Gilt Groupe announced that it is partnering with Volkswagen of America and will sell three all-new 2011 Jettas to its members. The big surprise is that each car will be sold at a very affordable price of just $5,995. Yes, Volkswagen just made a discount of 10k, as the price for the 2011 Jetta starts at $15,995.
The sale will start on December 15th and it will be accessible only through Gilt mobile applications on the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Android devices.
On December 16th and 17th, the sale will take place on Gilt.com as well as through the mobile applications. Each car will be presented in a one of a kind "Gilt Gold" wrap and nearly $18,000 in proceeds from the Jettas sold will be donated to the charity Dress for Success.
Gilt Groupe President Carl Sparks shared that the company is excited to partner with Volkswagen in order to sell the Jetta. The company has ensured that it will continue to provide insider access on a daily basis to a wide range of exclusive products. Sparks added that the sale allowed the company to extend this exclusivity by giving customers the chance to by a stylish and sophisticated car at a special price.
Tim Ellis, Vice President of Marketing for Volkswagen of America, Inc., also shared that Gilt as a partner was a perfect fit as the two companies cater to customers who put importance on sophistication, style, and quality at an affordable price.
Ellis further said that Gilt has offered a special price for the Jetta at $5,995 and this has helped the company take its 'Great for the Price of Good' slogan to a whole new level. This clearly will create the necessary attention and excitement for the model, he concluded.
The specially priced Jetta went on sale on December 15 but was only available by using Gilt’s mobile applications downloaded to an Android device, an iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Two days after that, on December 16 and 17, it was made available on Gilt.com, though it continued to be available on mobile applications.
The Jetta will all come with the unique "Gilt Gold" wrap. In addition, almost $18,000 of the proceeds from the sale of the Jetta had been donated to Dress for Success.
Once the sale period is over, Gilt members who had Jetta put on their "Wait List" would get a special incentive by Volkswagen which could then be redeemed at participating Volkswagen dealers across the country.
