At around 10 am on April 4 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, BMW will unveil the M6 Convertible and X1 Sport Activity Vehicle to the world at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. BMW will also bring the BMW M6 Coupe, BMW X6 M (which makes its debut in North America) and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe (which debuts in the U.S. auto show) to its stand in New York.

Giving us a glimpse of what’s in store for mobility in the future are the BMW i3 and i8 Concepts. After having been gone for two years, the iconic BMW M6 Convertible and Coupe are set to return, providing more powerful, more athletic, more focused, more luxurious and more efficient than ever.

Since 1987, the M6 brand has impressed consumers with its luxury and everyday practicality of a top range BMW coupe merged with true super-car performance. The all-new BMW M6, which is already in its third generation, will be equipped with a new 560hp M TwinPower Turbo V-8 partnered to a 7-speed M-DCT transmission that could propel them from 0 to 60mph in less than 4.3 seconds.

The much coveted BMW X1 Sport Activity Vehicle will arrive in the U.S. for the first time. Its rising horizontal lines lend it with a sporty, elegant profile. The design of the BMW includes the classic BMW kidney grille, unique headlights and L-shaped taillights – which are typical BMW features. The BMW X1 is the latest BMW vehicle to be powered by TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine which delivers BMW performance with reduced fuel consumption. The updated BMW X1 will be offered in U.S. showrooms starting summer of 2012.

The BMX X1 has a modern, versatile, and agile character that promises a new driving experience for the premium compact segment. The X1 enhances and expands the BMW X model range through another innovative vehicle concept.

With its body design, the X1 demonstrates self-confidence, elegance, versatility, a sporting character, spontaneity, and agility. For the first time, BMW X’s features and characteristics are carried over into a unique premium compact segment vehicle in modern style.

What’s more, the BMW X1’s interior is characterized by trendsetting, offered with a modern style and clear function. The typically BMW driver orientation is accentuated by forward-pushing lines in the car’s cockpit area. The car’s dynamic and youthful flair is also emphasized with the use of natural colors and sophisticated materials.

You will surely enjoy the BMW X1 because of its elevated seating position, its broad range of storage options, its generous sense of space, and its variable interior. The vehicle is perfect for urban driving and beyond, thanks to its high-caliber spontaneity, versatility, and agility. It has 3 full-sized seats at its rear, offering ample space as well as freedom of movement. Also, the backrest for the rear seat is adjustable and can even be folded down in 40/20/20 split. Meanwhile, the capacity for the luggage compartment can be increased from 420 liters/14.7 cubic feet to a maximum of 1,350 liters/47.3 cubic feet. Also available as an option is an electric Panorama glass roof.

Additionally, the BMW X1’s modern drivetrain technology gives it supreme efficiency and superior performance. Depending on what model variant you are driving, you will benefit from its powerful, low-emission, and economical diesel and gasoline engines, as well as its intelligent xDrive AWD or all-wheel-drive technology. It also has a wide range of EfficientDynamics features that include Auto Start Stop, gearshift point indicator, and Brake Energy Regeneration.
