After revealing the fact that it will bring the Spark EV in the United States, Chevrolet also announced today that the all-new 2013 TrailBlazer midsize SUV will be introduced in global markets, beginning in Thailand, in early 2012. As expected, the car will be built on the new global midsize platform developed by GM do Brasil.
This means that the car will be based on the all-new Colorado pickup, and promises to combine the hauling and towing capability of an SUV with the ride comfort and efficiency of a crossover.
Regarding the debut, GM promised to show us the 2013 Chevrolet TrailBlazer at the Dubai International Motor Show, Nov. 10-14. The new vehicle is expected to be powered by the same powertrains found on the new Colorado, and we are talking about the gasoline and diesel engines, including the new 2.5L and 2.8L turbo diesel powerplants.
Earlier this week, General Motors also revealed the fact that the all-new Colorado midsize pickup will be sold and built in the United States, but for the moment the company refused to give us any details regarding the timing, price as well as the production location.
Chevrolet introduced its new SUV, the “haul-anything, go-anywhere” Trailblazer at a presentation prior to the 2012 Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand.
It was first shown as a prototype in the Middle East at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show. The production Trailblazer will be sold internationally from June 2012, starting in Thailand.
Chevrolet’s design for the Trailblazer was adapted from the international body-on-frame midsize truck architecture by General Motors, and enhanced for greater ride comfort and responsiveness in urban and highway situations, as well as top-notch off-road performance.
The Trailblazer’s high-grade interior design, featuring intuitive three-row tumble and fold-flat seating, shows Chevrolet’s competitive strength in the body-on-frame midsize SUV category.
This new SUV’s powerhouse is the new GM four-cylinder Duramax turbo-diesel engine that provides top-class power and torque along with optimised efficiency. Two- and four-wheel drive versions are available.
According to Martin Apfel, president, GM Southeast Asia and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, the all-new Trailblazer series will greatly enhance Chevrolet’s position in the rapidly-growing international SUV markets. Production will take place at GM Thailand's Rayong plant.
Apfel adds that the Trailblazer will absolutely "blaze the trail” for upcoming Chevrolet production vehicles. Its robust construction ensures that Chevrolet customers get all that they expect when they buy a heavy-duty SUV.
Design-wise, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is perfect for families and individuals regardless of the situation, from city driving to highway journeys to, of course, off-road adventures. Apfel said the Trailblazer would be a perfect choice not only for Thai and Southeast Asian consumers, but also throughout all international markets where it will become available.
Developed alongside the all-new Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup truck, the Trailblazer represents the ideal passenger SUV adaptation of the midsize truck architecture, thanks to the expertise and skill of GM’s engineers.
