The first vehicle in the U.S. that will be equipped with Ford's award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is the new 2014 Ford Fiesta, which will start selling in 2013. Even if the car has yet to be subjected to EPA tests, it is likely to be certified as the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid car offered in the U.S. The smallest engine offered in this class -- Ford's patented 1.0-liter EcoBoost – will not have reduced power, torque or refinement.
This engine, which is smooth and runs quietly, is predicted to generate 123hp and a peak torque of 148 lb.-ft. The 1.0-liter engine, the latest member of Ford's global EcoBoost engine family, will join the most fuel-efficient lineup in the history of the Ford Motor Company.
In 2013, Ford will provide eight vehicles with a rating of 40 mpg or higher, which is double the current total and higher than other automakers. Ford did better than Toyota when it comes to fuel economy in each segment where both have entries. With the Fiesta offering the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, Ford gives customers broader power options, particularly those who want a very fuel-efficient model.
Pricing has not been revealed yet but like the other EcoBoost engines offered throughout Ford's car, truck, SUV and crossover lineup, the 1.0-liter will be a reasonably priced option.
