2013 Mazda5 receives minor upgrades

Article by Christian A., on February 22, 2013

Mazda has released an enhanced version of the Mazda5 that now has more safety and convenience features as well as more style. This latest version of Mazda’s revolutionary compact MAV is available in any of these body colors: Zeal Red, Jet Black and Meteor Grey. This model is known for having brought back sliding back doors to compact vans.

For its interior, there’s a new seat trim throughout the dashboard panel décor to offer a clean piano black finish that gives an incredibly sleek look. The Mazda5 is already regarded to be one of the safest and most driver-oriented vans in the world but this upgraded version has upped its appeal with power folding side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals.

So that driving can be a bit easier, Mazda made driving slightly easier by adding “lane change” turn signals that could be activated by merely pressing down the turn signal lever, instantly shutting it off after blinking three times. Meanwhile, the tire repair kit reduces the weight of the Mazda5, leading to fuel savings.

A rear parking camera and auto-dimming rear-view mirror are newly included in the options. Its standard equipment includes a USB port, illuminated glovebox and muffler extension.

Mazda5 appears compact outside but it has a big interior. It features a much-awarded design that offers class-leading aerodynamics to achieve a smooth, quiet ride with outstanding linear handling and stability. With its functionality and offered comfort, Mazda’s C-MAV is undoubtedly the most flexible one in Europe.

The all-new Mazda5 integrates Mazda’s family face, with a sportier and stronger look as well as improved engine-cooling performance and aerodynamics. It also has a much larger five-point grille, a more sculptured lower bumper, and more pointed new headlamps. Below these are pointed fog lamp openings that are deeply embedded in the bumper, creating a thick lower lip, which rises along the fascia's outer edge and into the fender.

Meanwhile, the fender picks up movement made by the edge of the fog lamp and carries this over the wheel in order to meet a Nagare-flow and wave-like character line that moves across the vehicle's side and into the panel below the rear door-slide rail.

This one-of-a-kind side panel articulation, based on the patterns that are formed when the wind blows on the water, integrates the front bumper area with the vehicle’s sides and back so that it gives a sense of motion when combined with the lower door area’s character line even when the car is stationary. Furthermore, the "hidden" D-pillar with glass covering and the horizontal rear lamps improve and enhance the integrated front-to-back flow effect, making the new Mazda5’s exterior unmistakably Mazda and distinct to the C-MAV segment.

Moreover, the Mazda5’s new 16- or 17-inch Nagare-flow aluminium or alloy wheels feature twisted spokes, giving them a sporty 3-dimensional quality that contributes to the Mazda 5 silhouette’s flow patterns.

Additionally, 15” steel wheels complete with full wheel cover are available. You can also choose from eight exterior colors, including the all-new Clear Water Blue.
