2013 Nissan Juke Nismo UK pricing announced

The new Nissan Juke Nismo that will start selling in the UK in January next year offers amazing performance, stunning looks, and a generous set of equipment. What’s surprising is that the price tag of the new 200PS sports crossover will have a starting price of only £19,995. Deliveries will begin in March. The Juke Nismo had its debut last September at the Paris Motor Show.

Nissan’s Nismo performance division in Japan developed this model, which is targeted to be the first Nismo-badged road car for the European market. It will be powered by an uprated version of Nissan’s 1.6-litre direct injection turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which delivers 200PS at 6,000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 2,400rpm and 4,800rpm.

When the Juke Nismo is in front-wheel drive, six-speed manual form, it can accelerate from zero to 62mph in only 7.8 seconds and it can reach a maximum speed of 134mph. The Juke Nismo was developed to provide accessible performance.

The new engine is mated to an uprated chassis that will make the most of what power is available. It features 10 percent stiffer springs and its suspension settings were also revised to improve traction while it has a more direct steering.

Its looks were also improved by Nismo specialists and it now has front and rear Nismo badging and a subtle bodykit that uses signature red door mirrors with a matching lower red pinstripe.

Aside from the cosmetic changes, the model also gets a new aerodynamic bodykit, which gets lower front and rear bumpers, broader wings and sill side skirts, and a modified grille and tailgate spoiler.

This aids in cutting the front and rear lift without boosting drag. The changes enabled the Juke Nismo to achieve the same combined fuel economy figure of 40.9mpg and 159g/km CO2 emissions as the Juke DIG-T on which it is based, even with the additional power.

Exterior Design

More than just simply superficial, all the changes to the Juke’s body are meant to augment certain aerodynamic elements. Nismo’s racing experience influenced every single change, especially the lessons they learned from engineering and designing the Nissan GT-R racer that competes in the GT500 of the Japan’s Super GT.

When measured against the traditional Nissan Juke, the most apparent modification can be found in a front that now sports a lower, more forceful design. The signature five-circles at the base have been replaced by a horizontal meshed grille, so that the integrated fog lamps have been substituted with a thin LED strip for daytime, located at the top border of the larger grille’s new, smaller side vents.

The two-wheel drive models have these blanked, while the four-wheel drive models have side vents to take air into the engine compartment so that the oil pump gets cooled.

The big lower grille’s predominant upper border has a red-coloured pinstripe that falls theatrically into a curve around the small vents and continues to the wheel arches in the front. This distinct Nismo touch adds a breadth and presence to the nose while accentuating the Juke Nismo's sporty road stance.

On top, the three-sides around the Nissan badge at the upper grille’s centre, the V-strut, now is a darker colour. At the right appears a Nismo emblem with a red O, engraving for the first time on the Juke, Nismo's distinct racing heritage.
