2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG caught undisguised at a commercial shoot in Rotterdam

Article by Christian A., on September 15, 2013

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG was spotted undisguised at a commercial shoot in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Minor differences were seen in comparison to the S63 AMG. Significant modifications include more chrome on the front grille, shiny mesh on the front bumper, various multi-spoke alloys together with the bold "V12 Biturbo" lettering.

It will use a 6.0-liter engine that delivers 630 HP (463 kW) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. The 2014 S65 AMG is mated to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox, enabling it to move from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4 seconds. It’s expected to have a fuel efficiency rating of 20 mpg US (24.3 mpg UK or 11.6 liters / 100 km). Deliveries will start in March after its introduction at the L.A. Auto Show this November.

The brand-new S65 AMG flaunts its superior status not just with regards to its ingenuity, but also its design. The hedonistic purity that is standard of the Mercedes-Benz, with its legendary architecture and flowing silhouette, is integrated with dynamic components typical of AMG.

Sophisticated and grand, dynamic and prominent, robust and distinct - the S65 AMG is a genuine eye-catcher with a confident personality. The extensive, upright and distinguishably three-dimensional V12 radiator grille with its six twin louvers in high-gloss chrome accentuates the vehicle’s exceptional status.

An inspiring contrast to this is given by the front apron with its three huge cooling air intakes. The front area wears the AMG-typical, stylised "A" to highlight the robust distinction of the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG.

High-gloss chrome - this design component is utilized to distinguishable effect in the S65 AMG. An head-turning look, particularly in incorporation with dark paint colors, is ensured by the grilles and flics (air deflectors) on the side air intakes. The three-dimensional front splitter in high-gloss chrome decreases lift on the front axle, while the gap over the front splitter guarantees a compelling flow of air to the different engine oil cooler behind it.

Additionally in high-gloss chrome are the inserts in the side sill panels and the trim of the high-gloss black rear diffuser insert. Clients who attach more significant value to an underrated appearance have the alternative of requesting the grilles and flics in high-gloss black.

Further distinct design features include the "V12 BITURBO" lettering on the wings and the "S65 AMG" model identification on the boot lid - both in new, current typography. The AMG sports exhaust system with its two chromed, isolated twin tailpipes is a wellspring of interest both visually and acoustically.
