides.

Moreover, the multi-link suspension allows a maximum rear-axle load of 1,450kg. Below the floor is a compartment for stowing long tools, safely protected from the elements. Furthermore, on each of the vehicle’s side is a small, practical step that lets the user get into the load area.

This structure has a sturdy protective grille on the rear window of the cab, ladder rack/door poles, and load restraining hooks. All these features allow the Doblò Work Up to be ideal for the sectors of city parks services, construction, agriculture or maintenance.

The new Doblò Work Up is powered by a choice of two Euro 5 turbodiesel engines: the 1.6 MultiJet 105 bhp and 1.3 MultiJet 90 bhp.

Both these engines are characterized by environmental friendliness, reliability, low operating costs in terms of maintenance and fuel consumption, low noise, and excellent performance. Additionally, both feature the diesel particulate filter and the fuel-saving Start&Stop system.

When it comes to security, the ones inside the Doblò Work Up is unmatched. Fitted to this model are the different advanced mechanical solutions like stability control and a multi-link rear suspension. There is even the anti-lock brake system (ABS) that comes with an electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD). All of these were done to make sure that it will optimize comfort, dynamic performance, and most importantly, active safety.

Equipped as standard are airbags in the front that meet safety requirements. Included as well are the Blue&Me TomTom navigator and the Blue&Me hands-free system. To help drivers with hill starts, offered as an option is the ESP with Hill-holder. Price for the basic Doblò Work Up fitted with the MultiJet 1.3-liter 16v Euro 5 engine is £16,065. Meanwhile the version equipped with the MultiJet 1.6-liter 16v Euro 5 engine is at £17,065.

Fiat Professional Marketing Product Manager Francesco Russiello shares that the Doblò Work Up is the latest example of a model that is designed to lead the pack when it comes to functional features, ease of loading, capability, and performance.

Running costs are low as well with its reduced fuel consumption which leads to lower operating costs, he continues. Russiello adds that all of these combined with the level of equipment give it that comfort and safety that make this commercial vehicle a good choice.

FIAT PROFESSIONAL LAUNCHES NEW DOBLÒ WORK UP

The appeal of Fiat Professional's award-winning Doblò Cargo van range has just been broadened with a version never before introduced by a large volume manufacturer.

Called the Doblò Work Up, it's a 'dropside' vehicle with compact external dimensions allowing easy use in urban areas. The external dimensions are not, however, a limit to its performance.
