Ford Motor Co. is introducing a new niche trim level to its full-sized pickup lineup -- the F-150 STX SuperCrew. Ford is targeting the F-150 STX SuperCrew towards first-time buyers or value-conscious customers who are returning to the pickup market. The STX line is slotted between the entry-level XL and upscale XLT trim lines.

The SuperCrew provides the STX line a third body style, aside from the the regular cab and super cab offerings. It boasts of extra interior space, four full-sized doors and cloth seats. Doug Scott, Ford's truck marketing manager, said in a statement that price-conscious buyers are returning looking for “an affordable truck with space, capability and style."

Ford has seen sales of the F series surged 22 percent in the first seven months of 2013 to 427,935 units, with the overall big pickup market jumping 23 percent to nearly 1.1 million units. The STX trucks are powered by a 3.7-liter gasoline engine as standard.

The company said that that it is adding an STX Sport appearance package to its STX lineup. The STX Sport package includes 20-inch machined aluminum painted wheels, a black grille and black running boards. Ford will start selling the 2014 STX SuperCrew this fall for $34,240, including shipping.

Ford F-150 is considered one of the best-selling range of pickups in the U.S. This model already offers the most capability for a light-duty pickup and is likely the most fuel efficient. However, for the 2013 model year, Ford Motor Company is pushing this model even further forward by equipping it with cutting-edge technologies and putting in an updated design.

The company revealed that for the 2013 Ford F-150, it will be launching this model with the leaders and agricultural leaders of tomorrow. In terms of design, the Ford F-150 has a new one on the front end. New technologies include the high-intensity discharge headlamps, or HID, and the MyFord Touch that offers voice-activated driver controls.

This is not all as the brand will also be offering a Limited luxury model for the F-150. The brand will be offering as well the 6.2-liter V8 engine and the pioneering EcoBoost engine. Hill Descent Control and electronic-locking rear axle is available as well. Doug Scott, who is the Group Marketing Manager at Ford Truck and FFA Sponsor Board Member, disclosed that the most significant demographic of the F-Series truck has always been farm families.

These are customers that multi-task as a Ford pickup for them is not only about economic livelihood and family transportation but also about reliability and rugged capability, he added. Scott continued by saying that similar to the FFA, the pickup truck from Ford is part of a long agricultural tradition and the brand is more than happy to partner with the organization in the launch of the new F-150.

Ford President of The Americas Mark Fields meanwhile said that Ford, like its many hardworking customers, remains committed to doing the job correctly through its industry-leading trucks. For the 2013 F-150, he added, this is proof that the brand is indeed committed to always improving its trucks by putting in new capabilities and features. As such, he continued, owners are sure to increase their productivity with the F-Series.
