2015 Kia Optima arrives with small updates

Article by Christian A., on May 16, 2014

Kia Optima received some upgrades for the 2015MY but don’t expect design changes as there are none. Still, the 2015 Kia Optima arrives with a Smokey Blue metallic paint, as well as the Sparkling Silver and Platinum Graphite which replace the Bright Silver and Metal Bronze, respectively.

Moreover, the acoustic laminated windshield which was offered only on the Optima SX Limited is now available across the Optima lineup for 2015.

Same engines are available on the 2015 Optima: a 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder or a 2.0-liter GDI turbo engine. Kia offers the 2.0-liter turbo GDI engine on the SX and the SX limited, while the LX, EX and SX models get the 2.4-liter GDI engine.

Both engines are available with a six-speed automatic transmission featuring Sportmatic shifting. Inside, we find steering wheel-mounted buttons for the cruise control that were repositioned on the right-side spoke.

Moreover, the steering wheel found on the SX Limited model gets new brushed bezels and contrasting white stitching. The LX model receives as an option a black cloth. The most important feature is the next-generation of UVO eServices.

Kia announces four new UVO eServices integrated into the voice-activated system, such as Geo Fencing, Driving Score, Speed Alerts and Curfew Alerts. Kia continues to offer a wide range of telematics and infotainment systems including My POI, eServices Guide, 911 Connect, Car Care Web, Parking Minder4 and Vehicle Diagnostics.

In the mid-sized sedan segment long led by operation over appeal, the 2014 Optima confirms its status as a pioneer of blending style with substance in an affordable vehicle. Enhancing the Optima's sculptured, high-quality look, Kia's Frankfurt designers enhanced the automobile’s front and rear fascia and its signature tabbed grille.

The Optima's strong posture and sleek shape have further emphasis from improved rear diffusers and a continuous boot lid. Illuminating the European-like design are attractive front LED position and fog lamps and crisp, redesigned LED rear lights.

The enhancements continue inside the 2014 Optima, as drivers find more high-class and high-tech features. Starting the Optima's push button ignition lights up two new screens: a 4.3” TFT LCD cluster of instruments and an available high-res 8” navigation and telematics display, featuring UVO eServices, an eight-speaker Infinity® sound system, HD Radio, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and SiriusXM Traffic.

New seating designs confirm a cosy drive in the strong and lively sedan, while an available all-new Blind Spot Detection (BSD) system, with rear cross-traffic and parking sensors, improve ease and peace of mind.
