2014 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Petronas Green Edition introduced in Japan

Especially for its fans in Japan, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the A45 AMG Petronas Green Edition. As expected, this hot hatch will be offered in a limited edition, this time only 30 units will be produced. Each unit features a Cirrus White exterior, carbon fiber mirrors but also green graphics wearing the Petronas colors.

Besides these styling touches, the A45 AMG Petronas Green Edition comes with multi-spoke 19-inch wheels with green accents. Same color is also found on the rear roof spoiler. Inside, the same color is found on the steering wheels, air vent bezels, dash, center console and seats.

This new A45 AMG Petronas Green Edition is actually based on the already exclusive A45 AMG Edition 1 and comes with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine rated at 360 hp (265 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.

With these numbers, the vehicle sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited at 155 mph or 250 km/h. Despite these performances, fuel consumption remains low at only 6.9 litres of fuel per 100 km in the NEDC combined mode. No words about the price yet!

The expressive exterior of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been made more emotional by the athletic and muscular highlights Mercedes-AMG brings through its new dynamic styling and sporty feature lines on the flanks. All of these made the A45 AMG look like a genuine AMG and a characteristic high-performance vehicle.

Defining the front end of the new A45 AMG are AMG’s twin blade radiator grille and the cross strut in the AMG front apron, both with matt titanium grey finish. The sides are marked by large cooling air intakes as surrounded by striking black flics, side sill panels with matt titanium grey inserts and AMG light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design.

The rear end, meanwhile, is marked by the AMG rear apron with air outlet openings featuring a matt titanium grey diffusor insert and trim. The rear end is also marked by the AMG sports exhaust system with two square, chrome-plated tailpipes and exhaust flap.

On the other hand, the interior of the new A45 AMG is as exclusive and as dynamic as Mercedes-AMG’s other high-performance vehicles. This is evident on the sports seats wrapped in ARTICO artificial leather/DINAMICA microfiber with red contrasting top-stitching.

This is also evident on the multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles. The new A45 AMG also features five air vents in black/red, AMG door sill panels, red seat belts and a dashboard trim in carbon-fiber appearance. Interestingly, the AMG instrument cluster displays information through a central color display with the AMG main menu and the RACETIMER.
