2015 BMW M4 Convertible gets a starting price of $73,424 in the United States

If yesterday, BMW uncovered all the details, images and specs of the M4 Cabrio, today the Bavarian carmaker also revealed the pricing for its new open-top sports car. As a result, we found out that the 2015 BMW M4 Convertible has a starting price of $73,424 in the United States (including Destination and Handling) and will arrive in US showrooms in summer 2014.

The electromechanical steering system is a new development from BMW M GmbH and represents a critical component in the link between the drive and the car. This system offers a direct steering feel and precise feedback. With the integrated Servotronic function, the level of steering is electronically adjusted according to the car’s speed. BMW says that the M4 Cabrio offers three steering settings: Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

The settings can be selected at the touch of a button in order to adjust the level of steering assistance to the situation or to your personal tastes. As an option, BMW offers the Adaptive M suspension, which also comes with Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. As standard, the M4 Cabrio comes with M compound brakes, but for those who want better performances, the Bavarian manufacturer offers the more effective M carbon ceramic brakes.

The M4 Cabrio featuring the optional M carbon ceramic brakes can be easily distinguished thanks to the gold-painted calipers. As we said in our previous article about the M4 Cabrio, the vehicle features aluminum front genders and hood, with lightweight aluminum construction as well as carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP).

Just like the outgoing version, the M4 Cabrio is fitted with a three-piece retractable hardtop, which can be ‘hidden’ in the trunk in a mere 20 seconds and when travelling at speeds of up to 11 mph.

In the United States, BMW offers the redesigned windblock as standard. According to the official press release, the windblock is now smaller, lighter but also easy to use, plus it is more effective than previous variants. When you do not need it, you can store it behind the rear seat to save space (also a new feature).

As an option, you can fit your BMW M4 Convertible with the Navigation System offering extra capability, sharper graphics and 3D elements for the map display, Active Driving Assistant, which warns the driver of a looming collision with a pedestrian or vehicle, the full LED headlights and the intelligent High Beam Assistant. The optional Head-Up Display comes with additional, M-specific functions such as a gear display, rev counter and Optimum Shift Indicator.

Powertrain

For this amount of money you will a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline six engine that develops 425 hp and achieves peak torque of 406 lb-ft maintained over a very wide rev band (1,850–5,500 rpm).

Moreover, the engine pushes the M4 Cabrio from naught to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds when fitted with the six-speed manual transmission or in 4.2 seconds with the optional seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (DCT).

Top speed is electronically limited at 155 mph. Just like the M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupe, the 2015 BMW M4 Convertible features the Launch Control function integrated into M-DCT, which enables optimum acceleration off the line. As expected, power is delivered to the rear wheels through the standard Active M Differential, which optimizes traction at the rear axle.
