Volkswagen's new Touran arrives at the market this week but already, VW has received 12,700 orders. Priced at €21,750, this model is offered with a wide variety of engine choices and trims.
The new Touran is available with TDI and TSI engines that are turbocharged and feature direct-injection. The petrol engine range includes the new 1.2l TSI (105 PS) and two versions of the 1.4l TSI (140 PS or 170 PS).
These units are available with a seven-speed Direct Shift Gearbox. The diesel options include the 1.6l units (90 PS and 105 PS) and 2.0l units that develop either 140 or 170 PS. The powerplants are mated with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG.
The Touran features 695 liters of luggage space (for the five seat configuration) and it has a maximum payload of 660 kg. The vehicle also features Dynamic Light Assist, Park Assist 2.0., bi-xenon headlights and electric panoramic sliding sunroof. VW said that the Touran is ideal as a family car since it offers fun and flexibility and is a valuable everyday companion.
The VW also said that this MPV is the leading model when it comes to security and comfort. VW announced that the Touran's taller sibling, the 2011 CrossTouran, will soon be joining the lineup.
This model has a more dynamic body and it is equipped with longer suspension springs that give it 20 millimeters more ground clearance. If this is more to your liking, you may now order the CrossTouran, which is priced from €27,700. The same engine options are offered in the CrossTouran as the Touran.
