Daimler revealed today the 2011 Smart ForTwo Facelift, the new generation of its popular featuring a fresh interior look, an upgraded exterior and even more environmentally friendly engines.
For the new generation Smart brings a wider range of colours for a more striking appearance and this means that the customers can choose from from seven exterior colours instead of the previous six, including a trendy matt finish.
Also, the light blue metallic will replace the previous blue metallic. New for 2011, is the possibility to paint the front spoiler, side skirts and the rear apron in the body colour while the fuel filler cap will be painted in the same colour as the body in future.
Also, for the cabrio version, Smart introduces two new soft top colours: red and blue, while the tridion safety cell available in a brilliant white. Further improvements include the optional LED daytime driving lights as well as the new 15-inch alloy wheels.
The interior has been redesigned and includes dials with a contrasting dark central disc in the instrument cluster and dashboard instruments and an optional fabric-covered folding centre armrest.
As an option, Smart offers the 3-spoke leather steering wheel with cruise control function and a trip computer. The new audio system navigation/multimedia comes with a large 16.5 cm display, integrated navigation system, Bluetooth hands-free system, USB and AUX port for external devices and an interface for controlling an iPod. The Brabus Xclusive line is now available with new rim design for the Monoblock VII alloy wheels and a new double-pipe rear muffler.
Inside, the Brabus line offers new dials as well as control function available as an option. Under the hood, the 50 hp cdi turbodiesel engine is the CO2 champion with emissions of just 86 g/km. The 56 hp and 65 hp deliver an impressive fuel consumption of just 4.2 litres of petrol per 100 km (combined figure). The 77 hp engine consumes 4.9 litres of fuel over 100 km (corresponding to CO2 emissions of 114 g/km). Regarding the Brabus version the power was increased from 90 hp to 93 hp.
