GMC is spoiling us with special edition of its trucks and after it unveiled the new Carbon Editions, the company released the Siera Elevation Edition. Set to go on sale later this year, the 2015 GMC Sierra Elevation Edition promises to offer a combination of style and connectivity features.
Based on the 2015 Sierra double-cab pickup, the 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition arrives with body-coloured grille surround and door handles, as well as new mirror caps, side moldings and front and rear bumpers featuring the same colour as the vehicle in order to give it a monochromatic appearance.
In addition, the Elevation features stylish headlamps with light-emitting diode, or LED, fog lamps and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels painted in black. As standard, the Sierra Elevation is offered with remote keyless entry, power mirrors, LED cargo box lightning and a 110-volt AC power outlet.
Connectivity is enhanced via the 4.2-inch Intellilink color touchscreen audio system and Bluetooth phone connectivity as well as with the 4G LTE Connectivity, providing an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot for up to seven devices.
Offered with two- or four-wheel drive, the 2015 Sierra Elevation gets 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 petrol engine that produces 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. The engine returns 24 mpg according to EPA. Still, for those who want more, GMC offers the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 with 355 hp. Pricing was not announced yet, but it will be available at a later date.
GMC considers the latest generation of the Sierra 1500 (2015 model year) as the most powerful and most refined full-size pickup truck in its 110 years of history. Featuring a bold new exterior, the new Sierra is now available with any of three all-new EcoTec3 engines as well as a new cabin with available next-generation IntelliLink connectivity.
Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing, quipped that engineers and designers left no stone unturned during the development of the all-new Sierra. He noted that the new Sierra models boast of the power and capability expected in the market, while offering high levels of fuel efficiency as well as wide array purposeful features, all of which were developed with truck owners in mind.
The all-new design and technology of the 2014 Sierra are complemented by a long list of standard features – the longest that a full-size GMC pickup ever had. These standard features include connectivity elements, a tie-down system in the rear and projector beam headlamps.
For the next generation, the new GMC Sierra is offered with three members of the EcoTec3 engine family: a 4.3-liter V-6 mill, a 5.3-liter V-8 unit and a 6.2-liter V-8 engine. All of these updated engines offer higher levels of power output, torque and fuel efficiency. Each of these engines has standard direct injection and continuously variable valve timing.
With Active Fuel Management, these mills could seamlessly switch to four-cylinder operation during light-load driving, thereby saving fuel in the process. GMC was able to hike both the power and efficiency of the new engines by spending over 10 million hours of computer modeling, of which more than half spent to improve combustion process.
