2014 Lexus IS priced from $36,845 in the United States

The 2014 Lexus IS looks and is actually more expensive than the outgoing model but it comes with several amazing features that are offered as standard. The new 2014 IS250 RWD has a starting price of $36,845, which is $885 more expensive than the former model. The 2014 model gets standard equipment like high-intensity discharge headlights and a new touchscreen audio system standard, which were both offered as options on the old model.

Lexus claims that the new model comes with $1400 as optional equipment, which means that the $885 price increase is actually a $515 drop in price.

IS250 RWD features a six-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive and is powered by a 2.5-liter V-6 engine with an output of 204hp. The IS250 AWD, which is $2535 more expensive, comes with an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system. The IS350 RWD model that costs $40,360 features a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers 306hp as well as an exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission.

Choosing the IS350 AWD will mean that buyers have to pay $2235 more but then, it downgrades the transmission from eight forward gears to six. There are three options packages: Premium, Luxury, and F Sport. The Premium package, which consists of heated/cooled front seats and LED headlights, costs $610 for the AWD models and $1050 for the RWD models.

On the other hand, those who buy the Luxury package that is priced $3225 for AWD models and $3665 for the RWD models will get the features of the premium package features as well as the perforated leather upholstery, driver’s seat memory, wood trim, automatic wipers, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and a blind-spot monitor.

Real enthusiasts will prefer the F Sport package, which is offered on each trim level ($2675 for IS250 AWD, $3115 for IS250 RWD, $3180 for IS350 AWD, and $3620 for IS350 RWD) but consists of different items depending on the model.

All F Sport cars will receive a one-of-a-kind mesh grille up front, LED headlights, sport seats and suspension, and a set of 18-inch wheels. However, IS350 models with the F Sport package will get an adaptive suspension and on its the drive mode selector, there is a setting of “Sport+”.

Looking at the new IS from Lexus, the proportions are truly athletic, its surfaces are smooth, and the design brings with it that needed drama. All of these qualities reveal that Lexus is making headway when it comes to the driving performance and the dynamic capabilities of the premium compact sedan. Compared to the previous version, the new IS model is longer by 80 mm at 4,665 mm.

It is even wider by 10 mm. Wheelbase now measure 2,800 mm, which is longer by 70 mm. In addition, the front overhang of this new model also experienced an increase, specifically 10 mm. Much like the new versions of the ES, GS, and the LS, the new IS includes the advanced dynamism of the brand’s very own spindle grille frontal design. It thus allows this compact sedan to have a stronger road presence combined with aggressive elegance, while making sure that the brand identity is that much stronger.

The new headlamp is new and powerfully pronounced which helps put focus on the signature L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) of the brand. These DRLs are positioned under the cluster resulting the IS having a visual signature that is highly distinct and truly unique. The new IS has a pop-up hood design that ensures the front has the lowest profile possible.

This placement also makes sure that the pedestrian impact protection is optimized. For the grille itself, the headlamp clusters are placed on both sides but are in a higher position compared to the grille. On the side, Lexus utilized strong horizontal beltline to give an impression of having a lower center of gravity while making the tires in the rear appear larger.

Meanwhile the cabin has been placed nearer to the rear which results in the tires in this section to appear heavier and thus improving the protection of traction. There is also a rising crease line which begins at the lower body, passing through the rear wheel arc, and ending at the rear lamp cluster. This gives it that added dynamism to a sporting profile that already has that sweeping elegance.
