2012 Audi A6 receives Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System

Article by Christian A., on February 4, 2011

The new Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System Audi A6 has recently been announced. This makes the A6 as the eighth Audi model to feature a Bang & Olufsen in-car audio system.

The new Advanced Sound System Audi A6 appears to have been inspired by Audi's A7 Sportback and A8 models and features the same organic petal-and-leaf loudspeaker grille design. The A6 models are fitted with the largest front door grilles ever produced by Bang & Olufsen.

The polished and anodized aluminum grilles in the A6 model are finished in a metal-look platinum color. Upon activating the system, two acoustic lenses rise silently from the dashboard in line with the windshield.

There are 1,330 watts of power sent to 15 high-end loudspeakers by the ICEpower amplifier. In addition, the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System Audi A6 also has a Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which controls equalization, audio mixing and the different sound modes, like the exclusive Movie Mode.

With the use of Bang & Olufsen’s patented True Mix Algorithm, a cinematic experience is offered as DSP transforms 5.1 channel surround sound from a video DVD and uses all 15 of the system’s high-end loudspeakers.

In a company statement, Bang & Olufsen said that its sound engineers worked with Audi experts for more than 300 hours to develop the latest Advanced Sound System. The sound performance was fine-tuned to “match the unique acoustics of the Audi A6 interior.”

Audi’s flagship executive class model, the Audi A6, has just been redesigned. Not only that, the redesigned A6 – featuring a light body and a sporty chassis – comes loaded with an array of new assistance and multimedia systems and an extensive range engines and drivetrains.

Moreover, Audi will soon be offering the A6 Hybrid, which features the power of a V6 and the fuel efficiency of a four-cylinder engine. Since the body of the new Audi A6 is made from aluminum and high-tech steels, it is now lighter yet stiffer and safer.

Furthermore, thanks to the use of innovative design methods and materials, the Audi A6 features low interior noise levels while systematic hydraulic damping in the axle and drivetrain bearings as well as precision tuning of all components ensures superior vibrational comfort.

On the other hand, the proportions and dimensions of the Audi A6 speak of its elegance and athleticism -- 4.92 meters (16.14 ft.) in length, 1.87 meters (6.14 ft.) in width, and 1.46 meters (4.79 ft) in height. It is endowed with a long engine hood and a low sweeping roofline as well as the dynamic lines on the flanks.

Customers may also opt for the available LED headlights to complete the stunning look of the new Audi A6. Inside, the new Audi A6 is as roomy as ever. It comes with the "wrap-around" inlay that seemingly hugs both the driver and the front-seat passenger. A stylishly curved dash panel strategically puts the driver at the center of the sedan’s cabin.
