For those who are looking for an alternative to the GMC Sierra Denali, Ford F-150 King Ranch or the Ram Laramie Longhorn, we have good news: GM has just introduced the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD High Country. As expected, the new Silverado HD High Country comes with several exterior featured and according to GM the additions include a new chrome grille with horizontal bars, body-coloured front and rear bumpers including the CornerStep rear bumper, 6-inch tubular chrome assist steps, High Country badges on the doors as well as the tailgate, but also High Country logos on the door sill plates.
Moreover, the 2015 Silverado 2500HD High Country receives 20-inch chrome wheels. If you get the bigger 3500HD model with a single-rear-wheel you will get the 18-inch chrome wheels, while the dual-rear-wheels model get receives 17-inch forged polished aluminum wheels.
Open the door and you will see the exclusive saddle brown interior, the standard heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Countru logos on the headrests, a Bose premium audio system, front and rear park assist and the Chevrolet MyLink connectivity with an 8-inch touch screen.
Other interior options include a sunroof, navigation system and a rear-seat entertainment system with a BluRay/DVD player. If you want the High Country Premium Package you will also receive the heated steering wheel, driver alert package and power adjustable pedals. Silverado HD High Country is available with Chevrolet’s new up-level trailer tow mirrors that extend for wider trailers and feature power adjust with memory and power fold.
As you can see from the photos, these mirrors include heat and turn signals in the glass, but also incorporate auxiliary clearance lamps and auxiliary cargo lamps to help make backing a trailer easier. Under the hood, the 2015 Silverado HD High Country uses a 6.0-liter V8 engine delivering 360 hp and 380 Nm of torque.
If you don’t want this engine, Chevrolet also offers a bi-fuel version of the 6.0-liter V8 that can run on Compressed Natural Gas. You want a diesel? The Silverado HD High Country has it: a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel that generates 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque.
The Duramax V8 is bolted to the Allison 1000 six-speed transmission and features a variable-vane turbocharger that acts as an exhaust brake, helping control speed on downgrades for more confident towing. The High Country comes in 2500HD and 3500HD crew cab models in both two- and four-wheel-drive.
The 3500HD High Country will be available in single- or dual-rear wheel models, with maximum tow ratings of up to 22,900 pounds for fifth wheel/gooseneck towing, and up to 19,600 pounds for conventional towing. Chevrolet will offer the 2015 Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD High Country models starting this summer.
