2014 Nissan Versa Sedan US pricing announced

Article by Anita Panait, on April 24, 2013

Nissan is introducing one of its first vehicles for the 2014 model -- the 2014 Nissan Versa Sedan. The 2014 Nissan Versa Sedan carries the same pricing as the 2013 model, and still boasts of having the lowest starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) in the United States for the third straight year at $11,990 for the 2014 Nissan Versa Sedan S.

Interested buyers could now avail of the 2014 Versa Sedan at Nissan dealers nationwide. The 2014 Versa Sedan provides exceptional value, as it comes with standard features like the standard 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with dual injector system and twin Continuously Variable Timing Control (CVTC).

Also available for the 2014 Versa Sedan are the air conditioning, 6-way adjustable driver's seat, and AM/FM/CD/Aux-in audio system. All 2014 Versa Sedan models fitted with the Xtronic CVT transmission could return 40 miles per gallon highway, 31 mpg city and 35 mpg combined.

Versa S is rated at 27/36/30 mpg city/highway/combined with five-speed manual transmission and 26/35/30 mpg city/highway/combined with the four-speed automatic gearbox.

2014 Versa Sedan features several improvement like the standard 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, tri-cot headliner, 4.3-inch display audio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio for Versa Sedan SL models; standard 60/40-split fold-down rear seat and key fob trunk release for Versa Sedan SV models; and tachometer and low rolling resistance tires for Versa Sedan S models.

All 2014 Versa Sedan models are endowed with a suspension and steering tuning change, along with revised interior finishers.  Versa Sedan SV and SL models are enhanced with a new high-gloss black B-pillar treatment and improved seat comfort. A buyer could avail of the optional SV Convenience Package and SL Tech Package, which features upgraded content, including NissanConnectSM with Navigation system with the SL Tech Package.

To guarantee that the Versa Sedan would have that first-class functionality, the design and engineering teams at Nissan knew that even during the initial phase, it was important to address new ideas. A good example would be the indented line that can be seen in the center of this model’s sweeping roofline. It was placed there not only to serve as a design feature but to offer functional innovation.

Specifically, it lowers the amplitude of the vibrations experienced by the roof panel. This results in a cabin interior that is clearly quieter but without the need for any reinforcement devices like “mass bumpers.” Further, the exterior shape of the Versa Sedan reveals a strong sense of volume having a smooth profile and a shoulder width that is wider. Because of this, Nissan’s latest offering is able to get that upscale appearance.

The front section has the brand’s trademarked sedan grille design paired with the jewel-like headlights. This same front section is able to fuse effortlessly with the cabin, which itself shows flowing curves. In addition, there are design elements, like the trunklid’s shape, that ensure the Versa Sedan is able to deliver excellent aerodynamics. For those who prefer figures, the coefficient of drag measures 0.31.

Compared to many of the present compact sedans, the exterior of the Versa Sedan has a design that is obviously a departure from the rest of the pack. The design quality is both refreshing and fresh, making it highly aerodynamic and even sophisticated. With a lot of eye power, Castignetti said, this model is slated to become the segment’s most expensive looking model.

He added that the proportions are dynamic and sculpted, making it more contemporary but not at the risk of being gimmicky. Despite having an initial MSRP of $10,990, the Versa Sedan reveals a design value that is clearly higher, he continued.
