After Peugeot unveiled the 108, Citroen introduced today the all-new C1 model, which is developed alongside the second-generation 108. Available in both three and five-door versions, as well as a new open-top body style called Airscape, the 2014 Citroen C1 promises to deliver an upbeat response to urban mobility requirements.
As you can see from the photos, the new Citroen C1 shows a brand new design with dynamic lines and a cheerful front-end gaze characterized by the stylish headlights. The C1’s verticals daytime running LED lights also create a signature that underlines the car’s cheerful design and strong character. At the rear, the lightning effects are continued by the square taillights that create a 3D effect.
According to Citroen, the C1 will be available in eight exterior colors: Caldéra Black, Gallium Grey, Carlinite Grey, Olive Brown, Lipizan White, Smalt Blue, Scarlet Red and Sunrise Red). Still, Citroen will also offer personalized bi-tone colour options. Two special launch versions are available with different body and roof colours – Olive Brown roof and Lipizan White body.
The C1 Airscape is also bi-toned and the soft top is available in a choice of three colours: Sunrise Red, Black or Grey. For a touch of urban chic, 14’’ or 15’’ wheel covers and 15’’ diamond-tipped alloy wheels are also available.
Inside, the new Citroen C1 features clean and structured lines, while the dashboard comes in bright colours on the multimedia panel, air vent trim and gear lever base. The door panels also include body-coloured inserts. The functional 196-litre boot is easy to access, with the parcel shelf folding away when the tailgate is opened. With the rear seats folded, boot capacity increases to 780 litres.
Compared with the previous-generation model, the New Citroën C1 features a rear axle that is 4 kg lighter, new suspension springs, new shock absorbers and a new large-diameter anti-roll bar.
These changes improve both suspension comfort and road handling. The 2014 Citroen C1 will be available with a choice of two latest-generation petrol engines. There is a three-cylinder ‘Airdream’ engine that generates 68 hp, bolted to a 5-speed transmission and featuring Stop&Start technology.
The VTi 68 engine is available with the clutchless ETG (Efficient Tronic Gearbox). This 5-speed gearbox features a creep function and optimised pedal mapping, adjusting power effectively for smoother start-ups and enhanced driveability. Moreover, the Citroen C1 is available with the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 82 mpg and 118 Nm of torque. With a weight of just 840 kg, the Citroen C1 equipped with the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that develops 82 hp can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11 seconds.
