Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com, remarked that the 2015 MDX has virtually everything that buyers look for in a contemporary luxury SUV.
He added that the MDX is a “true standout” in terms of value for the money. The recent award from Kelley Blue Book adds to MDX’s accolades in 2014 as well as to honors from Autoguide.com (Utility Vehicle of the Year), Edmunds.com (Top Rating), U.S. News & World Report (Best Luxury 3-row SUV for Families, and #1 Luxury Crossover SUV) and Kiplinger's Personal Finance (Best Value Award).
The new generation Acura MDX model is known for its superior handling and excellent driving performance. Acura further developed its dynamic features with nimbler handling, better acceleration and shorter stopping distances. As a result, the 2014 MDX deliver improved ride comfort and optimum fuel efficiency.
Aside from the new chassis, Acura uses the Earth Dreams Technology for its engine and combines it with a more rigid and lightweight body structure. Due to this, the MDX is faster and more responsive in almost any given situation.
2014 Acura MDX can produce eight percent more torque at approximately 2,750rpm. This enhances the low-end grunt and launch performance of the new MDX. On the other hand, the MDX’s Sequential Sport Shift AT comes with both Sport and Normal modes. The paddle shifters on the steering wheel can be used to manually change the gears.
To minimize road vibrations and provide better feel at the centre, the new MDX is equipped with EPS and a larger steering column shaft. This results to a highly responsive steering and nine percent quicker steering ratio than the last model.
The new MDX SH-AWD provides 0.5-second faster acceleration at 0-60mph along with higher maximum lateral g-force and shorter stopping distance from 60-0mph. Moreover, the new MDX and the older version were tuned and tested at the Green Hell where the new MDX went faster by 8 seconds. After which, the MDX was once again tested extensively at the Austrian Alps to check how well the 6-speed transmission performs.
The 2014 MDX is equipped with Integrated Dynamics System to offer the driver a choice from the Sport, Normal and Comfort driving modes. The steering becomes firmer when set to Sport mode while the Normal mode is a combination of sporty and comfortable driving dynamics.
There is lesser steering effort in Comfort Mode, which comes very useful when caught up in tight traffic or cramped parking spaces. Meanwhile, the Sport Mode requires higher effort on the steering to those who want to enjoy open-road driving with a more aggressive performance.
