2015 Ford Mustang receives 500 registrations in just 30 seconds

Over 9,300 people have registered online to get a chance to reserve one of the first 500 new Ford Mustang models for Europe during the UEFA Champions League Final, Ford Motor Co. disclosed. The first 500 registrations were tallied just 30 seconds into the game, which saw Real Madrid CF clobbering Club Atlético de Madrid 4-1.

The new Ford Mustang will be the first model offered across Europe when it becomes available in 2015. Ford allocated the 500 new Mustangs across 20 countries, with each getting their own share. In the next few weeks, Ford will contact the fastest customers -- from each of the 20 countries – in placing their reservation for the new Mustang.

Each customer will be invited to complete their order at a dealership later this year. Available models were the Race Red fastback and Magnetic Silver convertible, both including a special package.

Buyers could also to opt for Ford’s all-new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that provides over 309 PS of output and 407 Nm of torque; or the 5.0-liter V8 engine that lets out over 426 PS of output and 529 Nm of torque.

The 500 Mustang will be available also with Ford’s SYNC 2 connectivity and navigation system; heated and ventilated seats; Park Assist; black leather trim; chrome detailing; and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Ford provided more than 900 vehicles for use to the UEFA Champions League, being the official vehicle supplier for the 2013-2014 season. A Ford Mustang carried the champion’s trophy from the UEFA Champions Festival to the stadium Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Lisbon.

With the addition of the EcoBoost 2.3-liter engine, the Mustang powertrain lineup will now have turbocharging. Estimated to deliver a minimum output of 305 hp with peak torque of at least 300 lb.-ft., this more than makes it truly a part of a genuine Mustang powerplant. In order to allow for higher output and enhanced breathing, Ford optimized not only the turbocharger housing but also the intake manifold.

All of these simply mean that this new engine was developed in order to meet the demands of drivers who want a vehicle that displays exceptional performance. Fuel efficiency meanwhile is expected to be the best in its class. As the newest engine to become part of the brand’s worldwide EcoBoost engine family, it fully utilizes a number of cutting-edge technologies like turbocharging, twin independent variable camshaft timing, and direct fuel injection, among others.

This ensures big-engine power and torque while also resulting in better fuel efficiency. EcoBoost Powertrain Engineering Manager Scott Makowksi revealed that no matter what the speed is, the output delivered by this new EcoBoost engine is one that Mustang drivers clearly expect.

The displacement of the EcoBoost engine may be small, he continued, but it is able to deliver what any Mustang driver demand through a flat and broad torque curve. He added that driveability is excellent regardless of the conditions.

The new EcoBoost engine will be the first engine from Ford to have the twin-scroll low-inertia turbocharger. This allows for quicker boost response while making sure that efficiency is enhanced and emissions reduced. Meanwhile, the cylinder head has an exhaust manifold integrated. This is what divides the outer pairs, as well as inner ones, of cylinders into each of the inlet passage to the turbo.
