Article by Christian A., on February 12, 2013

The pricing and specs of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon and Estate were announced before the scheduled launch in the UK this April. It comes with additional standard equipment and some raised value for customers. The new E-Class model line-up includes SE and AMG Sport, which replace the SE, Avantgarde and Sport models that came from the former generation E-Class.

The new E-Class offers higher value to the customer. It also comes with very appealing finance offerings. The new SE model has over £4,000 of added standard equipment. This stands for a £2,280 increase compared to the previous SE.

It’s nearly £3,000 of additional standard features in the new AMG Sport for just £575 more expensive than the previous Sport. The new E-Class SE model, which costs £2,280 higher than the outgoing model, comes with considerably better standard equipment with over £4,000 of extra equipment as standard, compared to the previous SE.

The SE lineup is offered with three diesel engines: E 220 CDI, E 250 CDI and E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID. It is also available with two petrol engines: E 200 (Saloon only) and E 250. The AMG Sport model comes with the same engines as the SE, with the arrival of the 350 BlueTEC that’s priced £2,495 higher than the SE, with a beginning price of £34,895 OTR. The only engine with manual transmission in the new E-Class range is the E 220 CDI.

It should be worth noting that the new four-cylinder petrol engines and the E 350 BlueTEC engine all comply with EU6. The new E-Class range has major CO2 improvements across the board, with emission decreases of as much as 20 g/km in emissions. The E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID Saloon CO2 has the same figure at 109 g/km but it’s now able to do so with 17” wheels (when it previously had 16”).

The new E-Class comes with a new contemporary front-end design. It also gets new proportions to achieve a sporty look. The front was totally revised with new headlamps, which consist of all functional elements with a single headlamp lens, instead of the ‘twin headlight’ design of the previous model.

The lights and bumper at the rear were also modified to show off the width and display its distinctive night design. Furthermore, the new rear bumper uses a unique lip and a black insert with chrome trim.
