2014 BMW 2-Series Coupe (F22) offered only with Modern Line and Sport Line

Article by Christian A., on October 25, 2013

If the 4-Series Coupe is available with the Sport, Luxury and Modern lines, the 2-Series Coupe only gets the Sport Line and the Modern line. Both lines include 17-inch alloy wheels in exclusive designs, ambient lighting with variable use of colours and special seat upholstery, but also interior trim strip and car key designs.

The BMW 2-Series Coupe (F22) with Sport Line comes with a high-gloss black finish for the outer air intake surrounds, as well as on the kidney grille bars, cross rib in the centre air intake and rear apron. Meanwhile, the BMW 2-Series Coupe with Modern Line offers matt aluminum finish for the kidney grille, outer air intake surrounds and rear apron.

A body-coloured paint finish is offered for the cross rib in the centre air intake. BMW will not offer the Luxury Line for the 2-Series Coupe, but it does offer the M Sport Pack if you want something different and don’t like the Modern Line or the Sport Line.

Compared to its predecessor, the new BMW 2-Series Coupe boasts of greater levels of functionality, roominess and occupant protection. Since its dimensions have grown, the new BMW 2-Series Coupe offers more room for both passengers and their cargo.

Likewise, optimized material selection as well as groundbreaking body construction technology allows the new BMW 2-Series Coupe to have a lower weight while offering higher levels of passive safety. In addition, BMW has equipped the 2-Series Coupe with an array of innovative pedestrian protection systems.

Distinguishing the 2-Series Coupe from the BMW 1-Series is the fact that it comes loaded with more standard equipment as well as with more high-quality optional features that help highlight its premium character.

Using the principle of intelligent lightweight design as the guiding star for the body of the BMW 2-Series Coupe, the premium carmaker made use of appropriate construction techniques and materials. This allowed the new BMW 2-Series Coupe to be as light as possible while offering higher degrees of agility and occupant protection. For instance, a more rigid front end allows the new BMW 2-Series Coupe to be more dynamic on road.

By employing high and ultra-high-tensile steels, BMW was able to make the body of the 2-Series Coupe stiffer while ensuring the strength of the safety passenger cell. In fact, the mean strength of the materials employed in the new 2-Series Coupe is around 13 percent higher than in its predecessor.

As part of a far-reaching overall concept, the precise interplay of several safety components ensures high level of occupant protection in situations in which a collision is imminent, allowing the BMW 2-Series Coupe to earn outstanding ratings in relevant crash tests.
