2014 Hyundai Tucson The Walking Dead Edition hits the dealerships

If you want your 2014 Hyundai Tucson to be noticed wherever you go and also survive the zombie apocalypse, the Korean manufacturer announced that The Walking Dead Special Edition just arrived to the dealerships. The vehicle was first unveiled back in November at the LA Auto Show and celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Walking Dead graphic novel series.

As you can see from the photos, the 2014 Tucson The Walking Dead Special Edition comes with an Ash Black exterior that features red accent graphics package and Special Edition exterior and interior badges.

The new roof rack cross rails provide additional room for your survival gear in case of an apocalypse, while the mudguards and custom floor cargo mats keep the vehicle clean. Inside, Hyundai offers a custom Zombie Survival Kit – a Walking Dead 72-hour survivalist’s backpack and a Walking Dead Tucson Quick Reference Guide, to help utilize all the features in the Special Edition vehicle.

Moreover, the Tucson offers vehicle decals for the four factions featured in the series: Hilltop, Kingdom, Saviors, and Survivors, so owners can proudly display where their allegiances lie. Under the hood, there is a 2.4-liter Theta II Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine generates 182 hp (135 kW) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque.

The engine is bolted to a six-speed automatic transmission. This special edition of the Tucson is available only with an AWD system. Other features include the LED taillights, dual automatic temperature control and a premium audio system with HD Radio technology.

“Working with Hyundai to create this limited edition Tucson is a great way to continue The Walking Dead’s 10th Anniversary celebration,” said Robert Kirkman, author and creator of The Walking Dead. “I’m excited to see the streets taken over by these cars.”

The Walking Dead Special Edition Tucson signifies the opportunity for loyal fans to express their love of the graphic novel series. The Tucson is multipurpose, responsive, and fuel-economic, creating just enough space for those wisely-selected occupants and supplies required in the case of a zombie apocalypse or other survival scenarios.

The Walking Dead Special Edition Tucson runs on an advanced 2.4-litre Theta II Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine and has a range of prized features, such as LED tail lamps, dual automatic temperature control, and a premium audio system with HD Radio technology. Hyundai's Blue Link safety, service, and infotainment systems also come standard on this Walking Dead Special Edition and comes with three years of Assurance Connected Care as well as SOS Emergency Assistance abilities.

This feature can be exceptionally helpful for anyone trying to live through a zombie invasion. Also, Tucson's third-generation navigation system has a bigger seven-inch touchscreen with a special Walking Dead splash screen.

Robert Kirkman, author and creator of The Walking Dead worked with Hyundai to create this limited-edition Tucson as a way to continue the Walking Dead's 10th Anniversary. Mr. Kirkman said he was very excited to see these vehicles take over the streets.

Hyundai's continuing partnership with Kirkman's imprint at Image Comics, with his ground-breaking comic and best-selling graphic novels, the Walking Dead, has developed over the past years and now comprises three Hyundai Zombie Survival Machines and the Walking Dead Chop Shop app that lets fans design their own personalised zombie survival machines.
