Agero Connected Services will begin to offer core services for the AcuraLink connected-car system of the 2014 Acura RLX luxury sedan in the spring. Agero's system will start to deliver AcuraLink, an online-based system that offers infotainment to drivers. Agero offers an embedded system comparable to OnStar and a mobile application. The contract with Acura, the luxury brand of Honda Motor Co., is a new one for Agero.
Gary Wallace, Agero's vice president of corporate relations, said that Acura is a new customer and that he hopes that the collaboration with the brand will deepen further and will continue. Agero said that a new feature enables owners to send destination information from their phones to the RLX navigation screen.
Based in Dallas, Agero Connected Services offers connected-vehicle services for the automotive, insurance and aftermarket industries. In a statement, Agero President Charles Cavolina, said that AcuraLink “brings the ownership experience beyond the car and personalizes Acura's brand experience to the AcuraLink user.”
The 2014 RLX is bigger than the prior year’s model in a number of exterior features, including wheelbase, breadth, and front and rear track. The 112.2” wheelbase is 2” longer, allowing for more space in the rear for passengers and enhancing ride quality at the same. At 74.4” across, the RLX substantially wider by 1.7” than previously.
Other improvements include rear lateral firmness and static and dynamic rigidity. To increase key areas’ firmness and rigidity without adding to its weight, 55% of the RLX white body is high-strength steel. Hot-stamped, high-strength steel in key areas enhances safety, especially in collision performance, with the additional benefit of potentially high scores in tests of side impact, narrow offset, and roof strength. Wide use of aluminium for body components in essential areas saves 76.1 lbs as opposed to regular full-steel construction.
2014 Acura RLX contains the first ever Jewel Eye LED headlamps that proffer excellent light distribution and characteristic as well as illumination down the road. The RLX taillamps use peripheral LED lighting that is both valuable and highly exceptional.
