Article by Christian A., on May 28, 2014

The 2015 Ford F-150 has been raising heads even before it hits the showrooms. It is expected to raise heads further after Ford disclosed the 2015 Ford F-150’s new features and technologies has made it the most patented truck in the carmaker’s history.

Alana Strager, Ford program analyst charged with tracking new innovations for the 2015 F-150, remarked that the carmaker’s filed over 100 new patents for technologies for the vehicle – looking to redefine the light-duty pickup for the next generation.

Patents and patent applications entail new features and innovations that practically cover almost every part of the F-150 – from the body, exterior and interior to chassis, design, electrical and engine. Among the state-of-the-art technologies featured on the new 2015 F-150 are LED spotlights fitted on the truck’s side mirrors.

These spotlights allow drivers to illuminate the side of the truck to accomplish tasks like changing a tire. Another state-of-the-art technology featured on the 2015 F-150 is the remote tailgate release, which automatically lowers the tailgate using just the key fob.

Likewise, the 2015 Ford F-150 features a reengineered tailgate step, which is now fully integrated into the tailgate to make it invisible when not in use. The grab handle is now contained inside the tailgate to keep the inner surface of the tailgate uniformly flat.

The 2015 Ford F-150 also features BoxLink cargo management system that includes lockable, die-cast aluminum tie-down cleats. Cargo ramps can be stowed on the sides of the pickup box through the BoxLink system, allowing easy loading of ATVs or motorbikes.

Other new technologies include 360-degree camera view and integrated loading ramps stowed in the pickup bed as well as 400W power outlets inside the cab and LED headlights.
