Bmw unveiled today the 2014 6-Series Frozen Brilliant White Edition, a special edition based on the 6-Series Convertible, which will be produced on April and early May 2013. Limited to only 100 copies, the 2014 Bmw 6-Series Convertible Frozen Brilliant White Edition is instantly recognizable both inside and out.
According to the press release, it is available as a rear-wheel drive 650i or 650i xDrive model featuring company’s intelligent all-wheel drive system. Pricing starts at $106,695 (650i) and $110,095 respectively (650i xDrive), including $895 Destination and Handling. Regarding the design, the Frozen Brilliant White Edition features the Bmw Individual Frozen Brilliant White Metallic exterior matte paint, Frozen Black wing mirror caps, Black Bmw kidney grilles and a new set of 20-inch bi-color Ferric Gray / gloss-turned BMW M Performance light-alloy wheels.
Other highlights include the Black Nappa leather upholstery, a black Convertible soft top, and Gray Poplar wood trim. The M Sport Package and Executive Package are also included, and xDrive models will benefit from the Cold Weather Package. For those who don’t know, the 650i is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine delivering 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque.
Mated to a new 8-speed Sport Automatic gearbox, the vehicle sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. Using a 6-speed manual gearbox the vehicle is capable to reach the same speed in the same time as the version equipped with the automatic transmission.
Along with the June 5th M6 Gran Coupe launch, the 2014 model year produces other news about the BMW 6 Series, particularly on the subject of the extremely high-performing BMW M6 Coupes, Convertibles, and Gran Coupes. The 2014 M6 will be available with a six-speed manual transmission option, and M Carbon Ceramic Brakes can now also be had. These available features complete the force of the M6 range and allow eager owners to completely customise their M drive experiences.
The six-speed manual transmission for the M6 Coupe, Convertible, and Gran Coupe, available for free on all three, was created in-house by BMW M engineers over a two-year time before the debut of the latest generation of the BMW M5 Sedan and M6 models.
Control coordination, surface frictions, and components were carefully tested and retuned to create the most immersive drive experience achievable. The manual transmission includes software for engine management that seamlessly and automatically equals engine speeds for each downshift in the EFFICIENT and SPORT operation modes. Changing the engine mode to SPORT+ terminates this feature and obliges the driver to match downshifts using the accelerator for maximal involvement.
The M Carbon Ceramic Brakes option has large-diameter, long-life front and rear brake rotors comprised of the most modern carbon ceramic composites, netting the M6 a 42.8 lb (19.4 kg) in lower weight from the vehicle's vital corner sections, particularly at the moving suspension components and wheel hubs. This lowered weight means increased effectiveness for all of the suspension system.
Equally important, the M Carbon Ceramic Brake system also rapidly disperses the intense heat created from braking at high speeds in the most effective way available. A genuinely "maximum performance" choice, the M Carbon Ceramic Brakes also has a vivid aesthetic, with a mirrored self-polishing finish for rotor surface and gold-painted brake callipers that are immediately recognisable at each corner.
