Shoppers at Harrod’s, considered as the world’s most famous luxury store, will be treated to a plush view of one of the latest offerings of premium carmaker Lexus. Available to see as part of the four-window Lexus display at Harrod’s is the new CT 200h premium hatchback hybrid. While most displays only allow onlookers and curious bystanders to view the showcased product, it will be a different matter for Lexus’ platform at the luxury store.
Yes, anyone can also access – not just view – the CT 200h hybrid hatchback as well as the Lexus RX 450h hybrid SUV model. The third showcase on display will the latest Mark Levinson audio technology, as featured in a number of Lexus models. The four-window display is completed by a Lexus Lounge, which was designed by the carmaker with Harrods’ own creative team. For people wanting to arrange a test drive or to place an order, they can do so inside Harrod’s.
They will be assisted by a member of the Lexus team for further information. The team will right away forward customer details to the appropriate Lexus center using iPads. Lexus Director Belinda Poole remarked that bringing the premium brand and the new CT 200h to Harrods during the holiday period provides them an opportunity to present the new luxury hatchback in a “perfect environment.”
She added that the display gives them an opportunity to introduce the Quiet Revolution of Lexus hybrid drive, adding that the project will help Lexus target key customers. She remarked that Lexus’ hybrid drive technology is ideally suited to city center driving as it delivers lower emissions without compromising performance and comfort. She noted that the CT 200h is the only luxury automatic that is exempt from London’s congestion charge.
At the core of the CT 200h is a hybrid powertrain comprised of a 1.8-liter 98 hp (73kW VVT-i) gasoline engine and an 80 hp (60 kW) electric motor, which when combined provides a total output of 134 hp (100kW). Such power allows the CT 200h to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 9.8 seconds. Because of this hybrid combo, the vehicle logged a combined EPA estimated fuel economy rating of 42 mpg.
Also, the CT 200h generates less NOx and zero particulate emissions when compared to a similar diesel vehicle. During EV mode, the hatchback could summon pure electric power for up to 1 mile at speeds of 28 mph max. For a more customized driving experience, the MY2011 CT 200h offers two distinct driving moods -- Dynamic and Relaxing – and four driving modes -- EV, ECO, NORMAL and SPORT. The Lexus display will be accessible to shoppers at the Knightsbridge store until January 15.
