Besides the CLA Shooting Brake, Mercedes-Benz also unveiled the high-performance version a.k.a. the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake. Just like the CLA 45 AMG, the new Shooting Brake version uses the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 360 hp (265 kW) and 450 Nm of torque.
Bolted to the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission which sends the power to the fully variable AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system, the vehicle sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds (0.1 seconds slower than the sedan version),while top speed is limited at 250 km/h or 155 mph.
Despite the impressive performances, fuel consumption is just 6.9 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of just 161 g/km. When it comes to design, the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake features a radiator grille with AMG lettering and twin louvre in matt titanium grey, a new front apron featuring a splitter in a striking colour finish as well as a larger air intakes.
From the side, we see the side sill panels with titanium grey inserts and ‘Turbo AMG’ badging. The elongated roof shows a stylish spoiler, which reduces the lift that can occur at high speeds. In addition, the rear end features chromed twin tailpipes and a black air diffuser.
Further visual highlights are ensured by the matt titanium grey trim and a rear apron with simulated air outlet openings.
Same sporty theme is continued at the interior where we find sports seats in Artico man-made leather/Dinamica microfiber with red contrasting topstitching, red design seat belts, a flat-bottomed steering wheel with shift paddles, a longitudinal-grain aluminum trim, galvanized air vents with red rings and an instrument cluster in 2-tube look.
For those who want even more, Mercedes-Benz offers the Exterior Carbon-Fiber Package, AMG Night Package or the AMG Exclusive Package.
The OrangeArt Edition will be the most interesting addition as it brings design features in matt graphite grey above the side sill panels, orange accents in the AMG radiator grille, exterior mirrors and rear apron.
Inside, the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake OrangeArt Edition gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in Dimanica microfiber with orange contrasting topstitching and specially designed trim.
The AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission comes with three unique transmission modes, a double-declutching function as well as a Race Start function. A dual-clutch transmission allows for spontaneous, smooth gear shifts sans any loss in traction while offering a high level of efficiency. Likewise, it offers a tailor-made control strategy derived from the AMG Speedshift functions. Interestingly, the manual mode "M" and the sport mode "S" deliver sporty shift times.
Thanks to the quick yet precise retardation of the ignition interruptions as well as the injection suppression under full load, the "M" and "S" modes deliver faster gear shifts with a more exciting audio. The transmission control takes advantage of the direct injection technology, since a quicker engine response ensures a more precise injection suppression. This results in a high shift speed as well as a more emotional sound experience.
Meanwhile, the "C" mode (Controlled Efficiency) allows for a fuel-efficient and comfort-oriented driving style, as made possible by relevant engine traits and the smooth transmission. In this mode, the ECO start/stop function is also activated. On the other hand, the so-called "Momentary M mode" -- as seen in the new Mercedes-AMG GT – allows for enhanced dynamic performance and driving enjoyment.
A sophisticated version of the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, the AMG Performance 4MATIC, delivers the best possible combo of dynamism, traction and efficiency. This is thanks to the fully variable distribution of drive torque, which ranges from full front-wheel drive to a 50:50 split.
