Peugeot is now selling the critically acclaimed Peugeot 308 in the United Kingdom. Bearing a very desirable design, excellent environmental performance and best-in-class driving dynamics, the Peugeot 308 has been shortlisted for the prestigious European Car of the Year 2014 award. From development to sales, to customer service and to ownership, the Peugeot 308 is certainly a car worth purchasing.
“Last year was a huge success for our business, and the arrival of the New 308 – plus a number of other great cars – ensures 2014 will build on that solid foundation,” remarked Tim Zimmerman, Managing Director of Peugeot UK.
Underpinning the new Peugeot 308 is the innovative Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2), which has incorporated 116 patented technologies. This new architecture has made the new 308 to be lighter than before, with weights savings of up to 140kg compared to its predecessor.
New 308 is available with eight advanced engines, allowing the car to lead its segment in terms of environmental performance. Depending on the model, the stated fuel economy can be up to 91.1mpg with carbon dioxide emissions as low as 82g/km.
The new Peugeot will feature a premium ‘i-Cockpit’ interior – boasting of driver-focused uncluttered dashboard complemented by an advanced touch-screen infotainment system.
The system features a large 9.7-inch screen, allowing drivers to easily control everything from climate control to audio system. The new 308 also boasts of a 420-liter boot space when the rear seats are positioned upright. It also features cup holders and storage spaces.
Peugeot 308 is available in four trim levels, Access (from £14,495), Active (from £17,195), Allure (from £18,645) and Feline (from £20,995).
With compact dimensions of 4.25 m in length and 1.46 m in height, the new Peugeot 308 definitely belongs to the C segment. Despite its compact measurements, the new 308 offers a roomy interior that is also large enough to set aside 470 liters for the boot. With its strong attributes, the new 308 is a strong alternative for customers in the C segment.
Gilles Vidal, Design Director for Peugeot, remarked that the new Peugeot 308 comes with a pure and technological exterior design that conveys high strength and high quality.
The compact length of the new 308 is complemented by its well-balanced proportions, allowing this new offering from France to don a sophisticated presence on the road. Its front end is defined by an evolved version of Peugeot’s 'floating' front grille as well as by as a strong lighting signature. Majority of the available trim levels are fitted as standard with slim full-LED headlamps. The rear end, meanwhile, is defined by the three Peugeot 'claws' visually made possible by the rear LED lamps.
Vincent Devos, New 308 Product Manager at Peugeot, quipped that the interior of the compact vehicle is characterized by a refined styling, as complemented by the so-called Peugeot i-cockpit, a front cabin area that isn’t just innovative, but is also intense and intuitive.
